I'm in a league that has a offensive flex position which includes QB's....is it better to start two QB's vs the traditional extra RB or WR? Its a QB, 2 RB, 2WR, TE, K, DEF league

    settings are as follows

Passing Every 25 passing yards (PY25) 1 Each Pass Completed (PC) 0.2
Each Incomplete Pass (INC) -0.3 TD Pass (PTD) 3

Rushing Every 10 rushing yards (RY10) 1 TD Rush (RTD) 6
    2pt Rushing Conversion (2PR) 2 100-199 yard rushing game (RY100) 2
    200+ yard rushing game (RY200) 5

Receiving Every 10 receiving yards (REY10) 1 Each reception (REC) 0.5
    TD Reception (RETD) 6 2pt Receiving Conversion (2PRE) 2
    100-199 yard receiving game (REY100) 2 200+ yard receiving game (REY200) 5

Miscellaneous Total Fumbles Lost (FUML) -2

Kicking Each PAT Made (PAT) 1 Total FG Missed (FGM) -1
    FG Made (0-39 yards) (FG0) 3 FG Made (40-49 yards) (FG40) 4
    FG Made (50+ yards) (FG50) 5

Team Defense / Special Teams Each Sack (SK) 0.5 Interception Return TD (INTTD) 6
Fumble Return TD (FRTD) 6 Kickoff Return TD (KRTD) 6
Punt Return TD (PRTD) 6 Blocked Punt or FG return for TD (BLKKRTD) 6
Blocked Punt, PAT or FG (BLKK) 2 Each Interception (INT) 2

I would say no, unless you have an incredible back up QB. A wr can catch 8 balls for 90 yards and a TD and get: 4 + 9 + 6 = 19pts. A RB would be pretty similar 120 yards and a TD = 18pts.

For a QB to get 19 points in your league he'd need around 200 yards and 3 or 4 TDs. You're probably not going to get that out of a backup QB unless you have a high caliber back up. I would believe that you'd be more likely to hit numbers like that from a WR or RB than a backup QB.

Well say I have 10 th and 15th pick. I could probably get two of the three, Brees, Manning, or A Rodgers...thinking about taking two of those three.

Pro's: Stick someone with shitty QB so that gives you some advantage in that. In other words, you match up Manning v. a second tier starter (like say Cutler or Favre)
Con's: You will likely put up less points at the Flex position

IMHO, I think you are best getting two WR's in the 10 and 15th pick position or a QB and a WR as usually the elite RB's are knocked out by then. Say you get A. Johnson and Manning with your first two picks ....

The other reason to not do it is it provides better flexibility for you later in the draft. If you go QB, QB to open, you are going to be very thin at RB/WR. Plus if a Rivers were to fall to the fourth round or a Flacco in the fourth, you could then institute your QB/QB strategy and still be good and you will also have some good WR's or RB's to go with it.

I also like several younger QB's to have very good years (ATL, BAL, DET).

That being said it would be fun as hell to see someone go QB, QB to open. You might make other team's panic in response to put a quasi run on QB's leaving you with plenty of quality to choose from in Rd 3 and 4. However, I don't know that there would be that much of a run so IMHO, I wouldn't do it.

If you can pull two of those 3 then I would be more accepting of that. Although if you take 2 QBs like that you're going to be hurting for RBs when it comes back around to your pick in the 3rd round.

well there was a run on qb's after chris johnson and adrian peterson.....brees, rodgers, manning, brady were next....followed by ray rice at 7, and andre johnson at 8..guy in front of me took MJD so I was in no mans land...i am not a steven jackson fan so I took Randy Moss.....on the way back around I ended up with Frank Gore as everyone was passing him over .....went for dallas clark in round 3 as the stud WR, RB and QBs were gone....on the back side of 4 and 5 picked up greg jennings...qbs ended up with eli and mcnabb...also grabbed the #1 d in my league with the eagles....so my staring lineup is

    QB 1 Eli
    RB Gore and ahmad bradshaw
    WR Moss and Jennings
    TE Clark
    Eagles
    vinateri

    bench players
    portis
    fred jackson
    jacoby jones
    louis murphy
    hassleback
    santonio holmes
    fred taylor

all in all think I did ok but ended up with a lot of playes I usually try to avoid

I really like your depth (not huge on Jacoby, but the rest of your bench is solid), but am not a huge Bradshaw fan. I think he will end up splitting a ton with Jacobs. You can probably ship out Portis now with Eli for a small upgrade for someone thin at RB and then when Holmes comes back ship one of your elite WR's out for an elite RB to pair with Gore. IMHO.

