U2 is pretty boring these days.
Sonic Youth got so much fucking attention on XMU this year it somewhat turned me off of them. Not that attention is bad, it is just that they were fawning over them like they were the Beatles.
I do like some of their music though.
Oh, and D^3, what is the point of saying you don't like our lists/music, calling us names, then refusing to say what kind of music you like?
POINTLESS ACT!
totally. dino jr. is kicking more ass than sy these days. i've been disappointed with sy's last 2 albums, but dino jr. is still bringing it. flaming lips, tooOriginally Posted by Mack Tripper

sy is no longer making unique music, simply "releasing" music
really digging this harlem shakes album, which i discovered due to this thread.
I'm really enjoying this CD, which I picked up after a couple of mentions on this thread.Originally Posted by j.e.s.-U.S.

I've pimped Islands - Vapours a couple of times, but it still needs to be reiterated. Great album. Also, The Clientele - Bonfires on the Heath would probably make my revised top 5 at this point. I just didn't get around to listening to it until January. Really some great stuff.
or it gets better with every listen. you choose.it wears out its welcome after time.
regarding Islands...rough gem is a terrific song. Check it out. It's from a few yrs ago
I played that record non-stop this summer and I still love it. They're pretty fucking awesome live too, can't wait for their Coachella set.Originally Posted by unpaintedhuffhines

we can probably let this thread go, right?
No, I'm still buying music, but whatever. I can search for it.
The first disk of Dark was the Night, or 'this' disk, was just painful, not the type of music I feel like listening to right now.
But the second disk has some greatness on it.
Love the lines from 'Lua' -
"I've got a flask inside my pocket. We can share it on the train...
And if you promise to stay conscious, I will try and do the same...
We might die from medication, but we sure killed all the pain...
What was normal in the evening by the morning seems insane.."
First Conor Oberst song, is all his music as good and witty, or does it insist upon itself?
"Lua" is actually a song from his I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning..., less the Gillian Welch. Conor sings the whole thing on his album. By the way, I CANNOT recommend I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning... enough. I can put that thing in and i know every word on every song. Just a great great album and definitely his writing apex.
"We are Nowhere and It's Now", "Train Under Water", and 'First Day of My Life" are fantastic.

justin bieber.......
I've probably had the Mike Snow album for about 3 months now, and I tried hard not to like it.
I liked it better the first time when it was called Passion Pit (I'm not saying that one came before the other, just saying I heard PP first, and that you can not deny the epic-ness of Sleepyhead, Moth's Wings, and the Seaweed Song.)
But...you cannot deny some of the song craft on Mike Snow, especially the first four songs.
Thumbs up.
Wow. I'm really late to the Blakroc party. I remember hearing mention of it last year on these boards.
I love quality hip-hop.
After focusing on this album today I think "Ain't Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)" and "Tellin' Me Things" are two of my favorite Hip Hop songs.
But the album's track ordering is a little funky. Almost all the good stuff is on the back end with some questionably weak material on the front end.
Also, some of the Black Keys production seem to be more in tune with their experimentalisms found in Magic Potion and Attack and release. This make for good music to rap over, but those albums were subpar.
The Blakroc blog videos are actually cooler than the album.
anyone go back and check out that port obrien album? its pretty salty. i think a lot of you would like it. also realized how little respect the heartless bastards got on the list from 2009. the mountain was a jam.
would like ot say, had i made my top 10 list back in october, Miike Snow would have made the cut. but i have to agree with a previous poster. it did wear itself out.
still good, just not a great deal of staying power...
meh. i revisted today and changed my opinion on miike snow. still a really solid album. its not wolf parade, but hey who is? right?
Bump for Nostalgia and to see if anyone was on the 2009 self-eponymous Real Estate album. I like it. I like it a lot.

Good bump. Just to add my two cents, Miike Snow still hasn't worn itself out. Road tripping today and will almost certainly listen to it.
I'd be surprised if anyone did. It's a drowsy, lo-fi summer surf-rock debut album that was released in mid-November that year. Those don't do well on lists. When I first heard it (and the "Reality" EP) late least year, it took me nearly a month to dig it. The production and sound was less cleaner and glistening than "Days." I wouldn't have mind if they stuck with that, but obviously love what happened in "Days" (my #1 this year).
