    Just read "The Art of Racing in the Rain"

    And cried like a little bitch.

    That "I'm lost" feeling of a man's love for his wife.

    The uncompromising, unyielding love of a father for his daughter,

    The pure and perfect connection between a man and his dog.

    The dog. The damned dog. Sheesh.

    A quick read, worth a look. Tight prose, painting well-delineated pictures. And it's sure as $#@! spiritual.

    Picked it up on a whim at Target last year and read it, surprisingly good. Definite must for dog lovers, though it's not just a "dog" book.

    I was able to hold it back most of the book; but I had the added benefit of sitting next to my little buddy so I could pet him during the tough passages. At the end I pretty much had to leave the room and clean myself up.

    George RR Martin authored postscript would be nice.

    read it a few months ago, and liked it quite a bit.

    The dog is basically capable of human-level thought, and brings out some great observations on humanity, love, loyalty, and heartbreak.

    The end was amazing.

    I read this a few weeks ago and loved it. I was traveling for the day and had a layover in Midland, so I finished it in one day. If I would have been anywhere but in a crowded airport I would have been full on balling. As it was I had tears in my eyes quite a few times - even at the very beginning when you know what is ultimately going to happen. I got home that night and hugged on my 10 year old lab for a long time.

    I thought it was very well written and the ending was just perfect.
