NUFC received a lot of help with the Chelsea/Arsenal draw + the QPR win today. Champions League qualification would be a dream season for the team. At the beginning of the season, no one would have predicted this club would be in the heat of the race for the top 4.
Really pulling for Newcastle to claw their way into 4th.
good lord, i check espn and see that United is tied 1-1 with Everton, turn it on just in time to see United score twice...
Awesome save by Timmy to help preserve the tie.
So if City wins out, and that's a big if, and they maintain a goal difference lead on united (currently up 4)...City wins the title...
Things just got a lot more interesting and Mondays game will be epic...
I know I might be kidding myself, but why not. Everton's draw today has clinched at least a Europa league spot, so we've got nothing to lose. We really need a Newcastle thread.
I'd be on it, but I think there are only like 4 other participants. The one thing not being discussed is momentum. Tottenham has 5 losses and 3 draws over the last 10 games. Over that period NUFC has 7 wins and 2 draws -- with 6 wins in a row. I wouldn't be sleeping easy as a hotspur fan or as a gunner. The race is tight for #4, and the last few weeks should prove to be excitingWe really need a Newcastle thread.
The importance of the butt kick that city gave united just became much more important. Without the lopsided score, City doesn't have the better goal difference.
City is 16-0-1 at home this season. United is 1-1-1 over their last three.
I'll kiss a pig if ManUre wins 3-0 next Monday.
Speaking of... biggest match of the season and it's on a Monday?!? Kinda crappy. (2:00pm central, ESPN2)
Being a City fan, I'm cautiously optimistic about the title race as we still have to play Newcastle afterwards who are probably playing better than anyone in the league at this stage.
meanwhile in Birmingham, Bolton gets a big, big win in the relegation battle. And Aston Villa have joined the party
Wigan may be fighting to stay up, but the $#@!ing CL is on the line. What a mess.
i don't know if we'll qualify for europe period with this $#@! and a dodgy remaining sched. we needed 3 here.
Yeah let's remove Ben arfa the best creator of the 2nd half
yeah, no $#@!.
also, i guess we're qualified for Europe in some form no matter the remaining results? OK. $#@!, i want CL tho.
Wow. This Wigan scoreline is exactly what Chelsea needs. Stoke finding a winner against Arsenal would be great for Chelsea too.
Blues have work to do this month...everything's a must win and half the back four are on the physio table.
By the way, what does Austin shaggy have to say about places to watch Survival Sunday unfold, now that pretty much every game is going to be available in the US? I've been going to Mister Tramps to watch some midweek Champions League games and it wasn't bad. Any other recommendations?
I mean $#@! its blues and city left.
It's shaping up to be a pretty $#@!ing good two weeks. That's all I know.
That goal difference helper against QPR could be huge for the Blues. Now need Spurs to drop points.
Has Blackburn looked that listless all season?
What a miserable performance by Blackburn. It's like they didn't even want to be there. Why couldn't Wigan have had that same attitude. Newcastle really $#@! the bed with that performance. They were playing like they thought their $#@! didn't stink. A win yesterday would have meant so much, now we have lost control of our own destiny. Crap.
Prediction for the Manchester derby tomorrow? I'm going with 2-2.
3-2 Citeh, Kun Aguero scores the winner in the 82nd minute. Rooney and Valencia score for Man U.
I'm recording the game. So turning off this thread until later tonight.
