You missed her point. She is saying that yes Griffin proved himself to be an elite, productive player at Baylor, but that doesn't mean he would have done the same had he come to Texas instead. Different systems, different coaches, different players, and different situations all come into play here. For instance, if the Colts had taken Leaf all those years ago and Manning wound up with the Chargers, there is no guarantee that Manning would be the GOAT and Leaf would be on the chaingang now. Same thing with Eli and Rivers. Do the Giants still win the Super Bowls without Manning? Since I'm already off topic, it has to suck for the Chargers to miss out on the GOAT and then 5 years later, miss out on his more than likely HOF brother as well.

Not to mention trading away Drew Brees.

Other teams not Texas are experiencing success? Hmmmm...must be because Texas has become lazy on the recruiting trail...

Has it occurred to you that there is a great deal of $$$ involved in college football? And that schools want to be a part of the money shower, and are therefore spending more $$$ on football?

UT consistently reels in top 5 classes, and get most guys that they want. Their evaluation and development are average at best, which is what explains the downward trajectory of late for UT, but that is not what is helping OSU, and Stanford, and Mizzou, and Baylor get better.

The most logical conclusion seems to be that other schools want in on the action, and have spent accordingly.

From 2008-2011, 21 different schools finished in the final AP Top 10.
From 2004-2007, 24 different schools finished in the final AP Top 10.

Come on man. Be real here.

In 1978-1981, 20 different schools finished in the final AP Top 10.

I am not sure if that is a metric that defines parity.

None. Scholarship limits and the growth of TV money from cable created parity. Texas screwed up for a few years, but the impact from that is not nearly broad or deep enough to significantly change the landscape of football.
