you find yourself with true freshmen starting at LT, QB, RB and WR, just have the decency to quit, since apparently we can't fire you.

we are 21 months removed from a national title appearance. shut the $#@! up, retard.
Stupid thread is stupid... You would be crying for us to "play the best player" if we didn't have freshman at those positions
wow another aggy like thread...just what we $#@!ing needed.
Welcome to AggyBevo. Very aggy this board is...
lol at all these brats who need to feel better about losing by firing Mack... you guys must be really smartz/,
Bitching about aggy...actually it is very aggy to delude yourself with mediocre results. Ask yourself now...who is the aggy here?
sounds like we could call anything we don't agree with as aggy
should we go kansas aggy bring in some jucos?
I have no problem playing Freshman. It's long overdue with Mack to turn them loose. Football is getting like basketball, you better play them while you've got them, cause they will go pro if they have any chance as soon as they can. 4 years is not guaranteed and redshirting may hurt recruiting.
They do however need to be the best player available, let them learn when the game is out of reach or in practice. UT should NEVER be in a rebuilding strategy, that is not our standard. 10 wins is.
Man, everyone always bitched about Scott Derry, etc, and Mack's refusal to play more talented younger players, and now when we finally ARE playing talented young players, during a season that is a $#@!ing waste on a championship level, now Mack is an $#@!? Come on. Look, we're not winning more than 9 this year, and maybe as few as 7. It is what it is. It's a rebuilding year. But we're young and talented as hell and the incoming 2012 class is only going to make us better. So, what could possibly be better for our long-term success than to let the young QB/RB/WR/ETC get over their jitters so that they're ready to wreck $#@!ing shop when Johnathan Gray get here?!
Our near future is extremely promising and our coaches are outstanding. Deep breaths, y'all...
Thank you. Aggybevo. That's the word I have been searching for. These last two weekends have been relatively easy for me to watch as a fan, and tough for me to endure on the internet as a fan. It doesn't take koolaide to understand a loss to a top 10 team when you are moving in the right direction.
Full retard. Aggybevo. Jesus $#@! I hate our fans sometimes.
are we going to have threads like this every week? this place is worse than texags sometimes
pos rep for TexArcher. The only thing I would add is Malcolm Brown II (DT from Brenham) to J. Gray.
I have two words for you: Reed Boyd.
This week was improved and next year will be the year. Please don't start this fire Mack $#@!e again.
My god.... Mack cleans house and some how our players are supposed to magically improve and mature during the offseason? Some of you people need to consider sometimes going long on Texas athletics.
Not sure about playing all the freshman, but I'd be happy with a clause in the contract that requires the head coach of Texas to maintain a .500 record vs. Oklahoma over a ten year period. Otherwise, it's time to get a cush job working with the Longhorn Foundation.
Seriously. Not even asking for a winning record. Just even over 10 years.
Hey, like the other guy said, four year recruiting breaks are fun. Especially when you make $5 million a year. Hell, even Mack admits he hadn't been around much. That results in starting true freshmen at positions where true freshmen shouldn't ever play. And now we're paying for it.
Uh, no. You demand that your head coach isn't forced to clean out his coaching staff and play freshman because of years of complacency. You're giving him credit for doing $#@! he should have done years ago -- hold coaches and players accountable. And he's only doing because we went 5-7 last year, not because its the right thing to do.
2011 is a rebuilding year where Texas will lose to A&M in addition to the 2 losses and maybe 1 more. So the Horns finish 8-4 and maybe a bowl win. 2012 looks much better, maybe 10-2 and a top 10 finish. 2013 I'm thinking title game appearance.
Dude, 8-4 is pretty optimistic. OkState defense got shredded by both Tulsa and aggy and but for Fozzy's return and a safety we score only 17 points and get 135 yds passing on 40 attempts. The only game between now and the end of the year that we will be a clear favorite is KU. Missouri, Tech, KSU, aggy and Baylor will be tough games for this squad if we can't pass any better than this because I doubt there are many more 200+ yd rushing days after ppl break down the Ash game film. 7-5 is more realistic and 6-6 is VERY possible. 6-6 with a bowl loss might cost Mack his job.
MassiveHorn just trolled everyone. Hard. About all he's good for these days.
Anyway, chill the $#@! out people. Honestly, this vagina flapping reminds me of reading NFL fan boards. Most recently, of the Browns who are $#@!ing livid their team isn't looking Super Bowl bound after jettisoning the HC, having a new offense installed, having severely less time in the off-season to get the new regime established, and while having a bunch of inexperienced or bad players across the team. It's all Colt's fault, somehow, in their minds.
Same thing here. Mack made mistakes. He held onto some lazy and mediocre coaches for way too long. He made some bad recruiting moves. He got a bit complacent. It resulted in a 5 win season. So, instead of just blindly staying the course, he actually went to work trying to get things fixed. He got rid of Fat Dog and replaced him with probably the best S&C coach in CFB. He replaced his coordinators with two up and coming guys who were highly thought of. He got rid of some prima donnas and he gave GG a chance, but was willing to pull the plug early when it was clear the kid was never going to get it done. He's now playing young guys across the board, setting us up to have some ultra experienced teams the next few years. And for that we're supposed to tar and feather him and run him out of town?
I'd be calling for Mack's head too IF he'd stayed with GD and Fat Dog and MacWhorter. If he'd kept playing $#@!ty seniors and kept the talented young guys on the bench. If he'd stuck with GG even though it was obvious the kid was going to be a dismal failure. Those would be signs of a coach not giving a $#@! and thinking he's above it all and knows better than everyone else.
Clearly, Mack realized his mistakes and took steps to get the program back to where it needs to be. Unfortunately, that $#@! doesn't happen overnight. It certainly doesn't help that the Big 12 has some really good teams this year. For $#@!s sake, we've got Freshman covering guys like Stills, Broyles, and Blackmon. All guys who are headed for the NFL. Yeah, it sucks. Still, how good are our guys going to be one, two, and three years down the road because they were going up against that caliber of player early in their careers?
This team is lining up for multiple title runs down the road. If our O-line improves (which it should) and if Ash really can be the guy, this team will be hard to beat starting next year. The defense will only get better. Hell, losing Gideon at the end of the year improves it 100x fold alone. Hold your $#@!ing water and learn to play the long game. Championship teams aren't built in a year.
Of course, why bother even bringing logic into this? Some of you folks whining right now were the same $#@!tards calling for Vince's head back in '03.
I probably would have phrased it a bit differently, but the OP has a point. We have either been extraordinarily unlucky or pretty lazy when it comes to recruiting the past 4 years.
spiral nailed it. those with the lynch mob mentality in regard to mack need to get a grip.
