I could never go back to the old defensive system. It looks nothing like soccer. All you had to do was mash the A button.

it doesn't work like that. there are still the same principles and foundation of tactical defending. if you mash the "a" or "o" button, your shape still becomes ruined, you become a lot more venerable, their midfield runs rampants which leads to more goals.

i have it on legacy but i don't use the double team button nearly as much as last seasons.

This. I started with the new system and switched to legacy for one game just to try it. Legacy was actually harder for me to use and much less effective. Once you get the new system down it's awesome.

The online gameplay is an atrocity.

Defending is absolutely impossible. And I swear this $#@! is programmed to allow back and forth scoring.

I've also started manager mode and simply cannot defend for $#@!. This game is ultra $#@!ing frustrating.

Yeah, the fouling system is so jacked up, i can't believe some of the weird calls that go against me and yet the computer can run over me without touching the ball and that's perfectly fine. With the defensive system as challenging as it is, it would help out a lot if the fouls were more balanced. What gets me is that even when I send a defender to run with the guy (since running is all the ai teammates can do, they can't actually make an intelligent play on the ball), the same $#@!ty fouls are called.

also I'm in my 9th season with herefor united. and even though I'm only a four 1/2 star team I will be by far the best team in two years. there are exactly 7 players over 70 under 23 years old in the entire game left. no other club played their good players and the teams only play their best player regardless of how fatigued they are.

when all of barcelona's players retire it'll be a rap and every team will be fantastically mediocre.

maybe it's just online then, because i've seen it happen on a regular basis. Even got messages from other people on calls that went my way. In these instances i knew for a fact he was a tiny bit offsides, but they just didnt call it.

So, I've been playing career mode on FIFA for forever now. The fact that I win 90% of the games that I manually pay never bothered me because it wasn't about a challenging game per se, but to me it was about getting better as an individual, and with the best players on the game. I really was just trying to score sick goals, make sick passes, and juke defenders. Thus the highlight reels. My goal was to make it to where I could school my friends when I play them. Well, I've finally gotten bored of that, and feel like Ive certainly done enough of that for now, so the plan is to finish out this career mode (i'll probably just do this one more season) and then start doing what a lot of you guys have been doing, and trying to build a small team up to a world power.

So, I decided that for this one last run where I'm better than everyone I play, that I would try and just stack the best team possible, and I think Ive pretty much done it. This is easily my most stacked starting 11 ever, and I actually have 2 or 3 guys on my bench who are 85+ and are really "co-starters". The transfer window just closed, and this is the team I came away with:

Oh yea, and Wojo Sczezny broke his $#@!ing leg in the 15th minute of one of those losses, yet her finished the game. Brilliant.

Make that 6 wins, zro draws, zero losses. Oh yeah, and I already played these scrubs and smashed them 4-1. Also, in 3 of the 6 losses I've suffered either a major injury or red card to one of my star players. Seriously. $#@! EA.

After a loss to Blackburn Rovers and a draw with Tranmere Rovers, Bournemouth has defeated the best team in the world twice in a row. This is literally akin to predicting that a college football team would beat the Super Bowl champs.

That's n4 now. i should also mention that I simmed my match against Aston Villa, and despite 2 players getting red carded, AV deeated me 2-1, with the winning goal coming down 9-11 in terms of players. Seriously. No.....SERIOUSLY. I want to meet someone who helped design this game just so I can do something that will make their lie $#@!ing suck ass for a decent amount of time. 2 of my ties were pretty intense where I had to score in the last 5-10 minutes to get the draw. None of the other matches have been particularly competitive. Sometimes it seems like they're gonna score no matter what you do.

