Holy $#@! the campaign is just $#@!ing epic only halfway though 3rd level too
Holy $#@! the campaign is just $#@!ing epic only halfway though 3rd level too
My big complaint are the flat levels. I hate not having high ground and power positions. Some of these maps don't even have cover from air support.
god I hate learning these new maps. Been a long time since I've been killed from behind and I have no idea where they came from.
Quick scope snipers are a huge problem so far.
Are you talking flat in the sense that you cannot get on top of buildings? Because this game has more ground elevation change than either of the last two. Eg. The sloping of Mission, carbon, the large hilled corner on resistance, the low corner on dome, and the ups and downs of hard hat. I do wish you get on top of more buildings, but ground sloping and forcing the enemy to constantly work up hill are allowing my crew to have 30 plus game win streaks.
The campaign is good but I was expecting it to be longer. Oh well, beat the hell outta BF3's campaign for me.
I'm not liking the maps, but maybe I'll get used to them. I definitely liked the mw2 maps better.
Campaign is great. Don't want to beat it too fast so I quit playing it for a while.
Campers are plentiful and as annoying as ever. I remember now why I snapped the last game in half.
Good God I suck. I want to blame it on lag, but my connection speeds are all good. I played three games early this morning and registered... 4 kills. I might have to stick to the campaign for a bit. Hopefully when I learn the maps it will get better.
Campers will die down when folks get comfortable with the maps....
Speaking of maps, my take:
At this point, I cannot think of one map that absolutely stands out against the rest. And this is a first for a COD game. As a whole, they seem a bit cluttered and campy, but the style of play is not constant for the entire group as a whole. There really is a map or 2 for every style of play. It seems that matchmaking is once again not adequately sharing the load between all maps, as I think I have played Seatown 40 times, but only Mission twice. I have my worst games on Bootleg and Downturn, and Arkaden, Resistance, And dome have been destroying on.
Guns:
I run and gun. I nearly exclusively use Assault rifles. My take so far. on the guns I have used:
M4: Its the M4 on a COD franchise, it hasn't changed.
SCAR-L:If you used the Scar in MW2, you will love it once again in 3. Smooth, buttery, and so far the best sounding gun with a suppressor. Not quite as overpowered as in Mw2.
CM901: If you loved the commando in BO, than you will enjoy this gun. I have used it VERY heavily (I have leveled it to 30 already) and very much enjoy it.
G36c: You remember it from the first MW, and the stats and feel are very similar. I used it as a bridge gun to the ACR, but I have a sneaking suspicion I will keep coming back to it over and over.
ACR 6.8: Loud, Booming, Big. 3 things I did not expect from my Favorite gun to date in the COD franchise. This has very good stopping power and does have a good bit of Recoil. It is no longer a laser beam. When I say loud, this gun sounds as load with a suppressor as the scar does without one.
UMP: The UMP from MW2 with less umph.....
P90: Bullet blazer, as always steady aim is a must.
Secondary:
The Javeline is on every class of mine that may need to shoot something out of the sky. WHy you ask? It will take down any killstreak I have come across in a single shot. Mind you, I have not faced a C-130 yet, but it will take down a Pavlow or Advanced UAV with one. It also can act like a predator towards a specific area of the map.
XM25: Is my new thumper. And I mean thumper from MW3, not that nerfed garbage from BO. you get 3 magazines with 4 explosives each, semi-auto. It has possibly the best sight in the game, and and is a blast on maps like dome and Hard hat. There is no more lob like you had to compensate for on the thumper either. Just point and shoot.
Killstreaks:
Love the new system. Not so overpowering ala MW2, but not so weak ala BO. If I am with a group, I am rocking the support classes. If I am rushing, the assault. And if I feel like full on beast mode, the specialist. ALl of this, and I don't have to remember to change them between games.
