FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) - Five men are facing felony theft charges after authorities in Gillespie County (http://www.gillespiecounty.org/) say they stole 6,000 lambs from a feed lot.
It happened at Immel Feed Yard between Willow City and Sandy, near the Blanco County line.
The cost of the missing lambs is estimated at $1 million.
Emilio Rodriguez Lopez, 59, Francisco Rodriguez Lopez, 44, and Cipriano Rodriguez Lopez, 42, Angel Gonzalez-Cortez, 29, and Jose Martinez Hernandez, 38, are being held on felony theft charges.
Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (http://www.texascattleraisers.org/) Special Ranger Max Hartmann said this case remains under investigation.
It is believed the thefts took place over a period of several months.
Authorities will not elaborate on how the livestock was stolen.
Feed lot owner Alton Immel declined comment, citing an the ongoing investigation.

I've got a sneaking suspicion I know these people. I'm guessing this is the dad quoted in the article, but I dealt with the kid. If it's the ones I knew they own the car dealership in Fredericksberg as well. Son was a nice guy, but obviously didn't have the family knack for biz but was trying to do 10,000 different things, none of them all that well. I could see this happening...but they must have a ton of sheep for 6k to go missing and not being able to tell.
