Also, I know we can't do this, but just curious:

If we were allowed to trade individual draft picks, is there anyone in this league that would give up their first and 4th round picks for the no.1 overall pick?


So maybe instead of picking 11th, 18th, 38th, and 45th, you'd pick 1st, 18th, 38th, and then not again until pick 65. If I did that math right, which is a near impossibility.

Yeah we've done that in some of my football leagues and I'd be open to offers for my no.1 pick so long as the league approved it similar to a trade. Someone might value Pujols, Kemp, Cabrera, whoever enough to give me that trade, and it's one that I'd have to actually research (which I havent done at all seeing as this is hypothetical) to see if it could work well for both parties.

Draft pick trading has been on/allowed since I opened the league.

The only caveat is you have to trade an equal number of picks. So your 1st and 8th for his 1st and 4th would work.

i will not vote against this, if it comes to that, but i am against this type of trading, and here's why.

derka didn't suck his way into the #1 pick, he got it on a random luck of the draw. and no one should be allowed to prosper from that type of random luck. i pick 13th, and if i really wanted to pick 4th, i would have to find someone who wanted to pick 13th for the whole draft, assuming all pick positions are equal (which i think they are). but if someone lucks into the #1 slot, and ends up with two 4th round picks because of it, then that's not fair to the league.

I can see that logic. But Derka's 1 and 4 for his 1st isnt a logical trade. Usually its a 1st round swap with a 3/4 swap or later, not a 4th straight up.

If all 14 guys (or most anyway) are coming back next season, we can take the regular season final standings and reverse the order for the draft order in the 2013 draft. Then luck of the draw wont have anything to do with it.

in all honesty, i'm having some trouble nailing down a strategy from the #14 position. there are going to be 26 guys taken after i make the 2nd of my back-to-back picks each time. that is A LOT of quality players going off the board in between my picks and there are some really shallow positions this year. usually, i just go best player available and not worry about positions in the first 4-5 rounds, but i don't know if i should do that this year.

there is someone i plan on taking at #14/15 though that is going to royally piss me off if one of you $#@!s take him in front of me. that's the only thing i'm sure of going in to this draft.

Looking at my team, I am banking on bounce back years from a few guys (Heyward, Ethier, Morneau, Morales) and improvements from young guys (Bonifacio, Castro, Stanton, Worley, Hellickson).

There were 5 rounds where I had a guy queued up and he got taken 1 or 2 picks in front of me. $#@!s
