And that's why Fehrety is the greatest - "if he pulls it out of anywhere it's not going to be the bag"

    And Phil does.

Three solid drives with Phil being the short man off the tee. Might be advantage Phil if he hits his approach stiff.

    One more hole!

And it's hard to imagine a better hole than the 10th at Riviera CC for a sudden death hole.

I gave up playing golf and watching over-bloated millionaires tap little white balls around several years ago. I highly recommend it. You'll be amazed at all the life that's out there. Same with basketball and baseball. Total waste of $#@!ing time. BTW, I have an original set of Taylor Made Burner Bubbles for sale, if anyone is interested. And a lot of MLB baseballs.

Then why are you posting on the PGA thread? Maybe you're right, though. Maybe we should just quit watching all sports.

Great theater today. Been a fan of Haas's ever since I read Feinstein's Q School book.

Keegan Bradley drives me nuts with all of his pre-shot routines.

WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship first round pairings (comments by the blogger) .......

β€’ Luke Donald (1), England, vs. Ernie Els (64), South Africa. [*Both shot 78 in the final round at Riviera, but Luke missed the cut last year at the NTO and then went on to win the Match Play, so he's got that going for him!]

β€’ Rory McIlroy (2), Northern Ireland, vs. George Coetzee (63), South Africa. [*Now everyone will know what George Coetzee looks like...wait, if he even makes the telecast. Go Rors! -- his 2012 U.S. debut.]

β€’ Lee Westwood (3), England, vs. Nicolas Colsaerts (62), Belgium.

β€’ Martin Kaymer (4), Germany, vs. Greg Chalmers (61), Australia.

β€’ Steve Stricker (5), United States, vs. Kevin Na (60), United States.

β€’ Webb Simpson (6), United States, vs. Matteo Manassero (59), Italy. [*Both don't hit it incredibly long, so this should be a good match -- I'll take Manny.]

β€’ Jason Day (7), Australia, vs. Rafael Cabrera Bello (58), Spain.

β€’ Adam Scott (8), Australia, vs. Robert Rock (57), England. [*So dreamy! So GQ! Hint: Guys, this will be the group all the ladies will be following.]

β€’ Dustin Johnson (9), United States, vs. Jim Furyk (56), United States. [*You could say their games are on the opposite sides of the spectrum.]

β€’ Charl Schwartzel (10), South Africa, vs. Gary Woodland (55), United States. [*This could be intriguing...]

β€’ Bill Haas (11), United States, vs. Ryo Ishikawa (54), Japan. [*Last week's thrilling champ against the Japanese rock star -- can't go wrong!]

β€’ Graeme McDowell (12), Northern Ireland, vs. Y.E. Yang (53), South Korea.

β€’ Matt Kuchar (13), United States, vs. Jonathan Byrd (52), United States.

β€’ Nick Watney (14), United States, vs. Darren Clarke (51), Northern Ireland.

β€’ Sergio Garcia (15), Spain, vs. Miguel Angel Jimenez (50), Spain. [*Battle of the Spaniards. I got Serg winning it all, so, let's go!]

β€’ K.J. Choi (16), South Korea, vs. Kyle Stanley (49), United States. [*Potentially a good duel...]

β€’ Brandt Snedeker (17), United States, vs. Retief Goosen (48), South Africa.

β€’ Keegan Bradley (18), United States, vs. Geoff Ogilvy (47), Australia. [*The Spitter and the 'Stash?]

β€’ Tiger Woods (19), United States, vs. Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (46), Spain. [*Because it's Tiger, who in the past couple of years has had a habit of...well, never mind.]

β€’ Bubba Watson (20), United States, vs. Ben Crane (45), United States. [*Fast play vs. Slow play]

β€’ Hunter Mahan (21), United States, vs. Zach Johnson (44), United States. [*Whose sunglasses are more hideous?]

β€’ Justin Rose (22), England, vs. Paul Lawrie (43), Scotland.

β€’ Ian Poulter (23), England, vs. Bae Sang-moon (42), South Korea.

β€’ Thomas Bjorn (24), Denmark, vs. Francesco Molinari (41), Italy.

β€’ Bo Van Pelt (25), United States, vs. Mark Wilson (40), United States.

β€’ Simon Dyson (26), England, vs. John Senden (39), Australia.

β€’ Alvaro Quiros (27), Spain, vs. Martin Laird (38), Scotland.

β€’ Louis Oosthuizen (28), South Africa, vs. Aaron Baddeley (37), Australia.

    Some morning-hungover thoughts

It's good to see top players playing and dealing with the older, historic courses. You watched these guys struggle with the turf, the marine layer, all the little quirks, it was fun and I hope it continues.

Pay attention to the flags next to players names, there's been a strong American presence so far. 7 for 7, but this was the first tourney with a strong Euro presence. More to come, hopefully from the Americans.

$#@! the long putters, or should I say, $#@! anchoring the putter into your gut. Haas was great, that was a clutch putt, but lets put the short stick back in these players hands. I'm not convinced Keegan would be that great, if he and his nerves couldn't anchor that putter.

Sergio had a strong Sunday, Dustin Johnson's short game and mine are comparable, Phil has had a nice lil run, Keegan has the look of a boy who is scared of the dark, yet has won a major and is 2-1 in playoffs. I don't get it.

*Random, interesting note of the week: Mickelson drops to 21 of 31 when holding the third-round lead/co-lead.

Below shows players’ records when they held or shared the lead going into the final round of a stroke-play event on TOUR (this includes 72-hole and 90-hole events). This is not a β€œbest of” ranking. There may be players who have better numbers than what is listed below. This list does not include the International.

    Tiger Woods – 48 of 52 – 92.30 %

    Ernie Els – 12 of 16 – 75.00%

    Johnny Miller – 15 of 22 – 68.18%

    Phil Mickelson – 21 of 31 – 67.74%

    Mark O’Meara – 10 of 15 – 66.66%

    Arnold Palmer – 32 of 49 – 65.30%

    Nick Price – 09 of 14 – 64.28%

    Lanny Wadkins – 10 of 16 – 62.50%

    Lee Trevino – 15 of 25 – 60.00%

    Jack Nicklaus – 38 of 64 – 59.37%

    Vijay Singh – 18 of 31 – 58.06%

    Curtis Strange – 11 of 19 – 57.89%

    Steve Stricker – 08 of 15 – 53.33%

    Jim Furyk – 10 of 19 – 52.63%

    Hale Irwin – 12 of 23 – 52.17%

    Tom Watson – 26 of 44 – 50.09%

    Ben Crenshaw – 10 of 19 – 52.63%

    Gary Player – 10 of 21 – 47.61%

    Raymond Floyd – 12 of 27 – 44.44%

    Tom Kite – 08 of 20 – 40.00%

For reals, 92% is sick and if you look at the past tour events this year, you can see just how hard it is to hold onto the lead. Another amazing number, is he's had the lead after 54 holes 52 TIMES and he's in his mid 30's. Insane

Yeah, I'd like to see a record when second or within 1 or 2 shots after three rounds. I know Woods has never done it in a major, but is his overall that bad (bad being relative of course).
