    FF: Who should I start?

This should probably be an ongoing thread since it's gonna come up a lot.

I am wondering who to start as my RB/WR flex for Week 1 in a non PPR league. I have MJD and Shonn Greene as my RB's and Brandon Marshall and Marques Colston as my WRs and have to decide amongst LeSean McCoy, Cadillac Williams, or Mike Sims-Walker as my flex.

    LeSean vs Green Bay
    Caddy vs Cleveland
    Sims-Walker vs Denver

Tough decision. I'd lean toward LeSean for the following reasons:

    1) Don't trust Caddy's offense. Tampa is going to be terrible this year and Kareem Huggins may take some carries away.
    2) Sims-Walker is decent, but since it's not PPR his value takes a hit plus he will be covered by Champ Bailey most of the game most likely.
    3) That leaves McCoy who is the clear cut #1 in Philly with Westbrook gone and will gain yards on the ground and through the air.

well cbs makes a few good points as I read an article of theirs this morning. CLE gave up 15 rushing TDs last year while GB gave up the fewest in the NFL. So, that would put a vote in Cadi's corner.

  5. #5
I vote for Cad based on the crappy defense (with TD's always being key). I also think Tampa's offense will be better this year with Mike Williams being very good for the Bay.

If it was a PPR league, I may lean towards McCoy, but in a non-PPR....I say go with Caddy for the week.

I am voting for Caddy because I am using him at flex in one of my leagues.

Who should I start: Flacco vs NYJ, Orton vs Jac, or drop Orton and Pick up Henne vs Buf or Smith vs Sea.

I like Flacco just not his matchup against the Jets defense. Orton was ok last year but I am worried about all of Den injuries. I am kinda leaning towards picking up Smith and dropping Orton and startinghim this week.

I would take Henne over Smith, Buffalo is the worst team in the league IMO, their defense is trash. Seattle, while we suck, has a decent defense and some good playmakers.

I like Henne for the same reason I don't like Orton....Brandon Marshall has changed teams.

Cooley prob has more receptions, but I think Winslow will have the bigger game.

Carson Palmer vs NE or Eli Manning vs CAR

I have this exact same match up for my other RB and I'm going with Stewart.

So I'm in one of those Yahoo public leagues. I started Ryan Grant and Jamaal Charles. I left Matt Forte and Arian Foster on the bench. Son of a bitch.

    LOL...

    We all do it.

I benched Welker in one league.

Regardless, I would have started Forte and Foster if I were you (against the crappy running D's they were up against) as opposed to Grant and Charles who are both up against decent running D's. But that is because it is Monday and I can always say that after the fact.

  24. #24
Yeah well, Grant would have done better if he hadn't gotten injured. Also I had literally no idea at all what to expect from Foster, and obviously could not just expect a 40 point effort. And regarding Forte, he burned me in about three leagues last year, so I wasn't about to start his ass on the first weekend.

This shit does happen, though, and I actually think I will still win the game provided Rivers does not go insane on KC's defense.

Malcolm Floyd or Legadu Nannee vs Jacksonville?

Forte dominated against Detroit in the passing game. Any reason to think McCoy cannot do the same thing? I'd put him in over a RB who is only starting b/c of injury.

I don't know about those RB decisions, though. Was Nanee just a fluke or is he the better option in SD now? I didn't see much of the game so I am not sure yet.

    Ouch!

Also, I don't see Forte coming up with numbers NEAR what he put up last week anytime soon. He won't be having long TD receptions often, if at all, and he still didn't show the power/burst he had 3 years ago.

I watched the game and Rivers was def looking for Nannee more, but it might be related to how KC used their coverage. I would go with Nannee personally.

McCoy and Jackson are both good plays next week. Both of the Defenses are bad. Also, Posluszny is out next week for Buffalo. I'd lean toward McCoy just because I think GB will air it out more with Grant down although Jackson has no real backup other than Kuhn so he might be the every down back now. Tough call. Anyone else you can bench?

Maclin over Floyd for me until Floyd proves himself.

