General Casino Thread

I did a quick search and couldn't find a good thread to bump. This could serve a good purpose.

My initial question: where is the best place near Mobile AL to play poker? Biloxi? If there, what's the best casino.

Never been to that party of the country myself, but everything I've heard about best casino in the area (including from a couple of friends) points to Beau Rivage in Biloxi. Not sure exactly how far that is from Mobile, but don't think it's too far down I-10?

That's where I ended up, per TXSonners rec. Only an hour west. Very nice hotel and casino. Poker room was smallish, but having an uncapped buyin at 1/2 resulted in about $20k being on the table. Larger write up later, I just got back after a 36 hour binge.

On another note, I don't like the way Cesar's has its casino laid out. Minus the main pit area, it seems like $#@! is just thrown in hallways. They increased the size quicker than than they were ready for maybe. Also the craps tables suck cause its impossible to hit any points.

Not real sure about your first question. I went straight to the Poker room. Seemed very big, with lots of shops and restaurants though. Also had live band playing at the bar/club when you first came into the casino floor.

All 1/2 was uncapped. Only 2-3 2/5 tables going. They seems very reggy. Plus regs at my table were saying the same thing. Decent player to my right with $1.5k in front of him said the 2/5 game usually sucked.

Hollywood casino, its mostly locals though. They hate aggressive, but loose to it.

Hitting Winstar Sun afternoon (after playing their golf course) through Tues morning. should be nice and soft w the pros in Vegas! Interestingly, they sent me an offer for two free nights and another for two free buffets, and ive never played anything but poker there

duncan was at caesars when i was there a few years ago. didnt play with him but this guy told me about a hand he was in. duncan had pocket kings. flop a-a-k. duncan was drawing dead on the flop. other guy had pocket aces. him losing $1400 or whatever on that hand would be like me losing $1.40.

was up at winstar on saturday night with some friends to play some cash poker. never seen it so crowded, due to the satellite tournament going on i guess. waited over an hour to get on a table so i watched the 10/25NL game for a bit. some decent sized stacks (>$10,000) going at it. Maria Ho was there watching for awhile.

played some 2/5NL and then moved over to a little 1/2NL to finish up and hit quad 5's for a nice payout. stayed way later than we expected, saw 2 people pulled over for DWI on the way home, southbound on 35 near lewisville.

Went to Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, IL near O'Hare. It's fairly new (I think it opened less than two years ago), nice looking inside, and clean. It is also non-smoking.

Defintely not a Vegas crowd. Lots of locals here, many who are stressing their losses. We went on a Sunday so it wasn't too crowded overall, but the table games were packed.

They do have craps so if you're looking to kill some time close to O'Hare or just want to get in a few rolls on your next trip to Chicago it could be worth a trip.

I used to have a customer in Des Plains. I drove by that place a dozen times watching it go up and was really looking forward to having something to do if I needed to kill some time. They are no longer a customer.
