Can you get a handicapped spot for being fat?

I'm sorry, but I just want to be an asshole today.

I'm not sure that people can get the rights to park in handicapped sports for obesity, but I'm pretty sure that they can.

For the most part I disagree with this. I understand that there are people that absolutely can not control their weight, but those people are FAR fewer than are actually obese.

I would rather see these spots go to people with problems they absolutely can not help.


My questions:

1.) Can you get one for being fat?
2.) Are there standards?
3.) Can they be permanent?

My solution:
Yes, I know I'm an ass. But I would suggest giving these people who can't move around a handicapped license for a set period of time, so that they can get control of their body. I do not think we should enable these people by making their lives easier than the rest of ours when they can easily exercise and eat right.

Apparently in San Antonio its reason enough. I just find it odd that someone parks in a handi 20 yards closer to the store only to spend an hour or two walking around the mall, grocery, etc.

I saw a documentary about fatties a while back and one of the things they talked about was how Big & Fat stores intentionally open in strip malls where fatties can just pull up in front of the door instead of having to walk through the parking lot.

Hmmm, I guess it would depend on the requirements for the handicapped placard in their state and any co morbidities they have. Doctors have to sign off on those forms and they normally just don't sign off on everyone that wants one.

Unless you know for a fact that obesity is the person's only issue, then it might be safe to assume that the person has a condition that requires them to have a closer space in order to be able to participate in obtaining basics for optimal standards of living or quality of life issues.
