for the record, weather underground's wundermap is fucking awesome.
Thunder is really starting pick up. This should be fun.
it ain't fun for my big dumb lab-shepherd mix.
i can only wish my lab mix was still with us to cry over the weather
Holy shit, yeah. I live my weather tracking life by that. There's a weather station really close to me that I follow all the time. I think you're not that far from me. http://www.rdking.com/
6.5 inches today.
Fuck me. Hyde Park lost power for a little bit but still no cable service here at my apartment. Thank god someone has internet that they left unsecured so I could slowly connect with the world again. It was fucking nasty when I got off the bus around 7:15.
for the record, storms bring out the drinker in me.
Motherfucker. We officially have water coming into our brand new utility room, which used to be part of the garage. Fortunately the floor's all old concrete and the washer/dryer are on the opposite wall, but it's just seeping and seeping. I'm worried about the rest of the house. Our screened patio is covered in about an inch of water now, the backyard is a full up complete lake, and the front yard is getting there. The only one of these pathetic drainage issues disclosed to us was the seepage in the garage, which we were not told was at the part close to the house and was described as "very slight" and "only in torrential downpours." But I guess this counts as a torrential downpour.
Any idea how many more inches/hours of water we'll get? I'm not going to get any sleep tonight worrying about my newly remodeled kitchen :(
(I'm on Shoal Creek near 2222, the non-creek side, and we were officially told we were not in a flood plain. just for the record).
not in a flood plain means you get the cheapest rates on flood insurance.
nothing mentioned in your home inspection about drainage issues?
seems areas around I35 are getting a lot of shit. we had some heavy stuff off and on the the HS had a "this is not a drill" tornado drill today which is news to me I work at a Learning center down the road and we didn't have a clue. Not a lot of thunder and lightening but tomorrow is another day but I think it's going to die out in our area.
This is when having direct tv sucks.
i can hear the shingles begging for mercy. its getting real out there folks. hide your peoples!
this rain can go the fuck away.
apparently Pac Man Jones is staying the night in Austin
I'm between two stations on that wundermap. 6.5 inches to the north and 7.91 inches to the south. We're getting drenched. Lake in the backyard.
Turn around, don't drown. The life you save may be your own.
goddammit. start lifting stuff up now. anything. stupid shit like couches on beds - stuff like that. i already told you on lamebook, but get electronic shit off the ground, unplug shit, etc.
i was just in that kitchen three fucking days ago. please stop raining for at least a couple of hours to let that water drain off. come on weather gods.
looking at weather underground, this band just keeps motherfucking coming up the 35 corridor. it's not going to stop in austin anytime soon unless this storm breaks up. it was headed NNE, but now it seems to have turned to the NNW, which is bad for teagarden. break up, motherfucker. break up.
I don't see this breaking up soon. I think people are gonna be astonished when they get up in the morning.
well, it is weakening right here locally. but there is a whip band of red coming right up from san antonio that looks ugly.
i've never taken a tropical storm direct hit here in austin in all my 14 years here. i've weathered a taifun in nagoya, but i didn't have to worry about a car there. or flooding, as my neighborhood was well drained and high.
meausured 5.5" in my caveman bucket rain gauge at 4pm here in SA. looks like we'll get another inch or so.
fuck this storm. it knocked over all my tomato plants. it can eat a bag
Another hug purple cell heading into Austin from SA. Mother fucker.
Must be our proximity to the RRS. ou's sucking is monumental this year.

Dog area in my apartment complex in NW Austin is under 3+ inches of water now, grass looks like a small pond. Insane... This shit won't stop.
9" in North Austin, news is saying this is on the verge of rivaling the '81 Memorial day floods.
Austin has swift-water rescue out all over town. Name a creek and it's raging at a dangerous levels and sure not to stop any time soon.
People are driving around barricades... for fuck sake. One woman was rescued at 2222 and 360, they're looking for another person who drove around another barricade.
This really sucks. About two inches away from it coming in my front door. Anderson Mill 183 area here.
Buncha dumbasses around here. You couldn't pay me enough to go for a drive right now.
Unreal. It doesn't look like it is going to let up anytime soon. fuck my life.
We have several inches of water in our house right now. We're gonna need a carpet/floor cleaning company when this is all over - if anyone has any contacts that would put us in the front of the queue, let us know. We are in the 360/2222 area.
no, but you and everyone else that will be needing cleaning done, you should call steam-express and tell them that they cannot have your business because of the thread on this forum.
water in my garage but luckily nothing more than that now. my gage is now over 9 inches and i'm in the middle of a red band. Didn't realize how much water would stand around my house.
tuba, go to your store and hide the carpet cleaners and only let shag members rent them tomorrow.
Damn it's getting rough out there. Guess I'm lucky for once to have a 3rd floor apartment.
Same, bo.
We're on the second (technically 1.5, since the first floor goes down half a flight and we go up half from ground level), right on the banks of the San Gabriel River in Georgetown. Shit is unreal.
