Softie. Big time.
Softie. Big time.
This game took a helluva turn.
Wow, Briere gets $#@!ing stoned.
Great game.
Refs did everything they could to get it to OT.
Indeed. Great save by Henrik to keep it from going OT.
I have no issues with Boston as they beat those damn Canucks last year but I wouldn't mind seeing the Rangers in the finals either. I love the way this Rangers team plays - they take the mentality of Tortorella who is as hard nosed as they come. I think a Rangers/Hawks original six final would be all sorts of win.
As long as anyone but those damn Canucks win I don't care who wins this year.
great game.
Now I can't wait for my Stars to $#@!stomp the Wings tomorrow. :D
Pavs and Mule will come through in big ways.
Laughed hard at Rupp doing the Jags salute.

So who gets the Winter Classic next year?
Has to be Detroit doesn't it? Minnesota?
I think they should rotate the teams each year. We've had 5 of these and only 8 unique teams. Spread the wealth.
Personally I think the winter classic at Target Field in Minneapolis would look really $#@!ing nice some year....
I've heard talk for years about a potential Flyers/Pens Winter Classic at Penn State...Hope it happens some year...
The biggest problem with rotating the teams is that there are only so many cities you can have the games in with freezing temps...Canada already has the heritage classic (Flames/Habs last year).
Maybe what you could do is bring in a southern market, like maybe a San Jose, to face someone like a Detroit, Philly, Rangers, Boston in the northern city. That way you can get some more teams involved and still have the game in an environment suited for the game.

not sure if some of you have been following this thread, but it's looking very disheartening: http://www.shaggybevo.com/board/show...006-is-missing.
Be nice if I could actually $#@!ing see what was going on in that vid.
And I'll leave you with one thought: WHEN are those dunderheads in Calgary going to wise up and fire Brent Sutter? he sucked with New Jersey and he sucks now. And trade Iginla while you're at it so he can win a Cup, idiots. 9-0, are you kidding me? I know it's the Bruins, but come on.
Calgary Flames management is another example of the primary problem in this world today: an inordinate amount of stupid people.
Even though I $#@!ing hated your team, thank you for being a fan of the sport I love, Texdude.
R.I.P. I hope the Wings win the Cup more than ever for you, man.
I know it's stupid, but now I'm kinda glad the Wings won that game. Chances are pretty good he was in great spirits when he died. I can only hope that I'm happy when I finally go.

I can't sum up the greatness of 24/7, so I'll let the ending narrative do it for me.
Chills.Never get caught trying to tell a hockey player it's just a game. Never get caught trying to explain to him all the things in the world that matter so much more. His mind might well acknowledge the truth to your point, but his soul would be powerless to accept it. Considering the immensity of what he gives to the sport, & the immeasurability of all it offers in return. Nothing ever feels as perfect as a moment of flawlessness on the ice. No bond is string as one that compels brothers to bleed for one another. Not many leaders will disperse in the craft of motivation. Not many pursuits can evoke such visions of brilliance. This is why it hurts so much when skill falls short of what the will desires. This is why it's so unforgettable when absolute passion yields ultimate reward. And that's all just the start....of what the game can do to you. "The stakes rise as the season continues from here.... while you watch from a distance remember what was validated up close....hockey may very well be just a game, but it's also who they are.
"$#@!in' right, boys"

This is the kind of thing that happens when go scorched earth to impose a salary cap in the last CBA negotiation.
I think the only thing I hate about the realignment that's been proposed is it means less of Chicago/Vancouver in meaningful playoff series. Rivalries mean something to sports and that's the best rivalry in the game today.
Nothing screams rivalry like Bolland calling the Sedins "sisters" and Vigineault, predictably, saying that Bolland has a face only a mother could love.
TexDude2006 texted this pic to me and my buddy Smartin on January 3rd.
Hook 'Em TexDude2006 and Go Wings !

I don't think there is a realignment that will make everyone happy, BoBigRed mentions Chicago/Vancouver, a few years ago I argue that some of the best playoff hockey was Oilers/Stars, other people say you can't split Chicago/Detroit, some people would like a Canadian/Northern division, too many factors. No matter what happens people will bitch.
And don't worry, someone else will definitely call the Sedins "sisters" again.
Yeah and I don't think Dale Weise is going to be a favorite in Boston any time soon after he fought Horton on Saturday but turtled from Shawn Thornton. As Don Cherry said on coach's corner, you CANNOT pick and choose who you fight against. If you fight one guy, fight the other guy too.
Dale Weise has definitely been "Vancouverized." By that I mean he's learned how to turtle and basically be a complete pussy on the ice.
That said, the Marchand hit DEFINITELY deserved a five gamer although Ballard should have been called for his hip-check moments before. Hoping Salo is OK, he's one of the few Canucks (Malhotra, Schneider also) that I respect.
I didn't think he deserved 5 games, but whatever. Anything that pisses Jack Edwards off is good with me.
Also, watching Tampa for the first time, and christ they are lost defensively. Doesn't help that they have jack$#@! in goal. Roloson looked like a beer league goalie on the goal they gave up to go down 2-0.
And Spezza just scored a sick $#@!ing goal in Pittsburgh...
I still don't know how a team that talented can be so awful...Tampa I mean...Tebus they are awful...
And then there's Ottawa...One of the two or three most perplexing teams in the league...They don't look like they have much but here they are in 5th to start tonight...And looks like they will win again tonight...
Montreal Canadiens situation is out of control. Team leader Mike Cammalleri, the only guy with any backbone on that team, tells the truth and what does he get? A trade. Wow.

Jets Home record = 14-7-1, Away record = 6-11-4. I know the new barn in Winnipeg is a great building but come on their performance on the road is brutal!
Now that is one time I would have enjoyed listening to Jack Edwards commentary. That would have been pure gold, Jerry, pure gold.
I think anyone would love to have this guy. He can snipe about as well as anyone in the game...and now he's getting reunited with Iginla...
True. I also posted this before I saw the hit that Raymond did right before Marchand's hip check - the very same play. I would tend to retract my statement now.
That was not a great game to watch honestly. Too many penalties and the referees were too much a part of the game.
I still don't think Vancouver can take Boston in a best 4 of 7. Not physical enough, Luongo's a sieve, Vancouver still plays in a sieve of a division which doesn't prepare them for the beating they will take at the hands of teams like Chicago or Boston. Minnesota, Calgary, Colorado are all average and the Oilers are improving but are still two to three years from playoffs. Hall and Nugent Hopkins are young studs but Edmonton needs more beef to protect them.

Edmonton has Ben eager And Darcy hordichuk to protect the kids, problem is thy always seem to be hurt, the oilers may suck but it sure it fun watching these young kids play
They haven't caught a break with injuries at all either, the nudge and eberle out and now hall gettin cut by a skate in warm up, and really all three injuries were kinda freak things
The new NBC Sports Network (used to be Versus here in Austin) has a show called NHL 36, where they follow a player up close for 36 hours. The latest one is on Lidstrom. It covers that game in Dallas on 1/3/12. Great show, but sad to watch stuff from that game.
