That banner is pretty goddamn cool. Especially liked the names of all the players on the fringe
Let's do this!
Missed the banner ceremony cause I was waste deep in presents... If anyone has a link please share!
Just rewound the banner raising ceremony. Awesome. Love this team.
Liking what I'm seeing out of Lamar so far.
Also clever how stern has pieces of flair he's making the players wear.
Defense has definitely taken a hit with no Tyson in the middle.
Mavs are done, why oh why did they not spend the $ to keep TysonChandler? Yes, he's asking way too much but the window is razor thin for the Mavs, now or never to win another one. Otherwise Mavs fans will need to wait another 30 years for title.
18 points in the paint in the first quarter alone. That's brutal. Also, what's the point of crying now? It's literally the first game of the year against the NBA final teams. Plenty of games to go. But I am scared of our defensive abilities.

Damn. I didn't expectg to win this game with new pieces and limited practice time, but Heat are making a f'n statement. This is a beatdown.
Did everyone else not see this coming? Bunch of new players, no practice time, against a team that thinks winning today will prove something.
adding losers like DelonteWest (did Lebron's Mom) and Vince "lazy ass" Carter is not the key to repeating. This team looks very old, nothing on defense, no spark off the bench (jj) , no inside defense (Tyson). I said last few weeks that this team is going to get bounced in Round 1.
These Mavs do have a pre-2010 look to them especially on defense. I'm confident Donny and Mark will make a trade to shore up the defense. Nevermind this team is facing the Heat with their core returning. Mavs lost Tyson and JJ.
Not surprised by the first half. I did not feel the Mavs were ready. Lots of roster adjustments, lost Coach Casey who was the force behind the defensive mind set last year, and much weaker in the front court. Miami is one of the top teams in the league so this is a good measuring stick for the progress that is needed. Dallas will come together and work things out but there will be some bad losses mixed in throughout the season.
Probably shoulda seen this coming. Mavs success is predicated on execution. Heat gameplan is to have better affoletes. Mavs have had about a week to practice, and Miami's guys were primed and ready to run and jump.
All that said, I'm not exactly encouraged by what I've seen from the center position so far. Somebody is gonna have to step up.
we have no inside presents (christmas pun), offensively or defensively.
sent from my phone. so what, big whup. wanna fight about it?
That was a world class flop by lebron.
This isn't intended as smack.
I always said Mavs would not win a championship as long as Cuban was owner.
*He was more interested in putting fannies in the seats
*He was more interested in getting flashy players that put fannies in seats than the players that address needs such as defense and toughness, (More likely to pursue a Tracy McGrady instead of a Shane Battier)
*Big spender, who would go cheap when it came time to go max contract on anyone not named Dirk (see: Steve Nash)
Sooooo......time to eat my words. I was proved wrong. Mavs won, congrats, and he did it by getting Chandler, addressing needs, even I said "Oh $#@!!" when he was signed.
But what the $#@!? I just found out yesterday.......Chandler gone.....Barrea gone.......picked up Vince $#@!ing Carter.....headcase Lamar Kardashian?
So while I give props to the Mavs for their 1st championship.......there won't be a back to back repeat, thanks to Cuban. He refused to pay Chandler, the one guy that got them over the hump, loses Barrea that gave every team nightmares and sparked his teammates, and brings in "put fannies in the seats" players like Carter (over the hill ball hog, needs too many shots, does not play Defense.) and Mr. Kardashian (soon to be over the hill, defensive liability head case) And if there was ever a time to not bring in new players or retool, and instead maintain the status quo and player familiarities, it would be a short season without a real training camp.
Like I said, not trying to talk smack, only found out about Mavs personnel moves yesterday. And up until yesterday, I $#@!ing thought Mavs were set to two-peat. I'm back to the mindset Mavs will not win another ring as long as Cuban is around, as Cuban took apart or let fall apart a championship team for all the reasons I've previously been critical of Cuban.

We need training camp. I like what I have seen from my man Beaubois so far, not so much Haywood, Odom, and Carter
We started the season 2-7 three years ago. We climbed out of that hole. I think something like that could happen this year.

Still pissed about not resigning Chandler, makes no sense to me after we have been through Shawn bradley, erick damper and a bunch of other scrubs at center
Lots of knees jerking out of sockets on this thread.
WTF was that weak call? Lamar back to back ejections?
Some things don't change:
- NBA officiating is dog $#@!
- Lebron is a flopping bitch
You were wrong about Cuban then and you're wrong about him now. Pre-2010 doesn't need to be revisited, if you or whomever feel that way about Cuban then fine. I, like a lot of people, think Cuban did what he did in name of making the team better to win a championship.
Losing Tyson (and to a lesser extent JJ, Caron, etc) was due to the new salary cap/luxury tax structure. The reasons have been hashed out in this thread as well as most media outlets that cover the Mavs. Blaming Cuban is laughable, IMO.

last Feb, I thought the Mavs had a great chance to win the title, where they won 22 or 23 games IIRC (with 1 loss by 1pt). Wow, greatest chemistry I'd seen in many years. Anyway, too hard to repeat in the NBA - only Kobe, Shaq, Jordan, Hakeem, Magic and Isaiah have done that in the last 30 years (not even Larry Bird).
Agree with all that the banner is $#@!ing pimp. Getting our $#@! pushed in puts a slight damper on things, but I'm happy the Mavs and the NBA is back in my life.
2012-2013 Dallas has only Dirk, Marion, Haywood, Roddy B and DoJo on the book. And Haywood could be amnestied. The plan is to pursue Dwight and/or DWill. And while it sucks at this moment to not have Chandler here, I'd rather throw money at young studs like Dwight and DWill than a 30 yr old Chandler whostruggles to stay healthy. Half the people here are freaking out of 12/25/2011 - there's a big picture to consider as well
when DelonteWest (one word) is on Lebron, is that Father-Son?
Breen and JVG both just commended Haslem on committing a flagrant foul in a 30 point blowout because he didn't like the way he got bumped?!? That's real smart since those can cause suspensions later on.
What else is there besides the new CBA and salary cap throwing a monkey wrench in this, and the Mavs wanting to have a little future financial flexibility to improve the team, what else am I missing?
The window is closing. Dirk only has a couple more years. The future is now. Cubans mindset should be how to get that next championship this year, and the last couple years of Dirk's career.
You telling me New York can roll with the contracts of Amare', Carmelo and Tyson Chandler and any (?) salary baggage of the Isaiah Thomas mis-management years, yet Cuban can't deal with Dirk + Chandler?
Now if Cuban has his eyes on Dwight Howard and can pull it off, this season......Executive of the year award will be due Cuban, but if that can't be pulled off until next off-season, then no ring this year.

First of all...$#@! Miami. But they look great and should be considered the favorite.
Only 15 or so practice days this year, so we are gonna look raggedy for a while.
As a mavs fan, I look at it like this: thank god we won it last year, or we would really be frustrated right now
