great win for dufner. held off els and donald, among others.
coangrats on the two year blanket
so what is the shaggy opinion for Tiger this week at the Wells Fargo/Charlotte, Quail Hollow event?
cut/miss cut?
top 20/10/win?
I say makes the cut, gets tons more media then his play deserves and finishes outside the top 20.
Tiger's heading for a Top 10 this week, and then he'll be underwhelming at The Players next week.
Rickie Fowler starting it off the right way at -6. My boy Keegan is at -2, playing with Lefty who really had to work for his -1 after a triple at 13. About an hour and a half until Tiger and then Rory tees of 10 minutes later.
Also I forgot times were EST so they're all under way.
[/Lloyd Christmas] I was WAY off [\Lloyd Christmas]
Tiger is a piece of $#@!.
I knew it started with a "S" though.
So, Tiger gets a free drop after he hits one into the trees and the ball "disappears." The reason is that they suspect a fan might have pocketed it, since they had a pretty good idea where it landed but no on could find it. I wonder if other players get the benefit of the doubt like that?
Tiger gets free drop
Seems to me the right call was made:
18-1. By Outside Agency
If a ball at rest is moved by an outside agency, there is no penalty and the ball must be replaced.
Note: It is a question of fact whether a ball has been moved by an outside agency. In order to apply this Rule, it must be known or virtually certain that an outside agency has moved the ball. In the absence of such knowledge or certainty, the player must play the ball as it lies or, if the ball is not found, proceed under Rule 27-1.
27-1. Stroke and Distance; Ball Out of Bounds; Ball Not Found Within Five Minutes
a. Proceeding Under Stroke and Distance
At any time, a player may, under penalty of one stroke, play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5), i.e., proceed under penalty of stroke and distance.
Except as otherwise provided in the Rules, if a player makes a stroke at a ball from the spot at which the original ball was last played, he is deemed to have proceeded under penalty of stroke and distance.
b. Ball Out of Bounds
If a ball is out of bounds, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5).
c. Ball Not Found Within Five Minutes
If a ball is lost as a result of not being found or identified as his by the player within five minutes after the player’s side or his or their caddies have begun to search for it, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5).
Exception: If it is known or virtually certain that the original ball, that has not been found, has been moved by an outside agency (Rule 18-1), is in an obstruction (Rule 24-3), is in an abnormal ground condition (Rule 25-1) or is in a water hazard (Rule 26-1), the player may proceed under the applicable Rule.
I guess the question is whether it was "known or virtually certain" that a fan grabbed the ball. Seems like a pretty high bar to meet, unless someone actually saw the guy pick it up. I'm curious to hear whether that was the case (and how often such rulings are made when a ball goes missing).
that's weird. he was really dialed in over the weekend prior
TMZ has obtained a photo of Tiger Woods back in the danger zone -- the Las Vegas pool party scene -- where he was SURROUNDED by hot chicks in bikinis ... and a TON of security.
Woods quietly hit the Liquid pool party at the Aria Hotel on Saturday ... sporting a t-shirt, shades ... and a ringless wedding finger.
Sources at the pool tell us Tiger was flanked by a security team -- like the behemoth on the far right -- while he visited with a couple of friends inside a private cabana.![]()
Buh, bye, Tiger, you worthless piece of $#@!.
What was that between Rory & Rickie? Did they have some words? Have the volume down
looks to be an exciting back 9 on Sunday. we'll see if DA Points can hold off some bigger names, including the soon to be world's #1.

who do you like to win?
how many ball in the water on 17 for the tournament?
Good ole Peter Alliss, part of his HOF speech
Alliss won 23 times on the European Tour and played on eight Ryder Cup teams until he switched over to the BBC, and his straight talk and brilliant command of the language made him perhaps the most recognizable voice of golf around the world. He worked his 50th consecutive British Open last year.
He also became the first inductee to flip the bird.
He ended a wonderful tale of golf and his career with a short about the headmistress at his school, Violet Weymouth, who wrote in her final report of his studied that "Peter does have a brain, but he's rather loathe to use it. I fear for his future."
His parents died long ago.
"And if there is such a thing as heaven and if people do look down ... Well, mom and dad, here we are. Look at this lot. Look where I've been. Look what I've done. Never worked very hard at it, but it's all fallen into place.
"And Mrs. Weymouth, if you're there." Alliss held up his middle finger.

I always hear how big a dbag he is but I never see it. He always seems like a good guy from what I've seen.
I covered a lot of golf in my sportswriter days and I always great experiences with Phil. Have heard stories about him being a phony but I don't have first-hand knowledge. Apparently, all the caddies hate his guts for some reason, he and Amy may or may not have an open marriage and so on. Again, he was terrifically accommodating to me. I'm a fan.
(Also, if that's the article that is in this week's PLAYERS preview mag from SI, I've read a little of it and it's good.)
Sergio's been playing pretty well lately. I think he'll have a solid week at TPC and a top 10 finish.
My understanding is that:
Phil is a lone wolf on tour. His "friends" on tour are his team, his sponsors and certain members of the media (i.e., the people interested in and capable of driving the Phil narrative and agenda). Phil has no use for anyone on tour unless they have a use for him.
Tiger and a bunch of other players are corporate shills as well, but they are generally capable of bullshitting in the locker room like normal people. Phil used to kind of try to interact with other players but it just led to him being labeled as FIGJAM and he doesn't even make the effort anymore.
imo, Phil, like many celebrities, got caught up in being what the media and general public perceive him to be and it is now difficult for him to exist as a "real" person. That drives the accusations of phoniness
FWIW - Live @ 17 is up & running on pgatour.com (you can watch the splash down)
Cabrera hit 3 balls into the water on 17. made a 9. ouch
Poulter in the house at 7 under. Sure he's a good guy and all, but damn, what a douche.
