    the way a Zombie survival game should be

    ArmAII DayZ mod
    It's a bleak, brutal game, playing like some strange hybrid of STALKER, Fallout and Left 4 Dead. There's no map until you actually find one. No prompts showing you the location of other survivors. All you hear is the wind and the birds. Because it's built on such a realistic engine, if you want to go somewhere, you have to walk. If you want to pick stuff up, you can only take what you can carry.

    If that wasn't making things hard enough, the mod's developers have added extra survival elements, like the need to eat and drink water. Two things which you'll want to do, since you take the role of a persistent player; leave a game and, if you're still alive, you'll come back in the same spot with the same gear. Die, though, and that's it. The weapons and tins of beans you worked so hard to get are gone.
    I really want something like this for xbox so I can play it more than I could on a PC... I think.

    would love for this to work with BF3.

    love the idea of a persistent world and player, even if you disconnect your player doesn't. the game would need safe houses or the ability to "protect" yourself while offline.

    Ugh. Getting accidentally TKed in BF3 is bad enough. I might blow a gasket knowing a player intentionally killed me to get my stuff.

    The Arma community is one of the best there is, the game is a military simulation for the consumer market.

    I watched a couple of videos of a guy roaming alone at night and getting robbed. dumbass wondered up to a dead zombie in the middle of a street that had a flare lit next to him. when he went to search him 2 bandits robbed him, although he dropped his rifle he tried to shoot one and ended up getting killed in the process. supposedly the bandits said they just wanted his weapons and wouldn't have killed him if he had just obeyed.

    the map the game plays on is like 300KM in scope, massive and there are videos that ppl have created to help ppl showing towns that are safer with buildings that tend to be defensible and that spawn decent gear/loot/ammo/food/water.

    also the ingame chat is distance relative, so get out of range of you friends and you can no longer communicate with them which adds to the tension. watched a group of 5 guys move through a town thinking it was safe, they killed one zombie which alerted a swarm of them. they ended up nearly out of ammo and on the run, they splintered and 3 tried to hide in a barn but were overrun. the other 2 tried to circle back, long story short they end up running for like 10 minutes and then getting split up rejoining and then 1 of them sacrificed himself so the other could escape.

    Watched a few videos last night. That game is not for me.

    I used to have nightmares as a kid of being followed by an indestructible, slow moving, floating bomb - kinda like a Terminator but slower. I'd get away, travel long distances, but it would always catch up to me.

    In this game, replace indestructible, slow moving, floating bomb with zombies that f'ing run and bite your f'ing neck. No thank you.

    it is very isolationist in its nature, the idea is survival rather than extermination. I know that Left 4 Dead is considered survival but the real idea is extermination/survival due to the abundance of weapons and linear gameplay.

    this freaking mod seems to be really based of survival. nearly all of the videos I've seen show the player almost always opting for evasion or avoidance. even when there are groups of friends that have formed a group/party they still often opted for avoidance.

    found out that the players have a form of "morality/humanity" scale so if you stay on the good side of humanity you have the normal survival outfit/look but if you become a bandit and loose your humanity your appearance will be obviously different from everyone else to help the observant avoid you.

    would love to see a hybrid like this on 360, some kind of red dead redemption/gta/Just Cause 2 "open world" massive map with a persistent player/world that was survival based. not just MMORPG but combat, scavenger and survival based.

    I'm not saying that graphics are super important or anything, but that game looks and sounds like $#@!. 1998 level graphics and sound.

    I have played realistic wargames that look like Playstation graphics (not 2 but PS1) its all about the gameplay, $#@! wasted resources.

    All of the CODs and BF are simplified arcades in a shoebox, quite literally the stuff people store the shoes they buy and take home, move forward for 5 seconds and you hit the border of a map.

    Realistic wargames have dozens of miles of simulated horizons, and as people know, the amount rendered is the distance ^2.

    It's a mod still in early beta.

    It'd be like seeing Blackops 2, 3months ago and judging the entire concept based on the early graphics.

    Yeah the player models and animations are raw and not great at all but the concept and base that they are working from is massively creative.

    I hate to pull rank but son, PLAY GOOD GAMES, not glorified pre-rendered cutscenes.

    I can understand being a graphics whores if you are being paid, but even prostitutes make more sense than the typical gamer.

    I used to play the Arma II Project Reality mod, it was kinda fun, graphics do suck in the Arma engine. Sound is good though, and the levels are so vast there are multiplayer maps which goes on for 12 hours. Mainly because half the time you'e running around looking for the 1 guy or tower you missed before you can move on to the next objective.
