If that was really Manning spouting off, I'm assuming this rises to the level of pulling his offer??
ESPN list out. Y'all aren't going to like it.

laquivionte gonzales is the 50th best player in the country? kohl stewart is 51?
my mind is blown.
Keith Ford in the top-40 nationally is a joke.
I'm a fan of the ESPN 150 because they usually pimp the Texas commits hard, but I'm not sure anyone actually takes them seriously. Rivals and 247 are probably your better sources for more accurate rankings.
Sounds like a ME major to me
Did I miss him or is Prevot not in the 150
Edit: he is not in the 150 and is rated the number 21 DE in the country.

Pretty good name for a DT prospect
Here's the ESPN rankings for the state of Texas at this point.

Like I said on the other thread: ESPN has not updated their numbers yet. This is the exact same order they released the watch list in. It should be viewed as outdated.
The only thing "released" is the number grades.
Damn, so Reuben Foster who is #2 overall has a 3 year old child already. Should fit right in at Bama.

so two more transfers means our # goes up by 2. any new offer possibilities not already talked about?
I think one of them was to get us down to 85 in the summer after the freshman report. So only one extra scholarship for 2013 at the moment.

This is probably my favorite tweet from Jinkens during that conversation from last night:
This one was good too:peter jinkens @RIPS_SHIRT_OFF
Ion care who it is!! If my mama talkin trash bout Texas I'm sorry mama I love u but yo ass gettin knocked da f**k out too lmfao!
peter jinkens @RIPS_SHIRT_OFF
Ill take up for Texas jus like I'll take up for skyline let me catch a sooner talkin trash I'm straight sliding they ass!!!!
"Slidin they ass" is the new "slept they coach"
is te not in important in this offense? like being able to do more than poehlmann or matthews? we've got a redshirt freshman and a kid that's not signed yet as "depth" here. greg daniels gonna light the world on fire or something? i've no problem with offering either of the other guys you listed. rsj gets to play where he wants and he'll probably be good enough to stick wherever he starts out at...he's the best player we're getting this class.
I hope he's good but I'm worried he's kind of a tweener. At his height I'm sure he'll make a lot of catches wherever he lines up, but may not have elite speed/agility to yac at WR or the strength to dominate at TE. And with all the other talent we're getting, saying he's the best player in this class seems like a stretch to me even though the scouts think so.
I remember awhile back we were discussing Jake's positionCelina’s Jake Raulerson, who is being recruited as a defensive end to Texas but could easily play on the offensive line, is the No. 78 prospect overall and No. 5 offensive tackle
I'm not arguing that the TE position is a huge question mark. However, the solution isn't to offer more duds. We had around 8 or 9 useless TEs the past few years on wasted scholarships. No need to waste more. At this point we need to hope that the evaluations of Blueitt and Smythe were on point. Then there are guys like RSJ and Raulerson that will have a chance at that position. We still have McFarland on the roster who has the potential to be J-mike. The staff needs to fix their evaluations, not recruit another bench player like Morgan. There is a reason he doesn't have an offer from Texas, LSU, ou, or aggy.

Massington goes out of his way to avoid contact in his film and the same has been seen in his camp play. You think that translates to TE? I realize folks like his measurables, but I hate his film. He looks like a Bobby Kennedy special. No doubt the dude can run a go route, though.
It sure seems like Texas has addressed TEs in this class, in any event.
I approve. No denying what you see on paper about Massington, the guy has size, is built, and can run. But when you turn on the film, I just don't see a guy that can do anything more than run straight downfield. No wiggle, questionable route running, and doesn't seem very slippery.
Having said that, go routes and the ability to stretch the field were critical in Harsin's O at Boise (T. Young comes to mind), so maybe this is the kind of guy we need.
I think the ability to stretch the field in any offense is critical, of course. That considered, I don't think Titus Young and Massington resemble each other much, and they used Young all over the field up there. Give me Rhodes, Wilson and the other WRs and APBs committed or on the team and the 2013-2014 seasons feel pretty good on that side of the lineup.
that's the old staff though. we still need depth there, i don't think greg daniels is it. soon it'll just be mcfarland, smythe, and daniels. i forgot about blueitt but it's not a certainty that either him or raulerson can be a te. they don't think they're done at te/h-back if they're still hovering around gow and gaines, right? i honestly don't know what they're thinking or if we're still even in on those guys...are they?
I think Raulerson stays at DE all 4 years.
I have nothing to support my thoughts. I have no inside scoop.
Raulerson -
"What he is not is the genetically freakish athlete than can just walk into a different meeting room and start rushing the passer, I don't see an Aaron Humphrey ceiling here. I see a kid who is an expert at what he does, and any talk of moving positions is just a hedge in case he can't gain the needed size. . .
His good news for you is that he's probably the most polished, perfect offensive lineman I have ever seen in high school. . . Bottom line is, he needs another 30 pounds at least to play OL, and my personal opinion is that Texas will always have better DEs than what he could become."

Eh, that author is an idiot.
You don't give scholarships to a player with the plan that he'll be the 3rd or 4th string TE for "depth." Your depth mostly comes from players you recruited to be starters one day who couldn't quite take hold of a starting spot. In a smaller class like this one, I don't see any way we spend another scholarship on a TE with one allocated to Smythe and RSJ and Raulerson also on board.
