As a serious answer, sprint signal has always been great in austin
I've has my eve since release and I have never dropped a call. Granted, I don't use the phone much.
Angry Birds - Seasons was released today, available from the appmarket. Kiss productivity goodbye.
Be careful to only download the official Rovio apps! There seems to be some "like-named" apps that are not... Official.
But downloading the 25 days of Angry Birds now! :)
my Evo has stopped charging....it must be in the phone, because none of my chargers (3) work......anything I should know before I take it in to see what they have to say about it.
- no trama (drop, water, etc) to the device.
- when I plug in the charger it is no longer properly seated to the device (thinking the internal socket is broken/misaligned)
how should this be approached with the Sprint folks???
Ho. Lee. Carp!
Go get Angry Birds Seasons!
You get the previous Halloween release (more fun), but the Christmas version is like an Advent Calendar - one level per day is made available.
what's a good app for webcamming using the phone? skype doesn't work over anything besides wifi, apparently, and fring doesn't let you connect with skype contacts, I believe
Qik, although it looks like from the comments that the last update had caused out to force close on some people.

I think Tango is phone to phone but its not android specific. For phone to computer I just use yahoo messenger, it has video chat enabled as well now.
For those of you not using LauncherPro I would suggest it. Makes everything more seamless, and you can install beautiful widgets to install widgets on the homescreen.
They are both great and each is worth trying out to see which you prefer.

For a cheap work around to the battery problems, you can buy two batteries and an external charger for 10 bucks on ebay. If you are going to be out all day like tailgating or something the batteries are small and just pop a new one in.
The Swype beta opened up again yesterday. I got the email that I'm now included, so if you want swype "legally" you might go to the website and see if you can get in the new beta
EVO 4G gets new firmware update: lots of app refreshes
(emphasis in the quote is mine)
They all look awesome, but an OFFICIAL SWYPE!!!No, for goodness' sake, it's not Gingerbread! Okay, now that we've gotten past that, Sprint just cut loose a new EVO 4G update that bundles updated versions of Telenav, visual voicemail, Sprint Zone, and Sprint TV, along with a sprinkling of crapware in the form of a new game trial. You've also got Blockbuster and Kindle apps on board, a new Scan Now widget that seems to assist with locating a 4G signal, and -- this is pretty awesome -- the addition of Swype, which means you'll no longer need to install the off-ROM Swype beta. Want the goods? Check in your phone's settings -- if it's not there now, you should see it shortly.
I just checked... I don't have the firmware update YET... but soon... I will have my precious soon... /gollum
I don't see any update with the Sprint updater, is there a manual version?
i have a question. i'm looking for a new phone mainly for work. Why does the blackberry bold cost the same with sprint as this bad ass Evo 4G phone? Anything special about the bberry? Does it give handjobs or something?
Probably been discussed somewhere on this thread but is there no way to avoid the extra $10 a month fee for this phone with Sprint?
Also, I heard these were on sale at Radio Shack for $149 through Dec. 18 fyi.
The Otter box seems to be the best of both, and I think that the covers for the connection points is a big plus
OH!! Important for EVO Swype (beta) users... BEFORE (!!!) you do the update, uninstall and delete the Swype .apk from your phone!
I've heard that you save lots of time "fixing things" if you do this BEFORE (!!!) you install the update (which I haven't seen yet either).
A co-worker installed the update that he found in the wild. Bricked his phone. No idea if he was running swype or not.
Oops, not yet on Sprint.

Downloading the update now from Austin!
OH... and heads up (as my phone installs and reboots)... this is NOT a firmware update, but an HTC Software Update!! I kept checking the firmware update, but saw in a forum where the HTC Software Update button is what you wanted (and voila!).
Successful update... piece of pie, easy as cake.
Thoughts on the update (so far):
* Swype (yes!): Glad to have an official version! Yay for Sprint, HTC, or whoever for making it "legal" for us to have this!
* Android Market: It's the new version... looks pretty slick.
* Definitely go to the Market and look for updates... there were a number of them.
* New apps: Blockbuster (haven't tried, still waiting for the Netflix Android app to appear), Kindle (might have to try that now!)
* SprintTV: some updated content
Swype is the mfing truth.
For people who don't have it, Swiftkey is badass as well and you can actually download it in the market. Completely different than Swype, though.
Installing it now. Download took less than 2 minutes over 4G.
