Just got an email from ESPN about calling TWC to demand the network. I take it that's not ironing itself out? booooooooooo
Seems the providers(collectively) have decided to play hardball with ESPN. As long as one of them doesn't take it at the current price they don't have to compete with each other to get it out there first.
Just called to request the channel and was told TWC and ESPN are still hammering out an agreement. "But at least they haven't said 'no'." If I end up without LHN on top of NFL Network then this aggression will not stand.

TWC does not offer NFL network? Cable One did not for the first year, but added it last year.
They are the only ones to announce as of yet. I think more will jump on soon now that we know a second football game is coming and the programming is fairly set.
The analogy I have used in the past is:
Imagine going to a car dealership and the sales guy is trying to sell you a new car for $40,000. He is asking a pretty penny but he can't tell you what kind of car it will be and what the options look like yet because it hasn't been determined.
Now that some of the details about the network programming is getting set then it will help with negotiations.
If FIOS adds the LHN and Directv doesn't, I'm switching to FIOS.
Yeah, but in this case you know more or less what the car is going to look like and you're guaranteed to get some hot pussy in the back of this car at least twice in the next 4 months, and your target audience is a bunch of $#@!ing credit card millionaires anyway...pull the $#@!ing trigger dude, it'll all work out...

yeah, but if that CD sucks, you are out like 10 bucks. A little different situation.
Wait, people still have TW?
What kind of bunny ears do I need?
TWC on their Facebook page:
Regarding the Longhorn Network, we have to reach an agreement with the programmer, and in this case it is ESPN. We have had discussions with ESPN about the Longhorn Network and at this time we do not have an agreement in place. It is our understanding that as of today, no other major video provider has committed to carriage of this ESPN channel either.
$#@!!!!!! Getting my uverse this week. This shot better get done.

Dish Network needs to get off their asses and get this fixed. I'm still under a 2 year contract because I signed up for a free HD upgrade, now I wish I'd paid for the upgrade so i could threaten to leave Dish if they didn't get LHN, right now it kind of rings hollow.
Im looking forward to getting this network in Tennessee in 2018 (also when Aggy gets their first SEC league game win in 5 years)
I'm going to go ahead and assume someone on here will stream the Rice game for the rest of us....please.
Yeah, I wrote an email to DTV yesterday and they responded back with "After reviewing I am sorry to tell you that DirecTV has no plans to carry the Longhorn Network..." Good thing that I do not have a contract with them.
if there isnt enough demand for this, does espn pack up and go home, give it away for free, try again next year ?

The 2nd game will help. If I was ESPN I would be approaching UH, SMU, UTEP, and Rice about appearance fees for their blacked out games in CUSA. There are supposedly only 20 games (out of 49 per season) on CUSA's contract. Getting additional leverage in Dallas and Houston would be aided by getting this content.
A friend of mine who is connected to the athletic department at Rice said this exact thing - that Rice originally approached Texas/IMG/ESPN about some of the excess bandwidth and that some of the other CUSA schools in Texas were doing the same thing. Granted, I had this conversation with my friend 6 months ago and nothing has happened yet, so maybe it's so late now that it's not going to happen this season.
One thing I wonder about is whether the name "Longhorn Network" turned them off. Aggy Butthurtedness is certainly a unique and overwrought thing, but it still might be at least a little humiliating for fans of other schools to have their games televised on Big Brother's own network.
Considering that Entouch is not a "major provider" this still may be the case... My experience is that Entouch is a crappy little local outfit that buys monopolies in new developments in Fort Bend County (like the one I used to live in) and then overcharges Indian and Chinese immigrants for telephone service.

That's exactly what they are. My BIL in Katy has Entouch and that's his only option in his development. Don't think there any Indian or Chinese immigrants there, though.Considering that Entouch is not a "major provider" this still may be the case... Im willing to bet that TW is one of the last people to get it if they do at all. Seems like TW and ESPN hate eachother. I cant even get $#@!ing ESPN on my xbox because TW refuses to set up a deal. Its been like this for a $#@!ing year now.
The company is filled with ignorant tools.
Barry Horn's column in today's DMN mentions that he expects Direct TV to be first with others to follow. I hope he is right...
I have Grande and was flipping channels today and on the ANNOUNCEMENTS channel they were talking about a change happening on 08/26 involving ESPN classic moving to a different channel number and sports packages, but didn't mention LHN specifically....good news?????
For what it is worth, I went ahead and took the bait and called TWC. The operator was pretty nice and said that a lot of people had been calling and he wanted it himself. I got the same line that negotiations were ongoing. He told me that he would send a survey call after we hung up and that at the end I could leave a recorded message that I wanted LHN. He also suggested that I do so as all the messages were reviewed.
On TWC's Facebook page: "Regarding the Longhorn Network, we have to reach an agreement with the programmer, and in this case it is ESPN. We have had discussions with ESPN about the Longhorn Network and at this time we do not have an agreement in place. That doesn't sound promising but at least they're getting the message.
888-844-1983. Keep driving them nuts.
So basically.. they arent going to carry it unless someone else does it first. Great job TW. Way to be proactive. It is our understanding that as of today, no other major video provider has committed to carriage of this ESPN channel either."
Sports Business Journal is saying that Grande and Verizon Fios will be carrying LHN in Austin starting 8/26. These are big enough carriers to start the domino effect at least in the Austin market.

Can't get the whole article for free, but there is that.Just days away from its Friday launch, ESPN’s Longhorn Network has cut several deals with small distributors in the state and is counting on several more this week. Late last week, ESPN executives were in final negotiations with Verizon and Grande Communications. While at deadline...
Killed my sports pack with DirectTV. They tried to tell me about all of the other great sports channels. Bull$#@!. No LHN. No $$. Ball's in your court DTV.
