You do realize that most NFL teams only have 3 RBs active on gamedays along with 1 FB. Obviously Dixon is gone, but what are you going to do with the other RBs? The only one that can play special teams is Hunter and that's as a return guy. Jacobs and Gore are too old and too slow to play ST. It was an odd pick considering the Jacobs signing and the Hunter pick last year. The WR was considered a huge reach, but I'll defer to Harbaugh on that one....

Well then that would obviously make the Niners one of the teams that carries more than 3. Besides, they are a running attack kind of team that would run 50-60 times a game if they could get away with it. That's just how Harbaugh gameplans. Hell the Giants used like 5-6 backs back in 2007 and it worked out for them. With a guy like LMJ, he isn't strictly a back. You can put him in lots of different positions when you break the huddle and when you snap the ball. He's a hybrid of Sproles and Bush. Not to mention that he can also hold onto the damn ball on a kick return.
Gore will be 29 when the season starts and he's only under contract for either 2 or 3 more seasons. With his injury history, it's not a bad idea to have another back in the stable.
They're planning to play some SEC "big boy" style football, which just requires a punter and a kicker.
