Really? I always thought CoD had better graphics than BF.
Like vicerous said, CoD and BF are like apples and oranges. CoD is faster paced, more action, less teamwork. BF has bigger maps, more defined roles and better multi-player functions. When people squad up and have a good commander, BF game can be a thing of beauty.

'Call of Duty' Targets a Monthly Fee
Well that is certainly interesting news. It was only a matter of time before they tried to extract maximum dollars from each release.
It would have to be some seriously awesome $#@! for me to pay a monthly fee.
I'm just going to list stuff that I remember from BF. Should give you an idea on how they're different
It's been a while so someone correct me if I'm wrong but in BF you keep score by flag/base captures, the more bases you control the faster your score goes up. It has vehicles ... tanks, jeeps, helicopters, jets, boats etc.. The vehicles were different for whatever side you were on. For instance, the American transport chopper was different than the Chinese transport chopper. Same with the other vehicles.
The attack choppers and some jets had a spot for a pilot and gunner (I don't think I've ever had as much fun in a game as I did when shooting TV missiles as chopper gunner). There were also multiple spots for teammates in the other vehicles.
With the classes you could do anything from heal, lay down mines for enemy vehicles, c4 stuff, repair friendly vehicles/destroyed bridges/destroyed commander artillery, give ammo resupply to teammates and some other things I'm forgetting.
Maps also had stations where you could shoot down choppers/jets with anti air missiles.
If a vehicle was destroyed it re-spawned after a certain amount of time.
You could form squads with other players and spawn where your squad leader was when you died.
You could call for supply crates/jeep drops/radar/artillery support from whoever was playing the commander class during the game.
You could parachute in out of jets and helicopters. The expansion pack had zip lines/the smaller choppers/4-wheelers and jet ski's if I remember correctly.
You could steal the other teams jets/helicopters/tanks etc.
Maps are bigger in BF.
I'm probably leaving a lot out but I hope it helped.

If you read the article, it states that the price will be for a premium service, and not required for online play...
Yep......it also mentions map packs. Just saw this link on their facebook page. Check out the video

