By that logic why should the president give speeches to begin with? Just because he can't give a speech to every parent who lost a loved one doesn't make the speech he gave today unwarranted or unnecessary.

The speech wasn't for me or you, it was for the victims and those affected by it. There were friends and family all over the country who probably couldn't be in CT to see the speech themselves. Clearly America loves speeches because they re-elected the one guy who loves to give them. Weddings, graduations, promotions, banquets, funerals, etc. 'worthless speeches' are pretty much apart of our everyday life.
