    UT Football, Basketball, Baseball & Golf statues behind Co-op

    Anybody else seen these statues they have put up all round the blacktop area behind the co-op where the gigantic Bevo statue is? They're all the same statues, just with different numbers and skin tones (football has two or three statue types 1 for QB, 1 for RB, 1 for everything else). They look really $#@!ing cheesy and I'm not quite sure why they're being installed. I know they're honoring great former athletes, but it looks like an army of cartoon characters. I'll take a pic later this afternoon.

    I hope like hell the co-op bought on those on consignment. If I had purchased something like that to sell at Rooster's back in the day, he would have kicked my ass up and down Guadalupe.

    These pieces of $#@! were made in China. The Baseball players all look chinese. All the basketball and football players-WHETHER THE PERSON THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WERE BLACK OR WHITE--look the same despite the paint on the skin: black. The Baseball players are all wearing 17th Century heeled shoes with Pilgrim buckles. It is the most absurd and stupid thing you can imagine. I bet you didn't know that VY, TJ FORD, Ricky, all were actually the same person?!!?!?!

    This was jammed through the administration even with the objection of some people saying this is embarrassing and stupid. And it is going to be massively embarrassing.

    Why don't they actually, I don't know, use a parking lot for parking instead of a depository for black face statues? Was the Bevo statue not stupid enough?

    Yes, several times. Just staying that at least they are back there, not near the stadium or something.

    Screw this. It sucked bad when they used that lot and didn't have the garage yet. The big bevo is ugly as hell too though.

    Weird...how long until those have new homes in people's apartments across West Campus?
    I would have agreed that west campus would naturally take care of this abomination, but having visited Austin/West Campus recently, I dont think the tenants today would pull it off. (please prove me wrong on this if you live there and you're reading this).