Sir...I completely disagree. I think Jones is going to be huge this year. It's only a matter of time before he takes #2 from Walter, and he's returning kicks/punts (assuming your league gives points for those and doesn't just lump them in with D/ST). Bradshaw is going to be the guy in New York, and they're looking to run the ball more. Everything I've read said that Bradshaw will be the #1 RB and while Jacobs will get some looks Bradshaw is supposed to get the bulk. Which leads me to my only real complaint with your roster...your QBs. Eli was huge last year but the Giants don't want to pass as much this year so his numbers will go down. Hasselbeck is awesome, as a person...but Seattle kind of sucks (I live here) and who knows WTF Pete Carroll is doing. He may end up cutting Hasselbeck before the season starts (I kid, I hope.)

Overall though you've got some great bench players and as long as Eli isn't TOOOO bad I think you got a pretty good team.

louis murphy, matt hasselback and fred jackson do not make a good bench. murphy has upside, but we'll have to see how jason campbell fits in oakland.

i''d say jacoby, portis and holmes are the highlights on that bench. with fred taylor being a bit of a wild card.

You don't like Fred Jackson? He's the best offensive player on that team. Lynch is all but dead to Buffalo coaches. Jackson will get a bulk of the carries there. Granted that whole team sucks, so I dunno if he'll do much but they weren't good last year and he still got 1000 yards.

CJ Spiller is the starter now.

Spiller won't be the every down back. He was the "starter" cuz both Jackson & Lynch were injured in the pre-season. Now that Jackson is back to 100% I don't see how he doesn't start. He's far more durable than Spiller.

That's not what Chan Gailey said. He said that Spiller would have been the starter regardless of Lynch and Jackson's injuries, but I hope you're right because I have Jackson on a couple of teams and could use the depth. I imagine both will get carries which hurts both of their values.

Jackson, recovering from a broken bone in his left hand, continues to practice and coach Chan Gailey is confident that his running back will be good to go for Sunday's opener, BuffaloBills.com reports.

Spin: The healing progress of the broken bone in Fred Jackson's hand will be examined on Thursday, and he hopes to get fitted with a less intrusive molding ahead of the game. C.J. Spiller will start this week, though Jackson is also expected to have a decent role in the contest. However, given the fact he's coming off an injury and not even starting, we'd try to avoid this situation if you can help it in Week 1.

Coach Chan Gailey has confirmed that Jackson's (hand) teammate C.J. Spiller will start Sunday's opener against the Dolphins, according to WGRZ Sports in Buffalo.

Spin: Jackson owners should be happy that his hand injury is healing nicely, but he's probably a guy to put on your bench this week. Then hope he looks decent in limited action and that the young rookie Spiller doesn't go nuts with his short-term opportunity.
While Spiller is the nominal No. 1 running back on the Bills' current depth chart, coach Chan Gailey suggested Wednesday that his star rookie won't be given the heavy workload of a typical featured back in this Sunday's opener against the Dolphins, The Buffalo News reports. "We have to be very smart about how we handle him, especially early in the year," Gailey said. "We have to make sure we don't throw too much on him very early in the season."
Spin: With Fred Jackson expected to play in a limited role and Marshawn Lynch also in the picture, this has all the makings of a full-blown time-share to us. With byes not in the picture yet, if you can help it we'd suggest having your Buffalo backs on the sidelines until the situation sorts itself out better.
buffalo is going to end up with a barber/jones/choice kind of situation. jackson was good and all last year, but i wouldn't invest that much into him this year. at least not for the first few weeks until we see what c.j. spiller can do. i mean, if jackson is so good, why would buffalo go after spiller with the 9th pick?

To answer the last part, because they need offense and he was the most explosive offensive player in the draft, and all the good OL were gone. They should've traded that pick, IMO. But I agree with the barber/jones/choice situation...except buffalo sucks, so really there isn't any use in owning any of their players. lol.

i'm hoping lee evans pans out to something decent this year. but there isn't much hope in buffalo scoring a lot of points.

yeah i got hosed on qb's...i am hoping eli and mcnabb can be decent....i got fred taylor and fred jackson late, both potential starting rb's...i also got portis late, who knows how that will turn out but it could have upside...shannahan is known for taking scrubs to put up good stats so hoping he can revive an older star...

Jones I think will be the #2 guy soon..and with teams putting some much attention to andre i think jacoby could have a big year....i took in the late rounds guys i thought possibly could have some bigger upside....it really sucks i didnt get a top flight qb but they went too early..was hoping to land schaub in the 2nd round but guy before me took him...also wondering if i should have taken arian foster in the 4th instead of greg jennings...i think foster is going to be a beast
