I can see it now, fresh off of The Wolverine, Aronofsky takes over for the 4th movie

Honestly, I've always found the character of Catwoman to be cheesy and impossible to pull off. If anyone can do it Nolan should, but I think there's a good chance he doesn't get it done.
I agree. Catwoman has always seemed forced
And although Anne Hathaway was really good in Rachel Getting Married, i am still in the camp that this might not be a great casting choice. again, I guess I just have to trust Nolan, but I have my reservations.
However, love Tom Hardy as Bane.
^ Agreed. I think it would be nice if Catwoman were a bit player in this next film. Some chick that Bruce Wayne wants to bang who also happens to moonlight as a thief that steals loot from the mafia. Maybe she steps in at some point to save Batman's ass in a bind. But otherwise she is not involved in the overall villainous plans of the main antagonists.
I think she could be an interesting character, as long as they stay away from the cat iconography as much as possible. She's a woman cat burglar, everyone will know who the character is supposed to be, so make it about the character, not about ears and a mask. She should be the chaotic neutral, somewhere between good and evil and not terribly torn up about that fact.
In that picture posted. She looks like a Pussycat Dolls dancer. I'm guessing stripper who fights crime? oh noes
Does anyone really know if that pic is legit? At best it might be a 'shopped version of a wardrobe test. Remember how much Nolan guarded the Ledger as Joker images? I don't think they even begin filming for 2 or 3 more months. Expect some brilliant tease via a viral marketing campaign in about 9-12 mos. Why would he publish a shot like that before principle production even begins? In that picture posted. She looks like a Pussycat Dolls dancer. I'm guessing stripper who fights crime? oh noes
Seriously, what has Nolan done better than transform iconic Batman villains into characters that--other than maybe Two Face--couldn't conceivably exist in the real world? And even Two Face isn't a stretch minus the severity of his burns. Why anyone thinks he might change direction 180 degrees & start providing villains with super powers, strength, and comic book attributes is beyond me.

He portrayed the Scarecrow as a mad scientist who wears a burlap sack on his head and uses loony gas to make people think worms were pouring from his eye sockets and that he was riding a giant fire breathing horse. Pretty comic book, IMO... I don't think a dude juiced-out of his mind on some sort of mystery steroid drug is that far of a stretch.
Y'see, I look at his portrayal of Scarecrow as a guy with a nerve toxin that turns messes with peoples' perception of reality as far fetched at all. The worms didn't come out of his eyes & he didn't ride a fire breathing horse, that's just what people imagined. Sounds like a bad trip brought on by any number of hallucinogens to me. The burlap mask was just that: a burlap mask.
Bane on steroids will be similar, IMO. Whatever chemical he uses to boost his strength won't be that far removed from what's already available. I don't expect him to be bench pressing cars.
They actually had to make the burns less realistic, because the original designs were too horrifying:
Nolan designed Two-Face's appearance in the film as one of the least disturbing, explaining, "When we looked at less extreme versions of it, they were too real and more horrifying. When you look at a film like Pirates of the Caribbean – something like that, there's something about a very fanciful, very detailed visual effect, that I think is more powerful and less repulsive."[97] Framestore created 120 computer-generated shots of Two-Face's scarred visage. Nolan felt using make-up would look unrealistic, as it adds to the face, unlike real burn victims.
JGL rumored to be negotiating to play Hugo Strange, kind of hoping its not true, given the 3 villain rule...hopefully as another poster said maybe Cat women will be more of a side character.

That's just Ain't It Cool speculating. Dark Horizons just said he was being cast. Nolan is no fool, so I don't think he's going the triple route of villains, even if Catwoman probably mostly won't be Catwoman in the film.
But we'll see. Wally Pfister said it was an amazing script, and was currently too large and they're cutting it down. So I guess we'll see.
I get the feeling JGL will be Nightwing. That way they can kill off Bale at the end but Batman lives on as Nightwing takes over.
I am not a comic book fan but I thought the 1st 2 Batmans that Nolan did were amazing.
I am afraid introducing more of the characters is going to jump the shark. Not like the 90s Batman flicks, nothing can be that bad. Nolan is a great director though so I'll give him a shot. Just my fear.
If they kill off Bale, "The Dark Knight Rises" is the worst title ever.
well this looks encouraging

