Fucking pisses me off when an ump just assumes a call cause the ball beat the runner!!
Fucking pisses me off when an ump just assumes a call cause the ball beat the runner!!
shitty horrible call but it dont make a shit
And that call costs us a run!
That is piss-poor defense!
It is never a bad thing to sweep a series, but it almost feels hollow against this team... Kind of like picking on our non-conf football opponents.
Oh yeah, I blocked that one out!
There is such a thing as a broken record, & then there is Brandon McCarthy...
Triple-A pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who had just returned from the disabled list last week, is back on it with inflammation in his right shoulder.
He received a cortisone injection Thursday and will be placed on the seven-day disabled list.
McCarthy was placed on the DL the first time on April 24 with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade. He made his first appearance after coming back on June 3, pitching a scoreless inning of relief and picking up the win. He also pitched a scoreless inning on Saturday against Omaha.
In six games this season with four starts for Oklahoma City, McCarthy is 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings.
are the rangers still a 1/2 game out of the lead
1.5 up over LAA, 2 up over Oak...
So it turns out that building your team with 2 ace pitchers and then a shitload of guys that should be in AAA isn't really a very good strategy.
I would take Felix, Lee, Fister over CJ, Colby and Tommy/whoever. Perhaps that's a big "no shit". But I wouldn't trade our bullpen and laugh at the thought of swapping offenses. Mariners clealy overestimated the impact of Griffey and Bradley
Their dumbass fault for bringing Griffey back this year! His teammates carried him off the field on their shoulders last season, & they should have left it at that. He was a pathetic .214/.324/.411 last year, so no real reason to expect him to be any better a year older. Yeah, he was a good clubhouse guy, blah-blah, but the key word in "designated hitter" isn't designated...
As for Bradley, it's funny as shit that Silva is 8-0/2.93 so far!
And Casey Kotchman has no business being a starting ML 1B, which they obviously learned the hard way.
Nice offensive output the last 2 days.
kicking the shit out of the Mariners never gets old
The M's are just terrible.
Jules Borbon decided to hit the baseball this year. That's a pretty good thing. Hamilton once again is having a really nice season after starting out all over the place. Kinsler fucking sucks and we should have traded him back when there was value. Smoak is turning out to not be like Chris Davis which is nice. We own King Felix at the Ballpark.
Winning 3 of 4 against the M's is great but I want to see what we do on the road vs decent teams not the chi sox. Beat some good teams and I'll start to get excited.
i love interleague play (especially when the astros suck). i'm excited for the next few weeks. with harden tonight (3-2; 5.34) up against some douche bag named chris harveson (4-3; 5.83), there's no telling what will happen.
harden has a .147 BA with 1 double in 75 career at bats.
so far this season, harden is 2-1 with 2 quality starts in road games with a 6.67 era and a 1.685 whip...
i've got my fingers crossed for this guy to turn it around. i think JD does too.
Ok boys....what do we do with Chris Davis. He is hitting over .330 in AAA but I am pretty happy with our future at 1B with Smoak. Does he have any value come July????
He's still not walking any at all, though, which is a problem. .015 spread between his AVG and OBP is laughable. Three walks on the season. Three! That's in >170 plate appearances. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but if this continues, dude's going to have to hit .340 consistently to be a decent player.
Something I was thinking about yesterday, I wonder if it might be in our best interest to see if Davis could play corner OF? Not that we need him this year, but obviously Vlad is a very short-term solution, and Hamilton and Cruz are both about to be on the wrong side of 30 and have injury histories. If Davis' bat ever gets over the hump in the majors, could he be a long-term solution in the OF for us?
Right now at 1b we have the same issue we did at catcher a few years back. We had Laird, Salty, Taylor and Max all who had significant value. I think it's safe to say we fucked that situation up even though some of it was out of JD's control. That said, we have Davis, Smoak, Moreland and Chad Tracy at 1B. We need to decide what to do with 2 of them and trade the others. Could Davis be a LF/3B? Maybe LF for us and 3B for someone else. One way or another, we need to get something for these guys when they have value.
Not sure if it has been established, but I hate Borbon because he can't walk. I've given up on him as a long-term solution at leadoff due to the overwhelming awesomeness of Elvis Andrus and the fact he thinks 2-0 counts suck.
Anyone else like the fact Scheppers has been moved to starter? JD and the boys are doing everything they can to mitigate Scooter and Hardens' overall suckiness. Scheppers and his past arm problems make me nervous as a starter.
BTW, Laird is hitting .156/.243/.221!
Davis would most likely play RF over LF.
And I completely agree about Borbon!! Give me more Gentry...
I know it's been a dreary day, but...
RANGERS
Elvis Andrus, SS
Michael Young, 3B
Ian Kinsler, 2B
Vlad Guerrero, RF
Josh Hamilton, LF
Justin Smoak, 1B
Matt Treanor, C
Julio Borbon, CF
Rich Harden, P
None of the Rangers has faced Milwaukee starter Chris Narveson. Opposing right-handed hitters are batting .329 with a .559 slugging percentage against Narveson, a lefthander.
