The Walkmen's new album will be out June 5th.

The new White Rabbits (Milk Famous) is another good/great 2012 release...
sweet vid btw
New M Ward is a dud. Also, stop inviting Zooey D to sing on your $#@!. Its very old.
Wow, that Elite Gymnastics song was outstanding. Kinda reminds me of Ulrich Schnauss. Definitely gonna check out more of their stuff.
White Rabbits is good. Father John Misty (fleet foxes drummer) is fantastic.
his early stuff as j tillman is great too if you like acoustic singer songwriter stuff. pretty sure theres a thread here or hornfans about him
fat trel is going to replace wale as the voice of dc rap. crafted raps with street rap energy on top of some rowdy crunk beats

there is an awesome comp from numero group called personal space. nothin but lo fi electro soul jams. been listening to it all afternoon..this is from it:
Nice Ford & Lopatin avatar Thrillhouse. The EG stuff is pretty decent. Thanks for the heads up.
Friend turned me onto this band "Sleep Party People," and just saw they have an album coming out tomorrow. I think it's their debut. Kind of in the vein of Mogwai, M83, Godspeed You Black Emperor!
Goddamn, that song "Myth" by Beach House is so good. I'm a sucker for that dream pop sound (Ride, Boo Radleys, Slowdive, etc).
The new M. Ward is out today.
About to download...
New album is being produced by Dan Auerbach.

Really dig the new M. Ward. "Me and my Shadow" and "Watch the Show" are particularly strong.
The Cult
New CD release in MAY 2012 entitled "Choice of Weapon". US summer tour.
This tune is nasty... love it...
the new chromatics album is killing me right now. probably gonna end up in my top 5 at the end of the year.
the new spiritualized album is good too.
the new future is worth a check if you like rap and esp. if you like "auto-tuned spit gurgles."
death grips, even if rap isn't your thing, is worth at least one listen. if someone had to label it, it would be industrial hip hop. apparently they killed it a coachella this weekend.
I heard Meg Myers this morning on 101X's Chillville.
they alluded to her as "the next Lana Del Rey"....as in, a broad whose songs are gaining traction in the blogosphere.
I dl'd her ep earlier and it's enjoyable. click to do so: Meg Myers EP free download.
she's a pretty girl.
here's her website: http://meginthedark.com/
Heard "Fronting" by Saskatchewan the other day. Liked it. Apparently, a debut album is coming this year.

Todd Snider's new album Agnostic Hymns and Stoner Fables came out in march, and is awesome and hilarious in my opinion. He's also coming out with an album of Jerry Jeff Walker covers which I'm sure will be great as well.
Because I am dealing w/ a new computer and re-ripping my entire DVD and CD collection I have not purchased one single album from 2012...
So if anybody would like to summarize??
+1 for lower dens.
if you like that, check out DIIV. used to be called dive, but they just changed their name this week out of respect for the original swedish band.
Of Monsters and Men - My Head is an Animal
Legit
Also, Tanlines - Mixed Emotions is excellent.
that and father john misty are taking up a lot of my listening time lately.
passion pit's new single is out - pretty heavy-handed lyrics (and not sung in his falsetto, which is interesting), but its a decent little jam, hope the album is a good one.

New Silversun Pickups out today.
Anybody else give this one a listen yet?
Animal Collective - Centipede Hz

I'll be dissapointed if this isn't the best album of the year - at their shows the new songs have sounded $#@!ing great. Hopefully they just changed the name of "knock you down" because this one really deserves a proper release.
Havent been here in a while.
I dont see The Lumineers mentioned anywhere on this thread.
If you liked Other Lives, then you should enjoy this band.
Here's a cut from Tallest Man on Earth's new album coming out in mid-June. Digging it.
That TMoE song is fantastic.
Here's a live performance from the Walkmen - can't wait for the new album.
NPR World Live Cafe - The Walkmen
The new Beach House is amazing. I like it a lot better than Teen Dream (which I also liked).