http://www.firstshowing.net/2011/dp-...is-phenomenal/
Christopher Nolan's longtime director of photography Wally Pfister explains that the script for the third movie links back to the first two Batman movies in what sounds like some interesting ways:He also says they're going to shoot as much of the film in IMAX as is humanly possible:Plain and simple - he's done it. It's a phenomenal script. He's still in the process of cutting it back because it's a very long script right now, but it's really phenomenal. And he actually had me go back and wanted me to watch, in IMAX, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight again. When I watched those I had read the script for The Dark Knight Rises and was like, ‘Dude, it is a perfect trilogy.' I think that was his intent, to work off those two pictures - and they are very different pictures. And it's funny, we all had different opinions about which picture we like better. Our goal is to shoot as much in IMAX as we can. We're going to put in on the screen, and put it on the screen big. And I really encourage everyone to see it in IMAX if they can, because we're really going for it this time. In terms of the action, we are all scratching our heads right now trying to figure out how we're going to do it; how we're going to do it in the amount of time we're going to do it in. The opening scene of the movie will blow your mind.
I think Nolan could and should skip right right past Robin. You could twist Hugo Strange to be a redempted character. First he battles Batman, then Bane breaks Batman, then Hugo Strange realizes Gotham needs the symbol of Batman so he takes the mantle. The Dark Knight Rises could be a Phoenix analogy. One Batman dies then is reborn.

Marion Cotillard as Talia Al Ghul?
They seem to be cramming a lot of stuff into this one...
I'm guessing it's going to be a small part.
I'm honestly guessing this flick is going to end with a feeling of Batman having overcome whatever major villains they're pushing, with the idea of many other threats looming or getting started. Sort of in a sense that Batman's work will never be done, but he's facing up to the challenge.
There's long been a rumor that there would be too female "leads" in the movie, Catwoman and another. Talia Al Ghul was rumored to be on that list along w/ Selina Kyle. Then again, Tom Hardy was suppose to be Hugo Strange, as well.
She's a fit for the "look" of Talia in the comics. Dark skin, dark hair, etc.
don't think they're legit but still kinda cool

Definitely not legit. Not terribly creative, either IMO.
So when does Ellen page join the cast?

Not a bad choice for villain, not a bad choice for actor to play him. Already excited for this film.

I really hope he dosen't use more than 2 villains because if this movie is even only as good as Batman Begins this has the possibility to go down as one of the most iconic trillogies of all time.
Too bad Maggie Gyllenhall failed so badly while pretending to be attractive
Batman vs Chad Briscoe would be $#@!ing epic.
Can't $#@!ing wait for this movie. My thoughts while reading this thread:
I just started reading this thread tonight; somewhere on page 2, I had to look up Tom Hardy, because while I thought I knew who he was from Inception, I wasn't positive. Not sure how he will translate as Bane, but as many have said, I didn't think Ledger would translate to The Joker. That being said, I followed the IMDB link to the page for The Dark Knight Rises and noticed JGL in the cast before reading further. My immediate thought was Nightwing. It's been a while since I read the series, but JGL seems like a perfect fit.
With that in mind, I can see Batman actually getting his back broken in the movie and the title still fitting. I know its fun to pile on longhorngirls silly remarks, but her interpretation wasn't actually off from how the title of "The Dark Knight" was used, as it was actually a reference to Harvey Dent's speech in the movie where he states, "the night is always darkest before the dawn" or something to that effect. So, to envision Batman being crippled, but the title of the film refering to Gotham as a whole coming out of the darkness, isn't a ridiculous thought and could set up for Nightwing to take over as the protector of Gotham.
Finally, I don't know what to think about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I mean, there are a lot of things I would eat out of her ass...but can she pull off such a contrived character? Again, I'll defer to Nolan.

Oh...well,damn I didn't click that link. IMDB still doesnt have his role listed. "The Holliday Killer" sounds $#@!ing gay, but whatever.

If we're bringing in everyone from Inception then I nominate Leo to play Azrael. This would actually kick a lot of ass. I cannot wait for this film!
Dark Horizons saying that JGL as Alberto Falcone possibly a rumor or misinformation, and he might not even know his role in the film until just before shooting.
LHG is still epically wrong, however.
Nolan is beginning to speak publicly on the cast & roles.
http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04...aled/?hpt=SbinAccording to a press release, Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help Bruce Wayne resume his slain father’s philanthropic efforts in Gotham City.
Gordon-Levitt, meanwhile, will portray beat cop John Blake, who is assigned to special duty under Commissioner Gordon's command.
you guys see the green pool that they took a picture of in india today? what does that mean.
$#@!, this is a pretty $#@!ing awesome fan made trailer
The website is now active. Just a black screen with people chanting. I'm expecting they'll start a similar campaign like the did for TDK (vote Harvey Dent).
