Yes, I have no doubt that my friends and family like my dog more than they do me. It's painfully obvious actually. When I take her to dog freindly bars people will hang out with Amber and not me. What ya gonna do?

those with labs/goldens...did you get a rescue dog or breeder?

anyone with experience with a breeder in north texas?

why the $#@! would anyone go to a breeder to get a lab or golden? Perfectly great rescues abound.

Depends on the purpose for wanting the dog.


* If a person wants a pet, I agree with you 100%.

* If a person wants to run hunt tests or field trials (something I did for 20+ years), then you'd be wasting your time & money if you don't go to a reputable breeder.

Yeah, he's only 11 months old, so he hasn't been through a summer with his full coat yet.

His breeders are this really old couple in SA that have 6 full-grown Newfies in their house. That was a real sight.

Nice lookin Newfie, wouldnt mind havin one, along with a brindle mastiff, and/or a brindle great dane.

Clyde, our St Bernard is an inside outside dog. The last couple of years we had his coat clipped in May.

I don't have any dogs, but many of my friends do. When I go over to their house and knock on their door, or ring the doorbell, their dogs go nuts. Barking, running, jumping, slobbering. Just flat out ape$#@!. They literally jump all over me with their paws, snapping/biting, slobbering the whole time. The dog owners seem to think this is no big deal, but it's really, really annoying. Dry cleaning is expensive, and I don't want to ruin my clothes.

Since there are obviously lots of dog lovers/owners in this thread, is this acceptable behavior? If so, why?

i go cesar milan on those $#@!ers the second i walk in the door. engage them around the neck and pet/pressure them right to the floor. get them to roll over on their back and you are golden. now you have a buddy who will be more respectful of you.

MIA for the win. Driver is "One-Eyed Betty" and passenger is "Hopsing". Hounds and the car belong to a friend of mine. She says that she can blow a fan in Betty's face and he thinks the car is moving. Apparently, he can't see out of the good eye either.

This is Nicky! He's 15 years old, deaf, and I think starting to go blind, but he is a sweetheart still. He loves to run around and give kisses. I grew up with him and he's basically the brother I never had (I'm an only child woo). He stays with my dad since dad's retired and can take care of him better than me. I know my heart will break when he finally goes on to doggy heaven :(

rescued it after it got hit by a car 3-4 weeks ago. Don't have a place for it though so I'm trying to find someone to adopt him.