Perks:
Well, it seems the developers listed. No more last stand as a perk (thank God). However, many things that were taken care of by 1 perk in previous games are split into 2 and sometimes 3 different perks. I will say, as someone who HATES EVER BEING ON THE RADAR. The nerfing of ghost has me very angry. I now have to waste 2 slots to stay off of the radar, and not be worried about getting shot by a chopper. Bull$#@!. If it weren't for specialist, i would be screaming. But other than that rant, I think they a very balnced top to bottom. no more Flak jacket and unlimited sprint.
Overall, I think I am going to enjoy this game quite a bit more that BO. It seems to me that Treyarch always leave me wanting more, and after 12 hours of in game (via the barracks) playtime, I don't feel that way. I also think I will enjoy this one more than MW2 for 2 reasons, killstreaks are not overpowered and elite.
Now that I have mentioned that, WHERE THE $#@! IS MY ELITE! I pay 50 bucks extra to get all of this cool stats and clan tracking and other $#@!, and you don't have it up and running on launch day? I better be getting something for my trouble (not holding breath). A lot of you know the group I run with, hell we don't play by ourselves, we only play with the group. So the idea of game battles and clan rankings built into the gaming system has me with a full on stiffy. That is if they can get it up and running.
More later.
I'm really liking the game. Don't have any complaints other than the dewxp and elite $#@! not being ready to roll at launch, but that soon will pass.
Domination on Carbon absolutely sucks if you don't hold C. Its too hard to take B from A as your working uphill the entire time.
Anybody want to play hit me up XBL= fudbelty.
I have a decent group of friends that we play with but will add more when we have room. Its nice to play games with entire teams of people you know. We ran off 11 wINS in a row last night with a group of five

I'm liking it so far - the killstreak options are cool and I'm thinking that specialist is going to be good stuff for hardcore games. I did have connection issues at first - it probably took me 7 or 8 attempts before I got into a game that lasted until conclusion. After I got into one good game I would stay in that lobby and not have any problems, but it was a pain getting into a good lobby.
I've been rolling with the silenced M4 with reduced bounce and I'm liking it. The G36 seems like it's going to be a beast as well. What is everyone else using? What did everyone use their Prestige tokens for? I'm still sitting on 3 of them.
Man I am a Noob all over again. I haven't played since MW2....never got Black Ops so its been about 2 years.....I was getting wrecked.
I have a bad tendency from MW2 to swing the knife when I'm close to someone out of habit....that only got me killed about 100 times because my reaction and then I can't fire the weapon because its so slow to bring the gun back up.....I got to break this habit
Maxed out the Scar last night. I can't overstate how much the Stability gun perk helps. I'm using the hybrid scope and there is no "sway" at all when looking down the sight. Loving this gun.
The hybrid scope rocks on assault rifles. I hate (and there is documentation on this site going all the way back to MW1) sights of any kind (red, holo, reflex) but do find the need occasionally to use the a cog...
With the hybrid, i get the short sight picture, as well as the ability to reach out and touch someone.
Having withdrawls..dont know if ill make it
I was all Scar all the time and I think I will land there again with the Hybrid scope and silencer.
I plan on getting some serious work in this weekend late into the night.
Played for a few hours last night and quit when I kept getting server issues. The Elite is very much a bummer right now. I am still no where close to being good, but I have fun. The maps will take a while to get used to, but the game is fairly solid overall. I do really like the options we have no with weapon packs and killstreaks. There is some good stuff added in there.
I unlocked 1 extra custom slot and I'm still sitting on the other 3. figure I'll save them for later prestiging, like keeping a rifle unlocked after prestige.
even though I haven't really created more than 2 custom slots I've already renamed them as per my MW1 classes... Snake Doc, Cool Breeze, Dirt Diver, Betty Blue, Hammerhead, Blue Iguana... I'm a major "The Unit" fan.
also I noticed that I actually got a token for WaW despite not actually prestiging in it, I was at the max rank but never flipped it over.
For Support, what does the drone UAV do?
I've been rolling Counter, Advanced, Stealth Bomb. Advice?
Here is my favorite class so far....