Pretty much a coin toss. If Kolb is out, I'd go with Collie because Vick will likely run the ball more than Kolb would. But, I also can't see Collie going back-to-back monster games so that's a tough one. Small lean towards Collie as the slot WR against NYG who will be bringing the heat like Houston did last week.

I agree with this entirely. I'd lean towards Collie, specifically because Kolb is out.

I don't know what you're talking about, he looked pretty legit to me. As far as receiving yards, Martz already said he wants to use him in the passing game just as much as he does running the ball. He may not explode for 44 pts (what he got me) but I wouldn't be surprised to see him finish the season as a Top 5 RB.

  33. #33
Ok, which two would you start out of these 4?

    J Best v. Philly
    M Forte @ Dallas
    A Foster @ Washington
    J Charles @ Cleveland

I am leaning toward Foster and Charles at this time. Foster wont have another 40 point game (maybe ever), but I think he can run well against the Washington D. Charles against the Browns seems like a no brainer. Do you all concur?

    FF: Who should I start?

    So. Week 2.

Coach on the field Shipley Vs. Baltimore, or Coach on the field Walter Vs. Washington?

Shipley had 84 Yds, but 50 was on a hail Mary. Walter only had about two catches, but one was for a 22yd TD.

This one is tough. I'd think Walter SHOULD get more yards. Hopefully Houston airs it out more this week and Schaub and AJ combine for more than just 20 pts. Shipley had 5 catches, so Palmer will throw to him, but I just can't imagine him getting a lot of looks with TO & 85 on the field. I would lean towards Walter because he is the sure-thing #2 in Houston, but I really couldn't fault you for playing Ship.

I'm a big fan of Forte this year, so I'd play him regardless. I'd be torn between Foster & Charles as the other back. Do you not have a flex spot you can play one of them in?

Forte is going to give Dallas' D some problems, IMO. And if it's a PPR league he'll get points from catches too.

i would go with forte and best on this one. matt forte will be catching multiple balls every game with their new offense. he probably won't ring of 2 more 55+ yard td receptions, but he will be extremely active. j best didn't get a whole lot of yards but he is the only one in detroit capable of running the ball into the endzone. plus philadelphia gave up 5.5 ypc to the packers backs.

i truly think foster was a fluke, but only time will tell. he will put up pierre thomas kind of numbers, which is still good, but won't get you 45+ points per week. and charles is still splitting a lot of carries with thomas jones. the best thing for charles is that kc should be ahead all game so that means a lot more rushes.

you really can't go wrong picking any 2 of them though imo.

I think you've got to go with Foster until he proves otherwise, and I'd go with Charles against Cleveland.

Walter, for sure. I wouldn't play Jesus at WR if he played for Buffalo.

this is kind of tough. evans would be the initial choice because he will get 10+ targets a game since he is the only proven wide out on that team. but that means charles woodson will be covering him. but i would still start evans because buffalo will be trying desperately to keep up with the packers. though there is a 30% chance of showers on sunday.

I'm not sure what to thikn about Best at this point. He's clearly the best RB option Detroit has, but with Stafford down who is the QB there now? Daunte Culpepper? Joey Harrington? I can't imagine a team worrying about the back up in Detroit (Shaun Hill, maybe). I don't know if losing the #1 QB will help Best get more touches...or will hurt him because defenses won't worry so much about them throwing the ball and will focus more on shutting best down.

I'd play Forte/Charles, personally. Cleveland gave up almost 100 yards to Tampa Bay (75 to Cadillac) last week and their OL is...mediocre at best. KC has a better all around offense and I wouldn't be surprised to see JC get 120 and a TD or two. Assuming Haley gives him the chance.

    FF: Who should I start?

I play in a 12 year old 20 team 5 keeper dynasty league. EVERYONE is on someones roster.

first of all, we're not all in pansy leagues with 8 or 10 teams.

secondly, lee evans would be explosive if buffalo could find a qb.

    thirdly, he's proven statistically:

    My point exactly.

he has the same quarterback situation as last year and in my league, 44 catches, 612 yards and 7 tds equals 147 points, not to mention the 5 point bonuses for if he went over 100 yards in a game. i wouldn't mind that kind of output from my 2nd or 3rd wide out.

but i digress, i think he has a better chance of putting up points than kevin walter.
