I’ve seen some charts showing mileage to the various schools, but what is really important is the travel time. Very few people are going to be driving to Washington DC or San Fran. The important thing is the ease of flying into the location and the cost.
Here are the travel costs to the various possible conferences. For comparison purposes, I used the following dates - Nov 4 to Nov 7 - and picked the lowest cost fare via Kayak. For any driving legs, the cost was calculated at 0.50 / mile. Prices are for two travelers round trip. Travel time is each way.
After looking at it, the PAC-12 looks better. Most of the travel is in to major cities with minimal connections. SEC on the other hand is very expensive because you are either flying into major cities and driving – or flying into small regional airport. Either way, the time and costs add up.
