The best pick of the draft came via a trade. The Falcons getting Asante Samuel for a 7th round is highway robbery. A guy on NFLN said that only 9% of all 6th and 7th rounders ever become full-time starters. The Falcons gave up their pick for a stud corner who will give them 4-5 levels of great secondary play. They also have a top 3-4 corner tandem in the league now that they have Asante and Dunta back there. The Panthers, Saints, and Bucs aren't going to be able to light up that secondary nearly as much anymore.
Heard a rumor that of the 15 Texans taken in the first 3 rounds, ZERO were offered by Texas.
True?
I'm actually having listen to a few of the morons on another site bitch and complain that Leach sucked because he didn't land RGIII or Tanneyhill. they also say it's TSO's fault that for the first time in 15 years, a Red raider wasn't drafted. I say it's a lack of coaching for the past 2 years...
My bigger point is, that if that first tidbit is true, that even Mr February misses on some....
That's a damn joke too. They have a RB by committee there. Besides who was the last LSU back to pan out in the NFL? Dominick Davis had a couple of good seasons, but he flamed out quickly.
So much wrong with that list. Keenan Allen is not a top overall pick. Unless you are Megatron 2.0, you have very little chance of being a top 5 pick much less the top overall guy. I could see Barkley being a top 5 pick (he's not talented enough for it though, but at least he's not a douchebag like Leinhart), I just don't see it being to Jacksonville. I don't think they'll give up on Gabbert after two years. When your top two receiving options are an average tight end and a 5'7 running back, you need weapons. Blackmon will help, but they'll need at least 3 seasons to get an accurate assessment of if Gabbert can be a productive pro or not. He does have the physical tools, he just needs to get the mental aspect down. Marcus Lattimore is too low. He's not quite the athlete that Adrian Peterson was, but he's far more polished as a receiver and a blocker. If he comes back from that injury better than before, he'll be a top 5 guy. There is absolutely no way that the Honey Badger will be a first round pick. Zero. He put up some numbers in college, but that's because Claiborne and their other corners were lock down the outside so that gave him favorable matchups and made it easier for him to blitz off the edge. Guy will be a nickelback at best. Alabama proved in the NCG game that if you attack him in he passing and running game rather than wait for him passively that you can shut him down and make him quit. Robert Lester and Eddie Lacy have no business in the first round. Looks like they just took top names from top name colleges and just threw them on there hoping they stick. No more than 10-12 of those guys will actually be first rounders.
Darron Thomas is the Jevan Snead of this class. A QB with somewhat pedestrian numbers who had absolutely no business leaving college early.
Every bit of this is ridiculously early but don't discount either Lester or Lacy. Lester was tied for the FBS lead in INT's in 2010 and people avoided throwing the ball to whichever side he was on this year. He is likely to be one of the top safeties coming out next year. Lacy may or may not end up as one of the top backs but he has the skill set and a wicked spin move. His only issue is ball security but he seemed to have solved that during this past season. Both of them may very well end up first round, then again they could end up being 3rd rounders. Fluker and Jones are almost mortal locks, barring injury. Bottom line, that is just a bunch of names someone threw together based upon potential.
Did I miss why Jeff Fuller went undrafted? Did he get hurt late? Seemed like a sure fire early round draft pick.
So Gideon signed with the Cardinals
Christian Scott got a deal with the Titans
Cody Johnson got on with the Bucs........did anybody take a flyer on Fozzy? I can't seem to find any info.....
Looks like Justin Tucker did went to the Ravens after all.
Poor Fozzy, that kid has the worst of luck. Just when he was finally starting to shine an injury strikes again, what a damn shame. Hopefully he latches on somewhere.
Fozzy to the steelers! Make it happen.
I wasn't trying to take a dig at your boys, but more or less the laughable nature of his picks. Fluker and Jones are absolute monsters on the o-line. Jones could have been a first round this year and Fluker would have been a top 40-50 guy. McCarron is going to have plenty of time to work with in the pocket next year. I just want to see who steps on your offense not that you've lost Jones, Ingram, and T-Rich in successive years.
Correct. As well as being consistently tied up by even smaller corners off the line.
Still, he's good at going up for the ball, catching in traffic, and showed much better hands in previous years before his disastrous senior season. Might be something to work with.
Lacy, TJ Yeldon, Fowler and Dee Hart should be enough in the backfield. We may have the best group of WR since Saban arrived(none as good as Julio but a better group). Lacy will not come out unless he has a monster year and get's the greenlight from Saban. Believe it or not, Saban still has strong ties in the NFL and he finds out if his players are 1st round bound, then advises them on whether to stay or go. Lester will be leaving either way but if he shows out like in 2010, I think he will have 1st round potential, most likely late 1st round. I agree that the list that was posted is haphazardly put together, including putting Lacy and Lester there at this point. I just happen to agree that those are the 4 most likely Bama players for 1st round next year.
Brandon Collins to the Giants. Ben Wells to the Redskins.
I can't wait for Gideon to drop a Super Bowl-saving interception. $#@! that guy.
many are predicting a USC-LSU title game next year but how will LSU get there when losing 3 NFL DBs and a stud NFL DT? Even if they make it to Miami, won't Barkley carve them up like no one they have witnessed playing in the SEC?
That preliminary draft list is stupid. There is no $#@!ing way in hell WRs are going #1 and #2 in the draft unless the franchises drafting there are complete regards.
i'd favor alabama over lsu as the sec team to beat at this point.