I've had a few like this. My personal fav is when they weave through your defenders, and even if you're able to poke the ball away from the original attacker it goes STRAIGHT to somebody else with either a clear lane to the goal or an easy pass to somebody that does. Drives me $#@!ing crazy.

haha, and not only that, but when they dispossess you it NEVER goes straight to one of your guys. And whats up with the way they make your players like, lose all sort of agility and balance whenever they dispossess someone? Like, you stick your foot out, dispossess the ball, and next thing you know your players is basically falling over in the opposite direction of the ball, unable to even do anything with the tackle he just successfully completed. Call me crazy, but Ive never seen that happen in real life.

yea the computer plays by it's own set of rules. like bullying your man when you can't do the same with a stronger players. how the defenders block every shot, every through pass, and every cross. the Derka example is also terrible and yes its happened in the last 3 fifas.

the most annoying is the CPU clearing the ball into the most perfect counter-attacking position several times in one game. or the clearing ball, into the through ball header, and now the CPU has 30 yards of clear space the ball and no defenders with 5 yards.

The thing that just absolutely baffles me the most, is that there are times when having control of your player and pressing buttons to prompt him to do something simply just doesnt matter. For example, Im playing the other day, and the cpu is on the attack, and the guy makes a pass on the ground, into the box for his teammate. I quickly click LB to taake over Angelo Ogbanna who, with his ridoculous length, speed, agility, and strength, will have no problem interjecting, as he's closer to the the ball, and much stronger than the oppsing striker. Welp, I got control of Ogbanna, but there was this like, entire second lag, and he just did not move for about a whole second. It was enough time to let the striker catch up wit the ball and easily score.

Or how about when you make a long pass, say 30-40 yards, on the ground, to a teammate. You can actually click LB, take that teammate over, and jam the ever living $#@! out of that joystick in the direction of the oncoming pass, and it dont make one goddamn bit of difference. That mothefucker is not going to move a muscle. That said, you better $#@!ing believe that cpu controlled defender 3 yards behind him is going to have zero problem sprinting past him for the easy interception, and often times counter. It's so baffling because someone at FIFA makes that part of the game. Like, year after year, they just keep putting that feature into this $#@!ing game on purpose! It might literally be the most unrealistic aspect of any major sports title. It'd be like if Aaron Rodgers threw a perfect pass that was going to hit Greg Hennings in stride, but Greg Jennings, through no fault of your own, just decided to stop running right where he was, so that the safety could easily pick the ball off. WHY THE $#@! DO THEY PUT THAT IN THE GAME?!?!?!?!?!?!?

At one point I had Ibrahimavic, my VP who had a 99 vertical and was an aerial threat, RvP, and Doumbia, with the poacher trait, and I STILL never won a $#@!ing cross. Completing a cross is one of the absolute hardest things to do in the game, which is ridiculous. More than 90% of the crosses I lob in are won by the other team, regardless of numbers, stats, traits, talent, whatever. $#@!ing horse$#@!.

For some reason, every now and then FIFA decides to inject this retarded lag into whatever prompt you make. In this case, Pique plays in a perfect through ball for Neymar, who, being that he sucks and all, takes a HORRIBLE first touch, and then decides to do this retarded run-up to the ball, instead of just kicking it in. So, you have Neymar, the guy can do this:



Completely unable to take a decent first touch and then shoot. As the ball gets to me, I let him take that first touch, and then immediately slam the shot button. It should take all of about .5 seconds for him to make his first touch and then shoot. Instead, his first touch, on a ball that isnt rolling very fast, with no one within 7 yards of him, requires him to take four entire steps before he can rear his leg back and futilely attempt a shot, which is obviously blocked by the defender who has long since caught up to him. $#@!ing. Gay.

I win one max per game. At this point instead of aerial crossing, I ground pass back towards the center and try and cheese the CPU with a good dribbler...usually works more than 1/10 chances that I have with a cross

2009/10 both I was a MONSTER with crosses, both in-game and from set pieces and corners. I can probably count on one hand the number of corners I've won on each of the last 2 years versions. Crosses in-game I have a bit more luck with, but not nearly as many as I had in before 2011 came out.

They did the same thing with FK's. There's barely any fouls even called, and in last year's game I just scored almost at will with Drogba on FK's. I've hit like 10 free kicks for goals, and Ive played FIFA 12 for about, oh, a million more hours than I played FIFA 11. I still havent hit a distance free kick. 3 or 4 of every 5 hit the wall, and of the one or two that dont, you either miss the goal by a thousand yards, or it's an easy save. It's BS.
