    No Pujols, no problem... right?

    I'm sure Adam Wainwright is going to back to his old dominating self, right?

    Beltran and Puma are going to stay healthy, right?

    The NL Central is kind of a wasteland with no real threats any more, right?

    Don't think they'll repeat but if they stay healthy should contend.
    We were around last fall when simply the most exciting World Series of my lifetime occurred. Other than that, no biggie.

    Not that upset about Pujols. I think we got the best years out of him. We'll be fine.

    Ha ha... I figured some of you guys wouldn't care for this.

    I guess maybe me, phdhorn and Dewy can keep this going all year.

    Re: LaRussa - I know there seemed to be a large contingent of Cardinals fans who were never happy with him, despite the results... but I don't know how we can't miss him. The dude is sure-fire HOF'er and brought us two World Series championships. There has to be a fall-off.

    I'm also worried about losing Dunc, but Derrick Lilliquist has been in the Cards organization (essentially under Duncan) for 10 years... and he's been Duncan's right-hand man (pitching coordinator) for 3-4 years.

    As for the haters, $#@! 'em (with love). You're right, Cards get Astros hate for obvious divisional reasons (though they suck $#@! through a straw and of course are going to plague the AL it looks like) and Rangers fans, who I actually feel sympathy for. That was a tough ordeal, probably don't want to see a reminder of that.

    But, we didn't make the rules and this isn't Nam, so $#@! it. I'm not going to stop now after 4 decades.

    Bring the Cardinals $#@! here, I'll be around. Ignore the "funny" posts. No one has to post here. If they do I just ignore the vitriol.

    The Cardinals have given me my fair share of happiness through the years, and I love 'em. Always will.

    The biggest things that the Cards have going for them is that the Central is going to be very watered down this year.

    The Brewers will be without Fat Fielder and (likely) without Braun for almost 1/3 of the season. Not sure what to make of the Reds. The Cubs and the Pirates will likely play their traditional roles.

    Assuming Wainwright is anywhere near his old self, the Cards should easily have the best rotation and bullpen in the division.

    Health will be the biggest issue in the lineup. That's where I think they'll miss Pujols the most. His constant presence always helped carry the team through times when other key players were injured or out.

    We really need Puma and Beltran to stay healthy. We also really need Freese to show that he can play more than about 120 games in a season.

    I wasn't terribly hopefully after Wainwright went down in ST last year.

    Once you make the playoffs it doesn't matter what happened in the regular season. I feel as like if we can stay healthy then we should have no problem winning the NL central. Yadda yadda yadda, this is nothing that Cardinals fans don't already know. I'm just $#@!ing pumped for some baseball again.

    Hope i can visit Busch again this summer, it's been too long.

    By the way, ESPN ran some great WS review show just after the Series. It was fantastic, awesome. Does anyone know what this was called, how I might get a copy, or time (for taping), etc.? Did anyone see it?

    I know it wasn't MLB Channel, because I was surprised it was on ESPN.

    Love this veteran team under the masterful supervision of Duncan and LaRussa……oh furk. At least the Brewers will be worse and Dusty Baker still manages the Reds.

    Probably a little steep, but he's been the best defensive catcher in baseball for his entire career, and he just finished having a career year in hitting.

    I also think he's going to be even more invaluable working with the pitching staff now that Dunc' is gone.

    I'm moderately concerned about overpaying, but I would be more upset if we would have lost him to free agency. The veteran core of the team is now set for the next 5 years: Carpenter (until he retires), Wainwright, Holiday, Molina. Then you've got the young core: Garcia, Freese, Craig, Motte.

    Can't wait for opening day!

    Molina might just be worth that, if anyone today is, for what he brings to the table on all sides. Has hit better than expected over past few years.

    Miklasz's article is pretty good. Plus he was only a so-so "keep Albert" guy so he's not a rednose.

    Encouraging news.

    Starting for the first time in over a year, Wainwright pitched two scoreless innings for the St. Louis Cardinals in a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

    Wainwright struck out two and walked one in his first outing since Sept. 24, 2010.

    "I haven't accomplished anything yet, but there's a sense that my rehab process is coming to an end," Wainwright said. "I'm a normal pitcher again."
