If they play like they did tonight they will lose in Berkeley.
nah, they'll drop one. they always seem to, and freshmen like barkely always have bad games.
edit: but i'll probably owe bigorange money at the end of the season.
Who knows but I wouldnt bet money on it. Even when they didnt have a True FR QB They have been good for at least one loss the past few years
its week 2 of the college season
Possibly. But they aint passing us if we win every game. As long as Muschamp and Co. turn the heat on opposing offenses.
Let me rephrase, we CANNOT be passed up by the AP and the Coaches if we kick people in the head.
McKnight is the truth. But I think they lose at Cal or elswhere in the Pac 10. They've had a fluke loss every year since 2005.
worry about ourselves first. if we play like we did today, we drop at least one, maybe two.
i think barkely will improve throughout the season and they're OL and skill postions are just sick. i think the chances of them losing are about 50/50. if they win out they're in the MNC game. the chances of all 3 of texas, usc, and fl going undefeated are pretty small though.
i don't know if they WILL, but if they DO, I'm guessing there is no way we're getting into the Rose Bowl over them. as we all know, the voters love them even when we're evenly matched. OU and Okie Lite need to not lose again before we play them. and even that likely won't be enough to make our schedule look better. $#@!.
I would've said the same thing the year they lost to Oregon St. And I would have said that when they lost to Stanford.
USC is picked to go undefeated almost every year. And every year since 05, they have lose to a team they shouldn't and end up in the Rose Bowl. Do you really think a freshman QB will hold up 10 more games?
Well thte Big 10 isn't going to be in the Rose. So it's between USC, the SEC and most likely Florida, and us, if we win out. If we win out. We have to win some games against tough teams.
If our offense plays like it did today it won't really matter.
Actually, you know what might work? If we win out and USC wins out and no one goes undefeated in the SEC.
Because we beat the USC team I just saw by 14+.
Tonight was the USC loss. Playing a frosh QB in front of 105,000 hooligans, and getting a win when the game had loss written all over it.
SC only gets better from here.
I wouldn't bet money on it. Ohio State is not very good.
I tend to agree with you.
But if I've learned anything following college football, it's to expect the unexpected. This season's got a long way to go.
Very doubtful. Tressel out-coached himself tonight.
Still do not understand the passing plays right before the half. Just needed to run the clock with running plays. That FG was the difference in the gameOriginally Posted by royiv
College football is by far the most frustrating sport to follow.
buckeyes played better than I thought they would. usc has a frosh at qb, he will at some pt read the papers and think he is god. usc will lose a game or two this yr.
Muschamp could stop them, but could our offensive line deal with USC defense at the end of the season?Originally Posted by Michael Knight
Cal and Notre Dame on the road are possible losses, but this was likely their toughest game. If they do go undefeated, I imagine they will pass us up.

The FG was a big difference but the int Pryor threw early gave USC an easy TD made a huge difference.
i'm guessing they pass us up in the next coaches poll.Originally Posted by longhornmatt

Love how you quoted that out, but Tressel did this same $#@! in 05'. He's had time to learn from his mistakes.Originally Posted by RabidHorn
How many times did you notice how good Pryor was tonight? Tressel is a $#@!ing numb nuts old school Big 10 coach. He's the reason they lost.
Pryor needs to be in the zone read.
After watching USC barely beat that OSU team, you think they're going to run the table?
Barkley showed me he can complete 49% of his passes for no TD's and an INT. Unless Navy is really really good, I am convinced that both these teams are overrated.

Agree with BigOrange that it is way too early to worry about this $#@!.
And if you still must worry I'll echo the posters above and say, do you really think a true freshman-led team is going to go undefeated? Especially one that doesn't look any good?
If anything, USC did us a favor by knocking off an Ohio State team that could have very well gone undefeated. Here is their schedule:
Toledo
Illinois
@ Indiana
Wisconsin
@ Purdue
Minnesota
New Mexico State
@ Penn State
Iowa
@ Michigan
Agreed. I think tOSU going undefeated with a win last night would have been more of a foregone conclusion than USC now going undefeated. USC tends to trip up against Cal and/or Stanford.Originally Posted by HornMafia

Not really, but it would be hilarious.
USC just beat an Ohio St. team that was within a whisker of losing to Navy at home. Let's not start tripping over Pete Carroll's $#@! just because Ohio St. snatched a defeat from the jaws of victory against the men of Troy. I still maintain SC will lose 2 games. They are still trying to break in a vastly overrated prep dud at QB, as well as replacing several defensive studs.
Tap the breaks with the SC love. It's almost as predictable as aggy predicting conference championships in August. Until they figure out how to win in the state of Oregon or at home against the Harvard of the West, I will remain justifiably skeptical.
USC will drop one...
The USC team I saw last night loses at Cal and maybe loses the Pac-10 altogether. They've lost at least one game in Pac play in 6 of the 8 years Carroll has been there so odds are it happens again. Don't sleep on the Golden Bears.
University of Spoiled Children has not won a game inside Oregon state lines since their mega team with 2 heisman winners on it.
Tap the brakes.
I don't know that USC will drop a game. I think that's wishful thinking.
If Texas, Florida, USC, and Penn State go undefeated, who do you pick?
Texas still has road games against Oklahoma St, Missouri, Baylor, and A&M. Laugh if you want, but Texas could lose to any of them, much less Oklahoma.
I see a lot of people counting chickens before they hatch.
On THIS board???? no waii!!!!I see a lot of people counting chickens before they hatch
its wishful thinking to think a team that has dropped at least a game every year since 2005 (and has dropped a game the majority of years PC has been there) wont go undefeated this year with a true FR QB?I don't know that USC will drop a game. I think that's wishful thinking.
USC didnt (nor Barkley) even play that well last night. tOSU just sucked worse. Even with more talent USC has manged to blow a game or two every year for awhile. There are just too many pitfalls left for the true FR to expect they now run the table just because they beat a very overrated Ohio State team that barely could take out a freaking service academy
the mnc will be usc v. ut / fl / bama / penn st
Our solution is very easy to see..... win all the f'ing games.
Color me not that impressed with USC and actually glad they won last night to get tOSU out of the way before the craptastic B10 season commences. I REALLY thought that team would run more effectively than they did and easily defeat an tOSU team that frankly is not as good as ones they have had the past few years. I think had tOSU been able to apply any offensive pressure they would have easily won that game. If there is anything PAC 10 schools know how to do it is apply offensive pressure and there will be one if not two who shut down the run enough to make it really difficult for USC to win a game.
All that said the sentiment on the thread about us worrying about our own $#@! in terms of the MNC is correct, we may be better than we have showed so far but the show needs to start next Saturday.
I agree we should schedule a real OOC but seriously the national title winner has had 1+ losses ever since our 2005 squad so all we need to do is channel Al Davis and just win baby.Originally Posted by spankytoes
Florida won't go undefeated. Neither will USC. Penn State is more likely. If we drop one, the MNC game will be a crapshoot just like last year.
Yeah, the way we're going so far, we just need to worry about taking care of our own business and let the BCS stuff fall out the way it will. We already know that Texas has to win all of its games to get into the mnc - anything less and another team will get the nod. If we do win out and don't get to go, then we can be justifiably angry.
