    Started P90X this week

    And it's kicking my butt. I'll be done just in time for my 32nd birthday and a cruise to Jamaica/Grand Cayman/Cozumel.

    I started the year off at 294. Through diet and working I'm down to 255. It was time to get a real and scheduled plan and I just really like what this plan offers. I've played sports my entire life and didn't get above 235 until after UT (6'3 big build) but ballooned up to over 300. At 31 years old it was a bunch of crap, so here I am.

    I'll try and keep it updated and tell everyone how it goes.

    my wife's brother in law has used it for some time now and i definitely noticed a change. if you can follow the program you will definitely lose some weight.

    from the infomercial i've seen it looked like you already had to be in pretty damn good shape to even do the workouts.

    I mean clapping pushups? Are fat people supposed to be able to do that?

    I started Monday myself. I had to drive up to Dallas for a business meeting yesterday, and the few times I got out of the car to go piss or buy bottled water, I thought I was going to fall down.

    Are you doing the nutrition/meal plan, too? Or just the workouts?

    p90X is about getting a ripped look. CrossFit is about being in the best possible all around fitness possible. so it is hard to compare then apples to apples.

    similar concept in the muscle confusion to help you build muscle and lose fat. 90 days of following the program to a "T" will get you good and ready to start trying the crossfit WOD's at full speed.

    if one of the top CrossFit athletes stopped doing any WODs and only followed the p90X for 90 days he would lose both his metcon and his overall strength.

    also the diets are completely different. p90X (i believe) makes you follow a low fat, higher carb and protein diet. CrossFit preaches the Zone diet, which is almost equal amounts of fat/carb (non grain/starch form)/and protein

    This is true early on in the "fat shredder" phase of P90X. As you move to the second and third month, it moves to more of a Zone diet approach.

    Good luck and like Tony says, keep pushing play!

    I am on day 52 and in my last week of Phase 2. I have been at a convention this week and vacation the end of last week. I decided to hop on a treadmill to get a workout in, since I was not able to do P90x. I had not been on a treadmill in a long time and obviously none during P90x, the first time I ran I did 4.5 miles in 1 hour. This morning I did 5 miles in 1 hour. It will get you in great all around shape and it will kick the ever living $#@! out of you.

    All of that said, it is badass! I am down from 230 to 200 and from 22.5% body fat to 19% in 50 days. I don't really give a $#@! about my weight, but I want to get back to my 12-15% body fat again. I think I will be there by day 90.

    If you have any questions, let me know and I will help in any way I can. Just stay with it, the results are amazing.

    you peddle the Crossfit mantra a bit too much.

    saying P90x is 'about looks' is weak.

    there is no way a person would have an excellent round of P90X and not see significant gains in performance.

    If you are going to tell me that p90x's number 1 selling point is not about looks I am going to tell you that you are full of $#@!.

    No $#@! the average person who does p90x will see significant gains. It is a great work out program. I would recommend it to over anything I have ever seen sold on TV. Like I said, my wife's brother in law has done mybe more than one cycle of it and he looks and feels $#@!ing great.

    Somebody asked me to compare it to CrossFit. I did. Any of the top competitors at the games would have loses in almost every aspect of their fitness if they only did p90x for 90 days.

    I would suggest joining the P90x forums on beachbody.com and finding an appropriate coach to help you through the program. Josh Spencer is a pretty damn good guy to get advice & motivation from. You can also see the results he got from the program. Obviously, not everyone will have great results like Josh, but if you follow his advice closely you'll get good results.

    Duh, part of its appeal is that you see a transformation in your physique. And that should be a big selling point for a program you have to pay for. That doesn't mean it can be summarized with a sentence like "Crossfit is about performance. P90X is about looks." Any decent program will get you in shape and physically fit. Just pick one that suits you and stick to it. When you have accomplished that, feel free to experiment with different programs and mix & match at will. This "90 days of following the program to a "T" will get you good and ready to start trying the crossfit WOD's at full speed" is just another amusing sentence.

    Depends on where the individual is in his/her level of fitness.

    I am telling you..if you take guys like Jason Khalipa and Josh Everett, force them to do nothing but p90x for 90 days, they will $#@!ing regress in every aspect of their fitness...their cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, power, etc.

    Next thing you'll tell me is if you took Ray Lewis, and asked him to run 5 miles everyday only for 3 months, he would lose some of his strength and power. Great insight.

    No $#@!head. I would not.

    Strength and power are only 2 of the areas of fitness I mentioned. CrossFit hits every area of fitness. p90x does not. Does everybody need to do a program like CrossFit? No. Is p90x a kick ass program that has proven great results? Yes. Would I recommend p90x to people? Yes. Can p90x get you to the same overall fitness level as a program like CrossFit? No.

    I am not comparing a professional athlete's work out program and fitness level to that of p90x. I was asked to compare CrossFit to p90x. And I did. And I am right.

    Does anyone have any used P-90X DVDs for sell? My ex GF took the damn DVD's when she moved out last month, probably won't even use them she just doesn't want me to have them. I have the nutritional info and the rest of the stuff just not the important part...the DVD's.

    i am starting to see a trend. the crossfit guys buy into it like a religion. they sound like tom cruise championing scientology.

    there are countless of ways to get "in shape". that term alone has countless definitions depending on who you talk to. but the crossfit guys spout that crossfit is the end all be all of getting in shape. what a crock.

    so if you do crossfit, you can fun a 45 second 400, a 4 minute mile and a 2 1/2 hour marathon? you can win the tour de france and then climb mt everest in the same afternoon? you can bench 3 times your body weight and squat oprah? and you can clean and jerk the moon?

    p90x kicks your ass. you lose tons of fat and build muscle. you don't get there buy just lifting weights or shocking your muscles. you get there by incoroportating a heavy cardio workout w/ the lifting and exercises. surprise, that's the same principle as crossfit.

    yes crossfit works. no doubt about it. but to discredit p90x or any other means is silly.

    no, but a top athlete that trains in CrossFit can do most of those things better than a top athlete that would only train using the p90x videos. they have a open competition for $#@!s sake.
