that dude got shushed on an elevator by an old $#@! with a hairnet on
the storyline I've waited for this show to do. the way they handle civil rights is gonna make or break the show
Episode 1 was meh. Episode 2 really got the ball rolling.
Just rewatched "Zou bisou bisou", I totally missed the "Why don't you sing like that?/Why don't you look like him?" exchange between Sterling and wife.
Is it me or is the lobby full of negroes?
way too much $#@! envy going on in the office. who's secretary sits where, who has the bigger office
that Pare scene on the ground is going to be a permanent avatar for some degenerate on this site...
Thats a perfect $#@!ing ass.
Stan is growing on me.
"Why didn't you warn me?"
"I did!"
Don was really falling apart at the end of season 4 (been rewatching this last week). He looked rejuvenated with this new marriage.
Pete seemed the most miserable for most of the episode.
oh, but i very much like no betty at all.
The first hour was just...awkward...but in a good way, I think that was they were going for..alot of people standing around trying to make useless conversation
one of the best exchanges still hasn't been touched on here... after roger's "negroes in the lobby" comment, pete calls the ad a childish prank, sterling "you are certainly above thsoe aren't you" and pete just gave him a smirk in regards to the fake coney island meeting
I forgot... what happened last season to where Sterling isn't getting new business? Is he now just a figurehead?
sterling really hasn't done anything but keep up the relationship with lucky strike (until he didn't anymore) since his heart attack in season 1. they hired duck phillips to basically do his job at the end of season 1.
pete setting up that fake meeting with coca cola at 6am was just damn funny
both of these. also i don't like skinny harry crane, and i like seasons 1-3 crane more than 4+. he's become way douchey, and he used to be neurotic and great. he wasn't even wearing a bow-tie.
bunch of character development storylines starting now. ordinarily, i'd be worried, but with this show, you know they'll do something with all of them.
Roger Sterling's constant irreverance makes him easily my favorite character on the show. I wish I had a list of all of his quips that have cracked me up.
The loss of the Lucky Strike account was at the end of season 4, was it not? I wondered how they were gonna move forward with that, because I thought the firm was dependent on that account for their solvency. But there wasn't a single mention of it in the premiere, so I assume they're making do, although perhaps barely so.
Best LOL of this episode:
"1960-1965: Toted that barge. Lifted that bale". $#@!ing hilarious.
For anyone who might be unfamiliar with the musical Showboat, those lyrics are from the song Ol' Man River.

That Peggy gif reminds me of Joan Cusack in Sixteen Candles.
The Roger "bonjour" line ans subsequent dance was the highlight for me.
I liked how Cosgrove made it sound lie the climb would be such an easy process
To be honest, I'm not sure I care about the civil rights portrayal in this show, at least from a "make or break" perspective. It makes for interesting side stories and historical context but the whole of Mad Men is about Don Draper.
Whoever said the show felt weird is right on, imo. It may have felt weird because we found ourselves in an evolved Mad Men universe, but part of that evolution feels like it ignored some of the loose ends from season 4. I spent the last week rewatching that season, was up to speed on the storyline, and just found myself lost and/or uninterested during most of last night's episode.
That said, I have faith Weiner is gonna wreck my world like he always does. No worries from me -- just glad to have this thing back on the air.
man, she has some big boobs
Great start to the season.
As others have noted, Roger Sterling was knocking it out of the park for most of the night.
"Bonjour!"
In the discussion about changing offices, loved how Crane told Roger that he (Roger) owed him. Roger's response: "I won't owe you anything. This is the transaction."
Happy Don is a $#@!ty ad man. Odds of them having a black secretary this season appears to be about 100%. Don has a sweet apartment
^^ how long before he sleeps with her and when I say "sleep" I mean sex.
