Apparently Gingrich is set to step down. Was just a matter of time I guess. Would have loved to see him go road grater in a debate with obama, but oh well.

And it looks like he's gonna be leaving in a world of hurt.

So now that there is just Romney and Paul. I wonder what would happen if some big scandal comes out about Romney. What do you think? Would the party scramble for a new candidate/ask for somebody who dropped out to come back, since we're close to the wire here. Would they default to Paul. Or would they suck it up and keep charging forward with Romney since a lot of their eggs are in one basket?
yeah, I'm a "obama-ite", but I absolutely think Obama would do fine debating that pompous douchebag. He didn't exactly dominate the debates against the GOP field.
It wasn't the debates for me, it was the fact that Newt can frame an issue and Romney can't seem to do that. And I wasn't voting for Newt b/c he's too much of a scumbag for my taste's, but you have to paint a picture and I don't know that Romney can (euro style technocrat)
The thing that I think had Rs/Conservatives wanting to see them debate, is Newt is feisty and is great at soundbites and one liners. I think honestly he held back against the other Rs because he didn't want to damage them, make the primary a $#@!fest(more than it already was) and turn it really just negative negative negative, but against obama, it would have been no holes barred.
I can guarantee this: the Romney/Obama debates will leave almost everyone, save the political extremists, wishing for an asteroid.
With the possible exception of the LA caucus (didn't pay much attention, and LA also had a primary a month ago), he hasn't won the popular vote anywhere. Caucus states often have a weird, multi-stage way of allocating delegates. There's the caucus, then often mutliple conventions (precinct, county, state, etc.). Turns out college boys are the only ones with enough time on their hands to go through all that. I'm guessing the caucus system will be radically reformed by the next contested GOP election.
Generally, everybody but the nominee bows out, and lets the nominee get all the delegates. Doubt RP will do it that way.
Nor should he. RP isn't running for president anymore; he's running to promote his "revolution," a movement which has caught on and isn't soon to dissipate. There's still a lot of talk about RP getting a prominent spot at the convention, which would be fairly smart. Rand Paul has spent a ton of time on the campaign trail cutting his teeth and there exists an entire generation of politicians whom subscribe to the revolution.
Ron's in it for the long tail.

Will vote for Ron Paul in the Texas open Primary.
Will then vote for Gary Johnson in the General Election.
Everybody else is $#@!ing insane as far as I am concerned.
If you wanna tell me that my vote is wasted while you vote for the two people exiting the same clown car---I have brochures I'd like to show you about where the insane can live a peaceful existence.
