Happy 2nd Birthday to Lilly.
Happy 2nd Birthday to Lilly.
OMG Lily. You are frickin adorable.
Sammy, my 9 year-old $#@!er spaniel. He's obsessed with the ball and is a huge cuddle bug. Sweetest dog on the planet, although not very bright....
And my favorite pic of the moment: Sammy laying on the bed while I get dressed in the morning:
Got my own Winston here too -
Jackpei (Jack Russel and SharPei)
Here's Gus' best friend, Jack. He's a Rat Terrier mix:
There are some damn fine looking dogs on this thread.
Kingston, the rasta Boxer. Need some new pics, think I've posted these on a similar thread, but oh well!
Posted some pics of him earlier, but this is Harper in the Bluebonnets this last weekend.
This is Black Beauty (My daughter just finished reading the book and she got to pick the name) just brought her home on Thursday. My daughter is completely in love with the pup.
There are many awesome dogs here. But I am sad to say, my dog is not awesome.
Shep was a stray who decided to adopt me. I called the pound but changed my mind at the last minute. Actually my dad did and I relented. We wanted a dog and he seemed ok. After ten years he still kind of acts like a stray. He lives outside far from other houses so that certainly affects things in a major way. But ... He rarely comes when called. He thinks accompanying me on a walk is to be within a few hundred yards or in the same 20 acre field. He circles his food from about twenty feet before approaching it from a "safe" direction. He sniffs it for a while too and looks me over; it might be poison. He has no sense of which people and animals belong and which don't. He never acts tough to other dogs but is fearless. I have a sense he gets in fights but has never been injured in one. Before he was neutered he would roam as far as five miles away, maybe farther. Now it's probably one or two. He still barks at my dad's car. (My dad lives here.) After ten years you'd think he'd learn the car belonged here. (He quits barking when it's within a couple hundred feet so maybe he just has poor recognition skills.) Many dogs have lived on our farm. This is the only one that has acted like a stray.
This is Scooter. He is a large white dog.
He is such an awesome dog...instinctively knows to keep the damn coyotes away, even though we dont have goats anymore.
My mutt prevented my buddy's baby nephew from crawling into the street the other day. We hear the dog barking her face off and we go out side to see her standing in front of the open gate blocking the toddler from wandering out into the street. The ditzy mother was on her cell phone. My dog wouldnt leave the babies side the rest of the visit, and was constantly corralling it back to the front porch.
Brian the Beagle. The hat lasted all of 5 seconds.
Dog reality is very different than ours and we probably have no idea what they are really thinking when they do weird $#@!.
If you want them to come when called, sit, walk with you, etc... this has to be taught and can be achieved with training.
He actually sounds like a pretty cool dog.

Truman looks awesome.
another of Bailey:
We don't know for sure what she is, besides strong and fast, but I've always assumed a boxer/pit mix at the very least.
I happened upon her in the middle of the street after some $#@! hit her with his car and broke her leg. He was just going to let her sit there and get hit again. If any of you Shaggy guys are that guy, I want to fight you. (I think that's how it goes.)
There's a crazy old guy that has 5 dogs and wanders around the greenbelt every day. I try to get pics if they are close.
I was looking through my sent-mail for an email I had sent about this time last year, and found this picture of the puppy we had just brought home... 3 months and 30 pounds:
And here he is today next to the same bag, one year and an additional 100 pounds later...
^^^Holy $#@! what is that? He awesome.
Beau, I feel it's only fair to tell you that I'm thinking of stealing your dog.
that dog looks like a kirby salesman's wet dream.
