On the evening of January 11, 1996 ... Barack Obama formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party. The issue remains as fresh as today’s headlines, as Romney argues that Obama is trying to move the United States toward European-style social democracy, which was precisely the New Party’s goal.

We can drop the topic if others stop getting apoplectic when he's called a socialist. There is no doubt this man hates capitalism. His entire life has been spent around communists/socialists and he's written about his obsession with socialism. What else does anyone expect?

BTW, the private sector is doing fine. We need more government.

it doesn't matter. most already know he rolls with communists (van jones), many avowed socialists in his admin, etc. We already know this and this makes him no more or less repulsive. the other half agree with this, and wish he would just be who he is as it aligns with their warped view of economic justice.

b. The Market nearly doubling during his term?

c. corporate profit as a percentage of the GDP at an all time high?

d. corporate tax revenues nearing historic lows as a percentage of GDP?

e. His signature piece of legislation, requiring every citizen to purchase health insurance from private/for profit healthcare insurers?

f. Obama's stimulus plan in 2009 which containing the largest tax cut in American history?

g. all of the above

Obama may be the worst socialist ever, if that is what he is trying to do. The economy is the dumps, but it is not because some non-sensical assertion like: "Obama hates capitalism."

I always use the same example because it's true- Nixon implemented Wage and Price controls. That's the high water mark for central planning out of the executive branch in this country and it's been receding since.

I'd say the alleged fact that he was in a party that was decidedly more to the left of the democrat party intimates that he isn't truthful about his philosophy of govts role in the nation. So either he's lying to his fellow New Party members or he's lying to the rest of the nation.

Either way his motives for being president come into question. His past is not a clearly developed (transparent) thing that people have been able to lay out in a generally accepted narrative.

I mean, you'd think oil companies would be the most "capitalism loving" people around, but they gladly take government subsidies and lobby for such continuously.

Capitalism = little/no government control of markets. Currently, both imaginary sides of politics work to have governmental control/influence to benefit their interests.

There certainly is a storied history of business buying government policies to lessen competition. I think in his heart, Obama is a socialist but in practice he's more pragmatic and therefore a fascist.
