Phuq me. At what age to kids grow out of this perverse desire to have their birthday dinner at places like Chili's? 15 seems a little old.

I used to work at Chili's. Pretty miserable experience. The movie "Waiting" wasn't terribly inaccurate.

When my son "graduated" from kindergarten/daycare, I told him I would take him anywhere he chose to celebrate, thinking he'd pick someplace like Chucky Cheese or Mickey-D's. Where does the kind pick? The restaurant at the top of the Tower of the Americas. He was five years old, and had never been there before. I thought, "fine, we'll spin around while he eats his hamburger from the kid's menu". The Chili's Trip was a somewhat legendary chili cheeseburger. Sadly, they have lost the plot.
When I was a kid we used to go to the orginal Chili's in Dallas, and then #2 over on restaurant row. Good eatin's back in the day.
ever been to a Chili's Too? That is the airport version and damn, Chilis should shut all those mofos down. The chicken samwich aint bad but the fries suck and I am convinced they are trying to give me a heart attack with the loads of salt on them fries.

My wife worked part time @ the 183/I-35 Chili's when she was in grad school @ UT (long before I knew her). She absolutely refuses to ever eat @ a Chili's again. I can understand that as I'm pretty much the same way about Bill Miller BBQ after working there in high school.
Showbiz Pizza was the shit. They served beer in pitchers. I'd have my birthday there now. I know some Chucky Cheeses serve beer as well, though apparently you are limited to 2 drinks.
If they have a limit, they don't enforce it, because I had about 5 cups of some crappy beer at the North MoPac Chuck E Cheese last time I was there. It somewhat numbed the pain.

Chili's Too is my go-to at airports. Boneless buffalo wings with ranch instead of bleu cheese and a 22oz beer. Maybe two. I went to one at DFW so often that, after flying Southwest for a couple of months because of a different client, my wife and I went through there and the bartender welcomed me back and asked how our new baby was. For some reason, my wife didn't think it was as funny as I did that I went to a bar often enough that the bartender would recognize me after several months and remember personal details about my life.
Also, I miss Bennigan's.
Never, ever carded high schoolers, at least the one that used to be at I10 and the Beltway.

buddy of mine and i took our daughters to schlitterbahn last monday and stopped off at chili's for dinner on the way out of nb. skillet queso ftw. i had some pinapple and mandarin orange salad w/ grilled shrimp and it was damn tasty. my daughter's cheese pizza looked like it sucked.

Where the hell are you? They have like 3 within a 5 mile radius of where I stay. Seems to me they are building them up like McDonalds these days.

Chili's chips and salsa are vastly underrated.
I've had Chili's 4 times in the last 7 days. I was at a convention for work and would take people to lunch. Being that it had to be fast we were limited on choices. And of course, I let them choose. Chili's seems to be a big deal for the typical band/orchestra director. Got home Sat night, GF suggested we go to Chili's for Supper (It's the closest restaurant to our house). I'm not sure what kind of evil look crossed my face, but we switched to Cafe Brazil.
The last time I remember being in a Chili's is 2002 or so.

At some point you have to take them to Hooters for their b-day. This seems like the right age. Better wings there than at Chilis.
Chili's fajitas are damn good and actually mesquite grilled as are the steaks.