http://kotaku.com/5805959/the-modern...ew-killstreaksIt's a fair guess that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will follow in the footsteps of last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops, shattering sales records and bringing even more people to video games.
But it's typically not the single player campaign, detailed here, that draws in those record-breaking numbers. While many, including myself, enjoy the Call of Duty campaigns, it's the multiplayer that has managed to shift the Call of Duty franchise from a video game to something more akin to a sport.
People play pick-up games of Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, even Modern Warfare, like they play games of baseball, soccer or shoot some hoops. Like it or not, consider it innovative or rehashed gameplay, the Call of Duty franchise has in many ways transcended what it is to be a video game.
So here's your first, unofficial look at what we can expect from the bread and butter, the heart of Modern Warfare 3 when it hits this fall. Do keep in mind that while the details of the game's single player campaign, first reported by Kotaku via inside sources and later seemingly verified with the official release of a trailer and matching levels, are likely mostly locked in stone. What is delivered with multiplayer could easily shift. Multiplayer is often tweaked after the game hits. It also receives a number of downloadable content packs post launch. With the advent of Elite, that's even more likely.
That being said, here's what our inside sources are telling us we can expect from multiplayer.
The game's multiplayer will be divided into cooperative Special Ops maps and traditional multiplayer maps. There will be no zombie modes in this game, not a surprise since zombies were introduced to the Call of Duty franchise by Treyarch and have, so far, popped up only in the Treyarch-developed games.
Special Ops will include both a survival, horde-like mode and a mission mode, with a total of a dozen maps and missions to choose from between the two.
As we've previously reported, there are 20 maps being worked on for Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer.
It is unclear how many multiplayer and Spec Ops maps and missions will come with the game and how many will be sold at a later date as add-on downloadable content.
Key to the multiplayer experience is the ability for players to level up their characters and unlock perks to modify the effectiveness of their equipment, character and enemy equipment. The multiplayer matches also include killstreaks, which are special one-time rewards that are unlocked after a player kills other players a set number of times without dying.
As could be expected, developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have been working to tweak both killstreaks and perks for Modern Warfare 3.
The biggest new addition to the game that we've heard of so far is the creation of Team Perks. These are perks that a team can work toward to earn. It is unclear whether this will be tied to clans or some other team system, but their inclusion could help push the game into a more team-driven title, something the premium Elite service is likely to tie into.
While we don't know the total number of team perks coming to Modern Warfare 3, we have been told four of them:
Stopping Power: Increased bullet damage.
Blast Shield: Unclear
Health Regen: Regenerate health over time.
Stun Protection: Prevent stunning from flash grenades.
New perks coming to Modern Warfare 3 include:
Blind Eye: This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks. The pro version makes your launchers lock on faster and gives you extra bullet damage to vehicles.
Assassin: This makes you immune to UAV, thermal, and heartbeat sensors. The pro version also makes you immune to CUAV, EMP and no longer shows your name in red or the crosshair in red when you're targeted.
Point Guard: Every two assists count as a kill towards your killstreak.
Dead Silence: You make no noise.
Recon: Gives you a special kind of radar to spot enemies, most likely. We're not sure on this one.
We're not clear on how many or which previous perks will be coming to the game, but it sounds like the ones that do return will do some from Modern Warfare 2, not Black Ops.
There will also be a bevy of new killstreaks to play with in multiplayer. Here's the rundown on the latest thinking:
EMP Grenade: Temporarily takes out all area electronics.
Littlebird: A tiny remote-controlled helicopter.
Precision Airstrike: Calls in an airstrike on a targeted area.
Stealth bomber: Calls in a B2 Spirit to carpet bomb along a line designated by the player.
Remote Turret: A remote controlled turret.
Directional UAV: A UAV that can be directed into areas to scan for enemies.
Remote Mortar: Direct a mortar team using a zoomable camera view of the map to call in strikes.
Airdrop Trap: A booby-trapped airdrop.
Ammo Resupply: An ammo reloading airdrop.
Escort Airdrop: A protected airdrop.
Specialist Strike Package: This one remains a mystery to us.
While it's likely that some of the killstreaks will drop out or be added in, we've been told that the team has decided to remove the controversial Tactical Nuke killstreak from the game.
Other tweaks being looked at by the team include making sure things like exploding barrels not counting toward a player's killstreak tally.
We've also learned, unfortunately, that this latest Call of Duty still won't support dedicated servers, instead relying on the hosted servers found in previous iterations of the game. Dedicated servers were removed from the Modern Warfare games starting with Modern Warfare 2. (Modern Warfare 3 appears to be using DemonWare for player authentication, just like with Call of Duty: Black Ops.)
That legend of karl video was funny. Was that Ryan Rynolds voice over?
shagag, are you trying to tell me that battlefield multiplayer is more fun that call of duty? Because that is the first I have heard of that.
There are definitely things to love about both styles of multiplayer.
Honestly though the most fun I've ever had with multiplayer was the precursor to BF2, Battlefield 1942 with the Desert Combat mod. That was pretty much the best time I've ever had in a multiplayer setting. Also BF 1942 Battle of Britain map. It's basically an airplane battle, that was a ton of fun.
BF1942 w/ Desert Combat mod was better than BF2 IMO.
The only thing I didn't like about the BF series were the damn helicopters. I understand they're powerful in real life, and it takes a lot of practice to pilot them in the game, but getting unguided rocket up my ass 5 times in a row gets old real fast.
You can always tell the true retards by the ones that use the nuke kill streak.
Yes you are on a team... but the objectives, maps, and multiplayer game as a whole are not team based. Even though you have one side versus the other, you are basically all just outfitting your soldier for your personal preference and it has no real bearing on the other players. It is more of a deathmatch scenario. BF has squad and team based cooperation to achieve objectives on each map. You have specific roles (ie. Medic, Assault, Recon, and Engineer) that are used to compliment the other members of your team and help them advance. Medics obviously can heal and revive teammates, assault can replenish ammo, engineers can repair and destroy vehicles, and recon can spot enemy units and relay their positions to teammates. You can also drive and fight with all the vehicles in BF, not just call them in as a kill streak reward. You have tanks, hummers, jeeps, quads, helicopters, boats, jetskis, and fighter jets. In each of these vehicles, you can have one player driving, one firing grenades out the window, and one using the .50 Cal turret mounted on the roof. Or you can fly a helicopter around firing rockets off while your buddy sits in the gunner seat firing at infantry units below. The game is designed for multiplayer teamwork, MW is not.
Also one thing I hated at first but learned to love was sniping in BF. It takes skill and you have to account for bullet drop and the like. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty rewarding.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Taptalk.
Honestly, any game is fun if you have people to socialize with, especially with your friends. The multiplayer aspect is one part of it, but when you play it with friends that you know, then the game becomes even more fun.
Yup, leading running targets and accounting for bullet drop. Best part of sniping is you actually have a big enough map to snipe from long distance without someone running 5 seconds and knifing you from behind. There is also no killer cam so snipers stay hidden after the kill you (although they are threatening to add it to BF3).
I prefer BF3, but COD has a few things going for it:[list][*] Nearly every spot on the map is vulnerable. You can't camp and expect to live. Someone will get you from behind.
[w] Weapons are pretty balanced. Noone is following you around to pick up your G36 after you die.
I stopped going for nukes on MW. Got too easy and honestly I don't like to die a single time, so I just started going 30-0 and ending the game with no deaths. Getting to listen to everyone say stuff like: "He must have cheated", "Who the $#@! is this dude", "He wasn't camping yall I saw that fool running around murkin niggas the entire time", "$#@! Ace of Austin" etc... is awesome.
And here we have 13 minutes of non-commentary gameplay from MW3. Running around NYSE shooting $#@!. AMERICA!!! F#CK YEAH!!!

Duuuuuude!!!! 5 more months!!!
I have a friend that works for activision (so he MAY be a little biased, but I tried to make him give me an honest opinion) and he just got back from E3 and he said that BF3 looks good but MW3 is going to kill it. He said EA kicked everyone out from activision (including CEO) during the BF3 behind the scenes demo (or something of that nature). Any way I can't wait for it
I thought I was done with COD after the MW2 disappointment - but this one looks $#@!ing awesome.

