If had read that and not seen this, I would have been sure you caught the bullet train. I fell for some of the shit the shaggy produced, too. So I feel sorry for some of the cats on that side.

And before I get hammered, it's not like he wasn't a candidate.

I am so glad I was in early here. I couldn't imagine how depressing it would be over there not knowing what happened to everyone and seeing that site slow down like it has.

I am not trying to be an ass or kill the great shaggy spirit. But I read a thread I started on HFs being mocked here. Which is cool. But it was "they" actually think. And I was like, WTF? I've been on HFs for 5 or 6 years. And as far as I know, I didn't really piss off more than a few people.

I'm just saying, with regard to MIA, and the history of HFs, and the untimely deaths and such. Well, that's enough about that. I'm just saying.

The PM I got from Robert asking me to stop said he had no problem with us sending invites to posters we knew in the real world. His issue was us sending spam PMs to random posters just because we like their posts.

I am not sure what you mean LStarman. Just a changing of the gaurd. As time passes this board will attain it's own identity. As certain facts come to light here, I am glad this board has come about.

I'm quite happy for y'all that shaggy is a great new site for you. And I've been fine with some limited recruiting via PM. However, it's going too far. Please refrain from recruiting via PM.

Then I wrote him back and told him I would stop since he requested it. I went on to say that I was wondering if they were monitoring the PMs and I thought this site would be better for them in the long run since there has been far too much tension on there. I was nice to him and didn't throw back a WTF PM to him. Hell, he could have permabanned me if he wanted to.

Then he replied with this,

I've known of shaggy not long after its inception. And had zero problem with each poster PMing 2-5 of his friends with the info. When people start sending out a couple of dozen PMs to posters that they really don't know just because they like their postings, that crosses the line.

Thank you for understanding. It's actually nice to get somethign other than a surly response. Honestly, we're quite happy that shaggy exists and that a bunch of posters have found thier niche. That's truly an awesome thing (or is that "allsome"? I'm way out of the loop. :-) ).

One last thing, we rarely read PMs. I read about 1 PM that's not to/from me about every 3-4 months. Until or unless we get alerts that someone is up to something using PMs. I really, REALLY hate reading other people's messages and I really hate feeling like I have to act like a cop.

Anyway, I won't unload on you anymore. Just try to refrain from PMs unless the other poster is actually a friend or someone that you know in RL. Thanks.

But it also confirms to me that someone ratted. I pm'ed 8-10 people on Monday and got the same (type of) pm from Robert. I also replied with a cordial post and a question about why they would care about a few pms to people I had corresponded with over the past 5 years. I got a similar answer to mdmost.

I'll leave it alone. There are still some good posters over there and some good parts (horn Depot and Quacks) but I don't spend nearly the time that I normally did.

like i said, its really unfortunate.

they've done it to themselves. i got a particularly scathing pm from katy that i've won't be posting, but it really fucking hurt my feelings. i couldn't believe after all the years i'd been on the website, with nary a "billy humor" or "scally" or "henry james" rep that i got that pm. not to mention the sponsorship, which i never thought warranted special treatment.

i can be an ass, but i don't think i ever really crossed the line as much as some of the rest of ya'll. i should've cut my sub right then and there, but i forgave it.

after a bit of dialogue, she apologized, and it was geniune, but that first pm will always kind of remain in my memory. when i read it, i was seriously floored.

Yeah, I have found myself spending less and less time over there. I was wondering where all the funny posters were. HF was just so much better only a few years ago. I'll still go there for some UT sports stuff, but I have Orangebloods and hopefully this place to sate my UT/mindless crap thirst.

I too was one of those got semi banned a bunch before I toned it down, never really saying what I wanted. Good to know I can say what I want over here. Damn, I haven't gotten to 200 posts over there.
