With Dirk you could say he can win with the right pieces around him, as he proved. They don't even have to be great players, you could have spare parts like Jason Terry and Shawn Marion and Dirk could still win a championship. Deron Williams needs another star at least to contend, he can't win with the likes of Roddy B and Ian Mahinmi. 1 year of Dirk in his prime is worth more than Deron Williams' entire career, if you're goal is to win championships.
And where exactly is Dirk going? Oh, you must mean can he do it in 5 years when nobody has any clue what the league/rosters will look like. Tell me, great wizard, what are the prospects looking like for the 2014 NBA draft? Or free agency in 2015?
365 days ago, people didn't think Dirk could win a championship as the best player on a team (or at least without a second top-25 caliber player). One organization did. They get the benefit of the doubt, not the biased detractors.
He steered us to a title. You and OP are steering logic into the goddamn mountain.
Yes one season where we may or may not go far in the playoffs is how Cuban should be judged. Just throw out the fact that his team won it all last year. Keep hanging onto the fact that we let go of Tyson Chandler as if that's the biggest mistake ever made in the NBA. And its not if the Spurs have never made a dumb decision in their history.
Yes we have, you just ignore it. We have explained on numerous threads the thought process regarding the new CBA that led to those decisions. Of course some decisions might not be correct, especially in hindsight. But most of us realize why they were made, and generally agree with them (this past offseason especially). You just keep trolling different threads where the words Mavs, Cuban, Dirk, or LHG are mentioned. It's like you have an alarm.
I think you're giving this regard too much credit calling him a troll. This $#@!ing moron has ZERO understanding of the CBA, and frankly from what I've read likely doesn't the mental capacity to comprehend how it changed the business of basketball no matter how hard he tried.
I was wrong giving MK the benefit of being smarter than the OP. they are equally blinded by bias and $#@!ing stupid.
just to clarify, "letting go" of Nash ddnt really happen. Phoenix offerred him more years than anyone else, and he took it. nobody saw two mvps coming or that he would still be ballin like this in 2012. plus, we picked up Jason Eugene Terry because Nash left and without him we have no trophy. we would have never picked up Kidd either. Nash was my favorite player but calling that move terrible is just not really fair.
Now, with Chandler, I can't excuse that.
btw, there are way worse moves he has made over the years. remember the raef lafrentz contract?
Bruce Bowen and Artest are 1000 times the Scumbag that West will ever be. He made a $#@!ing mistake and he paid for it, let it go and stop acting like an ignorant jackass. And if you think that giving JJ 20 million dollars was a smart move you've lost all credibility.
oh delonte. just misunderstood. nice tech.