Our deepthroat tells us that the female assistant hopped to the front of the EA queue on Wednesday morning (08/06/11). The DICE-developed military title is only being shown behind closed doors in Los Angeles - and not on console.
Her request was reportedly stewed over for a minute in private, until an EA rep re-emerged on the public show floor. He then explained that senior management had been consulted about the Activision chief's request, but that "it would not be possible".
[Update: Activision has denied that the incident took place. Spokesperson Dan Amrich said on Twitter: "Okay, checked here, and as I thought, the whole "Bobby denied" thing is not true. Did not happen. Someone is pulling your leg, folks." Our very senior source remains very adamant that it did.]
Kotick's company is showing off BF3 competitor Modern Warfare 3 at E3 - a presentation which is also invite-only.
We're told by our witness that Kotick's PA put up a small conversational fight before walking away. She did not look in a good mood. Our observer asked an EA rep on the door for clarification of what he thought he'd seen immediately afterwards, and the events were corroborated.
Seriously, though. Beyond amazing.
EA's Battlefield 3 will be released on 360, PS3 and PC on October 25 in the US and three days later in Europe.
Activision's Modern Warfare 3 will hit the same formats on November 8 worldwide.
Immune? Like how immune are we talking about? When I drop a predator missle on somebodies head I expect them to die.New perks coming to Modern Warfare 3 include:

As other people were talking about Battlefield. I personally find myself playing much more bad company 2 then any COD game atm. More strategy, more to the game then just running and gunning, depends more on team work which allows you to play the game in a lot of different ways to selectively help out your team. I think they are different enough that you can enjoy both. If you can play Halo and COD, then certainly u can play Battlefield 3 and Mw3, people get wrapped up in comparing them because they are both FPS set in the modern era..but that's about where the similarities end

Same as the cold blooded perk, you probably don't show up on radar or infrared, that would be my guessImmune? Like how immune are we talking about? When I drop a predator missle on somebodies head I expect them to die.
never played battlefield before.......good?
^ Seeing him save his team member brings it back baby. I can't wait for this $#@!.
... as much as i want to believe in this game I'm getting more and more jaded. the survival mode looks meh, why turn off FF when you only have 1 other partner... just don't get it, not really a sound idea to fire a fully auto AR at an attack dog that is on top of your mate from 10+ feet away, or bring down a guided missile that "danger-close" without repercussions.
I know this game is going to sell crazy well, even I have it pre-ordered but I have a feeling this is going to have a shorter shelf-life than MW2 for me. I just need closure on the SP story since MW2 was bat-$#@! crazy.
Just losing faith in the branding. MW was such a step forward as was BF2, both basically set their different styles jumps ahead of the competition. MW2 showed such potential and the story started pretty strong but then they went Micheal Bay and convoluted with the story. then there was the multiplayer that was a joke for anyone who played quite a bit. stackable killstreaks, ACR laser rifle, one man army + nubetube and dual wielding 1887s...
I'm excluding WaW and BlOps since they were treyarch. the silliness that happened with MW2 was due to the shenanigans that were going on with activision and IW doesn't present me with the faith that a trimmed down IW and Sledgehammer will wow me.
Like I said, I'm still buying the game. I'll still probably go 1000/1000 on gamerscore for the game like I did with MW and MW2 but I'm not expecting this to hold me like MW.
I also am not wishing failure on this title, I really hope that in November I'm torn between 2 great FPS title with this and BF3. I'm not a fanboy of either but I just have higher expectations of Dice than I do of IW at this point.
I'm sorry but I played and enjoyed multiplayer for countless hours before I had to snap the game in half, and I'm looking forward to more. The moment you said the multiplayer on MW2 was a joke you lost all credibility in my book. If you didn't like it, then you were probably one of the ones getting assraped every time you spawn.
nah, I'm not great and I run a 1.27 K/D ratio in MW2 and had a 1.2 K/D ratioin MW1, a 1.6 in BlOps. like I said MW2 MP was fun for a bit, then everyone realized that ACR was a laser rifle and 5 guys would be sprinting around with akimbo 1887s. then every other map some guy was calling in an airstrike, chopper gunner and then a nuke... oh and I forgot the stupid lunging knife strike distance was way off, then add commando pro and tactical knife and you could knife someone 10feet away.
I only play Hardcore modes, usually headquarters but I still feel that MW2 was overpowered in too many ways and broken in others when compared to MW.
I played the heck out of MW2 MP, I had it 1000/1000 within a couple of weeks. the only games on 360 that I've logged more hours on are BF2:BC2, MW and Forza2. there is no way that I should be able to pick up the game 2 weeks ago, create an ACR loadout and managed to go 40+ on kills in 3 straight matches and manage to get 2 AC-130s called in... basically because the ACR auto-resets and I stacked my killstreaks with such ease.
how can you honestly argue that the MP wasn't borked with serious "holes" that could be constantly exploited(not hacked or cheated). not saying it wasn't fun for a good amount of time, but there were issues that constantly gave me scowl face.
