When I worked for The Man, our hourly people got 5 sick days a year and 3 personal. The salaried weren't limited at all.

At my job you just get PTO days...however you use them you use them. Sick a lot fine waste away days, vacation a lot bully for you. When I started I got 23 days of PTO, I am now up to 31 per annum.

5 sick / 5 personal / 5 vacation per year

I never use it all either.

That's bullshit Hornimal.

10 sick days, 15 vacation, 1 person day.

I like the PTO idea. Just take of whenever you feel like, and you won't have people calling in sick al the time when they really aren't.

Whats sad is how much more vacation time almost every other European country gets, and they get as many "holidays" if not more.

it's a never ending struggle between our hr lady and I. a happy worker is a productive worker. how can I expect my team to give us the extra effort, when they are being short changed behind my back.

and this proposal was brought up while I was in europe last week. this was after I shot down her idea of having everyone come in to work on the 24th...a day when NONE of our clients will be open.

I always got around that by making sure my folks knew they could take long lunches, leave early or come in late when they needed too.

Our bitch of an HR lady got us to log our time, down to the half hour, for each day. The front desk chick had a clipboard and wrote down what time people came in, went to lunch, came back from lunch and left for the day. And the HR assistant would then, weekly, compare the morning and afternoon arrival/departure to your time sheet.

My solution? I took the stairs so she never saw me come or go. That was such complete bullshit. I was already working around 60 hours a week and billing a shit load of time to our clients. Just on my billable hours alone, I was covering, annually, my teams salary and benefits. That didn't even include what my team billed or our management fees. I was a money making bastard for those jerks and I refused to check in and check out with some front desk clerk.

Great use of off day Tower.

I already told my boss, if it's a Cowboys / Pats Super Bowl, I won't be in Monday.

My work does the PTO thing. It is nice because I don't get sick so unlike the sicklies or the people who pretend to be sick, I don't get screwed for my good health. I get about 5 weeks of PTO a year. The PTO has to be used by the end of August or you lose it all but I have never had a problem using it all. I keep wanting to find a new job but don't want to lose the month off I get.

I have no fucking idea. I know we have a policy, but I'll be damned if I follow it or have any of my staff strictly adhere to it. If they're sucking ass at their job, then it'd be an issue. And I'm sure the same for me.

I suppose if you're really sick then it's an issue. Then you've got your short-term disability and long-term disability. As for the "my vag hurts" or "i have the sniffles" or "I'm hungover"....well, just don't let it prevent you from getting your shit done, and don't fucking make me or our department look bad.

5 weeks PTO (use 'em however you want to) and then all the other bullshit holidays.

At my last job we had unlimited sick days. If you were sick they didn't want you there infecting everyone else. It was a software company so we could telecommute anyway if we really "needed" to work. I took my fair share of "mental health" days.

lol :D

i hate how ours works. We "accrue" PTO days to be used for anything. But we do not get ANY "holidays" or anything. So, if I want to take Xmas Day off, I have to use PTO. Ridiculous. We do accrue at a faster rate than most, but you still end up with about 23 days per year or so, I think. And you're screwed if you want to go on vacation after you just started working - I had to take a day without pay to go to ACL because I had only been working two weeks.

I work for a publicly traded company and I have unlimited sick days. However, I have noticed that the women take advantage of this policy at an immensely higher rate than the men do.

Unlimited for salaried (w/in reason). I think if you're out say 30 days per year, I think HR will have a talkin'...
10 days per year for hourly.

Unlimited sick days... probably because they don't want me walking into Dr.'s offices all day while I'm sick :tounge:
