Did Mizzou lie to beat WVU into the SEC?

Seems they exaggerated their yearly football budget by 33%- they claimed (and bragged about) around $20 million when they only spent $15. They claimed to be a top 20 school in football budget- instead they are #48.

Their explaination: “a staff member accidentally included a major gymnastics capital expense under the wrong heading.” So one major gymnastics expense is costs the same as a third of the football budget. God I'm glad they're gone.

It seems to me that when the SEC would have gone through their paperwork, they would have noticed the jump in the football expense and asked questions. I think that at the end of the day, the SEC probably knew their true expenditure for football but looked at their television market share and chose them for that reason. I could be wrong but this article is acting like football expenditure is the only factor they were basing their choice on.

Oh that's surely the case. I just found it interesting that Mizzou exaggerated so greatly. I would hope it wasn't the only factor the SEC looked at, but it was the only one (other than their mediocre on the field performance) that Mizzou had control over.

Yeah, from the helmet logo to the uniforms to the mascot, Mizzou is the most generic sports program ever. Penn State, at least, is so generic it became their personality. They're never good enough to be scary & never bad enough to be a running joke. They're as invisible as a fat girl at a prom.

Apparently Saban didn't want Mizzou.

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, a West Virginia grad, former governor and friend of Saban's, told the Charleston Daily Mail that he and Saban were "working toward that."

"I thought we could have been in the SEC," Manchin told the paper. "I talked to my dear friend Nick Saban about that, and, like me, he said, 'I would like West Virginia in the SEC,' and we were working toward that."

The departure of aggy and tiger have formed a bond between the rest of the Big 12 schools that didn't exist prior to this last year. The fans truly root for other Big 12 schools - especially against the breaching members. Adding TCU and WV only strengthens the solidarity because they want to be here; however, some are apprehensive about WV's hillbilly ways.

Hopefully they are just looked upon as the lovable white trash cousin that helps build a deck on your house and not the sheep humping, lying, back stabbing white trash cousin that aggy was. WV has respectable football and basketball programs so that’s a good start.

I am really looking forward to the new B12. Like the TCU matchup with TEXAS. Hopefully recent scandal at TCU doesnt hurt them to bad. That matchup has the potential to add another college game day to our schedule. Which will boost our recruiting in the metroplex in all sports. When playing in dfw should be played at jerryworld. We should be giving metro schools AD's multiple tickets to games for the coaches and top players

It would be fun if all the bigger matchups with TCU were played at Jerry World. Give TCU 70% of the tickets (or as many as they can sell) so it feels like a home game and give the visitors the rest. Obviously, I know that TCU would never give up this many home games but these would all be fun matchups to have at Jerry World:

UT/TCU
OU/TCU
WVU/TCU
Baylor/TCU - Make this one annual and allow the home team to rotate so that each gets the lion's share of tickets during their "home" year.

These would give ESPN/ABC and FOX some excellent matchups with the extra excitement that comes with playing in Jerry World.
