Honestly, the bars downtown should try to cater to the relays visitors. Simple, play hip-hop/R&B and have a strict dress code. You'll attract more of the more affluent brothas and sistas(Greek Orgs) who'll behave. Dress Codes will help keep most thugs away.

My wife(gf at the time) got separated from the group on 6th street during a relays 5 years ago. She broke down and cried(partly because she was drunk off of 3 Baby A's purples) because so many people were hassling her and being very aggressive. My wife and I have sprint and couldn't connect to the network because Sprint's is the preferred Black provider. I finally found her but got hassled by the sistas for me being with a White girl. [Cool Story]

If you're white(or Asian,non-ghetto,etc) and don't have much experience with a lot of Blacks, don't go down there. Most importantly, don't bring your hot chicks down or they'll be groped, cat-called, everything. No exaggeration. Don't go downtown period because 4th and West 6th will be extremely packed from the spillover of the normal dirty 6th crowd. I have to admit, the tricked out cars are entertaining...too bad they're late on their rent.

Serious question and premise to objectively mull:

Perhaps we have reached the point where it is the knowledgeable and, as you specifically say, for the "highly educated" and informed that are prejudiced and racist and NOT the ignorant, as it has been for as long as blacks and white's have cohabitated in America? When speaking in generalities (and really one can only do so for we can't be expected to use an outlier or rare occurance to rule the day), does racisim serve as an important and valuable factor in keeping social peace and in safety?

We, apparently, can all sit on our perch and cackle about how ghetto and poor and ignorant and silly the majority of African American's are, and how they display such behaviors without couth, BUT, to be fair, we would belittle the white trash and poor oklahomans or west virginians if they were to have a hillbilly festival or something.

And, I noticed that we derided the hipsters during sxsw. So, maybe it isn't an issue of race, per se, but a cultural issue with those whose vast majority share the same race?