MILWAUKEE
Rickie Weeks, 2B
Corey Hart, RF
Prince Fielder, 1B
Ryan Braun, LF
Casey McGehee, 3B
Carlos Gomez, CF
Jonathan Lucroy, C
Alcides Escobar, SS
Chris Narveson, P
Harden has done well in the past against Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun, Milwaukee's main power hitters. Fielder is 1-for-9 lifetime against Harden, and Braun is 3-for-13.
A soft-throwing, no-name lefty? We're doomed.
I didn't know that Scheppers had been moved to starter, but I'm both surprised and pleased if it's true. My philosophy is that top pitching talent should always be given every chance to succeed as a starter before being turned over to relief. I'm sincerely hoping that Neftali's success as a closer so far doesn't convince anyone important that he shouldn't still get a chance to start in the majors.
And another CS by Borbon cost us a run earlier... For a fast guy, he sure fucking sucks at getting jumps!
Is Rich Harden scheduled to pitch the HR Derby on July 12?
Even the brewers audio admitted they missed the tag on Smoak
I've fucking had it with Harden. I'm going to DVR his starts from now on and skip through all defensive half-innings. It's fucking infuriating. He is a fastball pitcher who has lost his stuff. What good is that? You're not going to blow many major league batters away with 89 mph fastball with no english. Add to that that he has no control. I'm positive that he should be the first to go when Holland is back. I don't even want him in the bullpen.
Unfortunately it's going to be awhile with Holland... Scheppers may be our best bet.
Interesting (Newberg):
According to a Twitter post by ESPN’s Enrique Rojas, the Rangers have right-handed reliever Alexi Ogando on a flight to join the team in Milwaukee. So as not to jinx things, I’m not going to speculate as to what the corresponding roster move might be.
I’ll let you know when there’s official word.
Evan Grant:
It is the way of the world now that news breaks on Twitter first. And ESPN Deportes' Enrique Rojas is reporting that Alexi Ogando has been summoned to Milwaukee to join the Rangers. Rangers officials have not confirmed that they will activate Ogando, but are not denying the report. Ogando, 26, was one of the two Dominican pitchers banned from entering the U.S. for five years due to a visa fraud scandal. Since being allowed into the country this year, he has composite 2.05 ERA at Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Oklahoma City with 42 strikeouts in 30 innings. Opponents are hitting .130 against him. And he has allowed just 11 walks.
If there is an injury in the bullpen, Ogando, who is on the 40-man roster, would be an easy callup, but nobody left yesterday's game early. Both Chris Ray and Darren O'Day were efficient in an inning of work.
The more likely scenario might be moving struggling RHP Rich Harden to the DL. Because of an off day on Monday, the Rangers could skip his spot until a week from today and then maybe fill it with a spot start by Dustin Nippert or Matt Harrison. Then they wouldn't need that spot again until June 26th. Harden allowed a career high four home runs to Milwaukee last night and has seen his ERA rise after each of his last four starts. It now sits at 5.68.
harrison back to the rotation and this guy to the pen? 30 innings tells me he's not been used as a long man on the farm, but stretching him to 3 IP in relief shouldn't be a huge deal and we've got nippert to eat innings in laughers.
btw rich showed some wheels in his at bats yesterday. maybe he can be a pinch runner...
Ron has mentioned that Harden is an option at PR. He may have more utility here than at SP.
This is funny:
Alexi Ogando is joining the Rangers tonight in Milwaukee.
No word yet on the roster move.
Asked why Ogando was coming to Milwaukee, one club official said, "He likes beer."
Speculation is Ogando will replace Rich Harden on the roster. Ogando will go to the bullpen, Matt Harrison will go to the rotation and Harden, who threw six innings on Friday night, will go on the disabled list.
Nothing has been said about him being hurt.
Harden can not be put on the disabled list without his permission.
Left gluteal muscle strain, hah! Newberg:
I promise objectivity with this report.
In 2003, one was on the fast track for Oakland, starting the season pitching in AA and moving quickly up to AAA before getting to the big leagues in the middle of the season. The other was A’s property as well, a tools monster who flashed brilliance on the field but in whom Oakland didn’t really know what they had. He was an outfielder known as Argenis Benitez.
Today, they’re together again but now in Texas, and the roles have reversed. The latter is no longer an outfielder but instead a pitcher, no longer Argenis Benitez but instead Alexi Ogando, and he’s the AA-to-AAA-to-Arlington fast-tracker, while Rich Harden, a rookie phenom in 2003, is someone that, despite all his obvious tools and occasional glimpses that they’re still in there somewhere, is a complete mystery, at best.
Alexi Ogando has been recalled and will join the Rangers bullpen, after an odyssey to the big leagues like few others, and Rich Harden has been removed from the rotation (with no announced replacement yet) and parked on the disabled list, victim of a left gluteal muscle strain.
My pledge of objectivity prohibits me from the obvious follow-up line.
ha, pain in the ass.
i approve of this situation.
Lineup:
Andrus, SS
Young, 3B
Kinsler, 2B
Hamilton, LF
Smoak, 1B
Murphy, RF
Treanor, C
Gentry, CF
Feldman, P
At least he's playing Gentry in CF instead of LF tonight!!
Murphy makes another good running catch in right. Ham hits the ball hard imo.
Yeah, Ham crushed that HR!
Feldman with the rare strong start this season...
^^^ But he still hits 3-hole!
