    Longmire on A&E

New show this week about a Wyoming Sheriff. 1st episode was pretty good. Will keep watching. Replays tonight at 10pm if you want to catch the pilot. Normally plays on sunday nights at 8pm.

I watched it. Not too bad for a summer show. Katee Sackhoff (sp?) annoys the living $#@! out of me, but other than that very watchable.

I saw the first episode. It was just OK for me. The show has a lot of potential though, so I will watch a bit longer.

Just watched the pilot, and I thought it was ok.

The pilot is available on the A&E site, for anyone who cares.

I've seen both episodes so far. I'm kinda diggin' it.

I'm liking it also. They've introduced a couple of subplots with Longmire's daughter that seem interesting as well.

I watched both episodes yesterday and will continue to watch if it stays as well written as it has been.

Has a bit of a Justified feel to it, obviously...but mixed with something else I can't quite put my finger on.

I like it so far...it will get me thru until we get closer to Justified's new season.

I've watched the first two episodes. It's a slow burn, but I think it's solid, not spectacular. I do appreciate Robert Taylor's dry delivery and we have Ritchie Valens, Starbuck and Tess Mercer. I'll keep watching....

Interesting casting with valens. In the books, Henry is a very large man, former Cal football player and marine vietnam vet.

In case you guys weren't aware that is being filmed in the Valles Caldera of the Jemez Mountains up a piece from Los Alamos and Bandelier National Monument.

Very close to where that fire started last year.

1 - always thought that was beautiful country. Really want to explore it more, especially with a fly rod.

2 - does this mean we'll be seeing the missus as an extra, JW?

The story is set in Wyoming. Why can't they film it there? Love the books. The author lives in Ucross, WY, population 25, off the beaten path between Sheridan and Gillette in northern Wyoming. Nice country up there. Perfect for filming, in my estimation.

I could bore you with a long list of movies made in Wyoming, but I won't. Other than the New Mexico film office made a better offer, I can't think of a reason it wasn't shot in Wyoming.

Didn't you say that you were involved or were around the set of Breaking Bad? Or am just to cheery due to the consumption of adult beverages. If you did could you regale us with some stories that WOULDN'T be in the MSM.

    Yeah ^^

There are some serious studio digs in and around Albuquerque, not to mention all kinds of craft, crew, makeup artists, etc. etc, not to mention hardware and other $#@! needed to make these productions fly around here.

I think it has more to do with that than a "better offer" whatever the $#@! that means. No offense there, virginia.

And Tenn, yeah, the missus was the stand in for Skylar during season 4 of Breaking Bad.

This is a solid, worth a look. They do a real good job of mixing ongoing issues/history with the episode's investigation each week. It's funny, because I didn't start watching until I was blown away that Longmire was one of the Matrix agents.

    so pretty solid season.

some of the crime stuff was pushing a bit hard on the CSI, Law & Order stuff. they didn't do enough on Longmire's wife back story. I will give it to them that they at least didn't try and cram everything into the finale like some series do.

kept expecting Ferg to go after Branch when they had the falling out, never did though. also kept telling my wife that Vic was eventually gonna have some strange attraction to Longmire, not sure what is going with her as per the finale but could get interesting.

Worth watching? I gave up 4 episodes in....

  31. #31
I enjoyed it. It's definitely more a slow burn type of series and b/c of the setting there won't be any huge stunt or CGI tricks, but solidly acted, great landscape and I like the interaction b/w the town and the reservation......Solid series and the finale was pretty good. My favorite episode was "Dog Solider", but all were fairly interesting....