CM901
kick
silencer
sleight of hand(pro)
assassin(pro)
stalker(pro)
support - advanced UAV, stealth bomber, escort air drop
final stand?
I thought I was crazy for using the scar, then I see everyone uses it. That gun can be a beast.
How do you use prestige tokens? I haven't seen anything that has anything to do with MW2 except a little symbol signifying the prestige rank I had reached. Maybe I didn't get any tokens.
I keep hitting R3 (ps3) and pulling out my knife when I should be shooting. That's been getting me killed quite a bit.

I kept trying to shoot people with that little pecker.
Also, the Osprey gunner, pretty fun.
My big 3 classes:
And right now the guns change based on what i have unlocked....
Assault:
ACR
-attachments
-Hybrid
-suppressor
Lethal
2nd
-XM25
-Betty
Tactical
-Concussion
Perks
-Blind Eye Pro
-Assassin Pro
-Dead silence pro (this will move to Sitrep pro once more folks level up, but right now I have not been running into many explosives)
Then whatever Assault killstreaks you like
Support is pretty much the same, but with kick and the suppressor. Extreme conditioning instead of Blind eye. And Javeline instead of 25.
(remember, dying is not an issue with support package, so no need to waste perks not being killed by aircraft.)
Specialist is all about choosing you perk order wisely. I typically choose sleight of hand in perk slot one, because reloads need to be quick, assassin, and dead silence.
The earners are where strategy comes into play.
2 kills is typically Extreme conditioning, so I can run longer
4 kills i typically use blind eye, so as not to be killed by aircraft at this point.
6 kills I am usually low on ammo, so scavenger
8 you get everything....
You really have to weigh what you are going to need most at each point in the killstreak to optimize specialist, but once you figure out what works for your style, its good night
Ex. My last match last night.
Playing with my group on Arkaden, we like to hold the outer courtyard/high-point area. was 2-5 starting out early trying to hold a bad spot with support class. Switched to specialist, and worked the left side bar area and proceeded to go 30-1 to finish the map (32-6 total). All because i set myself up to improve based on what perks i got at what time....
Also, now I guess I know what those LOUD NOISES are. It's the ACR. Cant wait.
also want to mention that I've never seen so much merchandise for one game before. When I went into Best Buy yesterday they had hats, shirts, beanies, headphones, glasses, earpieces, controllers, etc. Ridiculous.
Btw i would have bought a tshirt if they weren't $19
I actually like the maps a lot although I haven't played any hardcore search or any hc modes to be honest. As soon as I get home it's my time!!
Anybody want to kick ass in hcsd let me know
Ps3: Fredmundo79
HCSD is my favorite game but I'm gonna hold off and try and get the full experience for a couple more days.
I have a pretty old Turtle Beach headset, like 5 years or more and love it. I would like to upgrade. They are pretty bad ass and give me the ability to turn the volume up without waking the family.
After playing BC2 and BF3 for awhile, I suck at this game. I used to average 2:1 K/D on Black Ops... I can barely break even now
My first 3 hours last night was 1.1:1 and I was 1.75 on Black Ops.
What's always interesting is you can tell the really good players when you get into a lobby with people in the 50+ rank range and one guy is on 13 and kicking ass every game, with little to no help from his loadout...on the day the game comes out.
Damn I die a lot and I hate it. I would rather have fewer kills than die as much as I am. Any tips? Getting raped. Last 3 games I was leading the corpse category.
The Reason--what about using a Prestige token for Double XP on a Double XP weekend, would that give me quad xp? Would completely take the sting out of prestiging, since I normally only do it once or twice.
Really enjoying the silenced M4A1 with heartbeat sensor. It's great right now because everyone is so new and doesn't expect it. Slays in HC.
IMO, the type 95 is OP. Was just killed in 2 shots (looked like one in the leg, one in the stomach) after I pumped 4 into him with a SCAR. Really annoying
Ahhhh 5-kill multiple-kill with the reaper.
