Yeah, as a huge fan of Alien, I can't wait for this one. That trailer is badass, especially after watching the original one for Alien.
It's strange, is Scott tacitly suggesting that our scientific push to discover our origins may be the genesis of our downfall? Either this hunt is in our bones or, it's not...
Not sure if teaser trailer has been posted yet:

Watched a documentary called Civilization by the affable British guy who did "Art of the Western World". He goes through all the civilizations, and the at the end, after the Western Cvilization segment, he makes that essential conclusion. The seeds of our own distruction are essentially sown in the passion of our desire to explore and conquer. That maintaining a balance in life is simply impossible in a culture of sceintific exploration and control and empire.
Giant head in the poster looks like Liam Neeson.
I like that a lot of details have not come out about this film. It'd be nice to have a relatively spoiler free movie experience.
Holy. Balls. $#@!. $#@!. That was great.
Story- was in Iceland last summer and went to this volcanic field where they filmed a lot of the scenes. Apparently Scott hired like 150 locals to walk around and build little piles out of the rocks strewn all over the place. Looked really bizarre and unearthly (which is the point I guess) in the pictures I saw. People I talked to said Scott was cool and down to earth.
Cool story bro.
Both Scott brothers, Tony and Ridley, are great directors, IMO
it moved, a lot, might have leaked a little too
Seems like he is channeling John Hurt.
I don't get it though is it or is it not a prequel? WaylandYutani is certainly the connection but they are adamant its not a prequel.
It certainly is respectable that they are not mining the "alien" name with the sheeple, considering the current shape of Hollywood that is surprising.
It's both a prequel and a fresh story, as far as I see it. It's Ridley Scott's own followup to Alien, with no regard to the sequels and spinoffs others have done. The company was in Alien, so it's not a giant leap that Scott would go there.
When the monsters become gods, new monsters must be found to fill the void...
But WeylandYutani was Cameron's idea no? Its been years since I have seen Alien but the corporation was not THE evil megacorp to end all tropes, it was retconned after Aliens.
BTW Alien was a horror movie more than a science fiction one (no doubt somebody will take personal offense to that) But will watch this Prometheus period.
1) They were the evil corp. They gave orders to Ash to bring the Alien back to Earth. This is why Ripley hates $#@!ing androids in Aliens.
2) Sure it's not a science fiction film. Space was just used as a setting. It could just as easily taken place on horseback somewhere. Please...
That is ridiculous, not a horseback, a boat2) Sure it's not a science fiction film. Space was just used as a setting. It could just as easily taken place on horseback somewhere. Please...![]()

linux, what is your obsession with putting movies in one rigid, defined genre?

Because that way I can get movies that interest me more? and I don't mean in a naive way that studios will cater to me, but more realistically that such movies can be recomended here, I learned about Primer through through the shag and if people kept going on and on about soft science fiction as the pinacle of sci-fi I would have never heard of it. Yes datamining.
That said if people like me can band together so that more hard science fiction is made by indies, then I would call it a collective victory as well.
Full length trailer on the way. A very short teaser trailer for that trailer. Watch it from a taco trailer if you wish. Trailer.
Full trailer released today:
Holy $#@!

What.... the.... $#@!......
is that at the 2:12 mark?
If you haven't seen Alien
Spoiler!
A better question is what is that at the 2:15 mark?
Man...looking good. Just hope it lives up to the hype and trailer.
Also, another interesting section of the Weyland website opened up, the corporate history timeline:
