I was hoping to resolve the little girl issue, and after seeing Michael Rooker's name in the credits I was slightly disappoint that as of right now he's only appearing as an imaginary character (Rooker = Darrell's brother), but I can't complain (well, Hyundai's still be buggin me but whatever). Best episode of the season so far tonight.

(graybeard needs to get in that), Shorthair McMissingdaughter should've probably offered to give Darrell a beej for his troubles, and Rick is annoying with his reception to Shane's valid logical and in a real world zombie situation likely correct assessment of the appropriate strategy re: missing retarded girl who didn't just $#@!ing stay put (not your fault Rick, she's not smart enough to survive in this world $#@! her).

But yeah, $#@! actually happened this episode. Darrell is far and away my favorite character right now... I guess followed by.... Glenn? Shane?

Oh and also in that flashback scene we see Atlanta being bombed my helicopters but yet in all the scenes when rick and the rest of the gang were down there it didn't look like it was completely destroyed outside of the zombies. I am assuming that they happened to just be in the specific spots in downtown where it wasn't bombed?

That was the best scene in the show for me. I'd love to have an episode dedicated to the prologue of their story, showing how the "troop" all came to be nestled in that camp overlooking the quarry.

Seeing the governmental response and action to the outbreak is always the most interesting part of WWZ to me.

couple of problems with this:

1. it would take some writers with actual skill to come up with that story line. the current staff would come up with a girl getting lost at walmart and the entire us army was sent to look for her. fyi along the way some zombies showed up.

2. though it would be very awesome it would also be very expensive to shoot those scenes.

I had my fingers crossed that the traffic jam would get overrun with zombies. People freaking out, shooting each other, pulled out of cars, getting torn to shreds. Mass hysteria with Shane getting the core group of survivors the $#@! outta there. But alas, we were taken back to the sleepy farm for some more secret pregnancy drama.

And if I were Glenn I would demand pooper for my silence about the barn situation.

Watching Boardwalk Empire an hour later just reinforces how $#@!ting the writing/acting is.

1 - No, it was not the same jam they are in now, as they are supposed to be on the road to Fort Benning, away from Atlanta

2 - The jam they showed in the flashback was people trying to get to a refugee center in Atlanta. Shane talked about it. Broadcasts went off the air and the guvmint started to napalm ATL. Supposition is that zombie hoardes overran the refugee center and response was to try to eradicate said zombies.

3 - The jams we saw last season outbound from ATL were due to everybody LEAVING Atlanta after things went to hell and the guvmint started raining fire down on the citizenry. There would not have been jams inbound as all the cars we saw in the flashback would have turned around and headed away from ATL.

Well, they were dropping napalm, not regular bombs. Not that familiar with the destruction caused by napalm, but I would imagine its less than if they had been shelling downtown.

My daughter watched the episode before I did and told me that there was a twist. I assumed that Darryl was going to show up at camp with his brother and that he wasn't a hallucination. That actually would have been kind of cool.

Yea, I really, really want to love this show but am having a hard time getting over the rookie writer mistakes. The blonde bitch (older sister) shooting her zombie sister in the head, point blank, was stupid. Like really dumb.

The whole CDC story was also stupid. It seems the writers, really quickly, needed to ditch the CDC story arch and kill off a character. Some of the other story arcs are obnoxious, like anything pertaining to that blonde chick who acts like a bitch. Shut the $#@! up already.

Grimes is one part super-likeable and another part intense drama queen. His wife is also overly dramatic and the "cemetery" $#@! was obnoxious.

The lost-kids arc is boring.

Overall, I think it's a great concept with some really good ideas but some seriously out of touch writers. I also find the production to be a bit amateurish as well, specifically the few special effects and especially the foley. This show's foley work is probably some of the worst I've ever heard for this genre. It's just so $#@!ing campy.

Foley is a postproduction technique to create everyday, environmental sounds to correlate with what's on the screen. For example, the sound of an actor walking, footsteps, punches, etc. In the case of the Walking Dead, the shoddy foley work that stands out to me are some of the sounds during the zombie attacks. For instance, when Darrel's arrow goes into a walker's head, it sounds like a watermelon being dropped off a kitchen counter. Too wet, unrealistic, and generally over the top. The same goes for when he pulls the arrow out -- it sounds like a splat. This may sound nit picky but the whole essence of foley involves adding critical but typically unnoticeable ambience to the scenes. It adds a crucial element of reality that, when done properly, isn't really noticed. In this case, I can't help but notice the silly sound effects, and it seems to go part and parcel with some silly story arcs, character development (lack thereof), dialogue, etc.

Once AMC pissed off Darabont by cutting the budget and $#@!, it all started to go downhill.

It never ceases to amaze me how Hollywood can $#@! up even the greatest ideas. You've got the zombie apocalypse for a show. You already have a ton of people that will tune into that $#@! just on zombies alone as long as you don't $#@! it up too badly. So, what do you do? You slash the budget and basically run off the legitimate director/producer and you allow the writers to make it into a soap opera filled with stupid people doing stupid things every single episode. You had success in the first season making the show travel oriented where the characters were moving along and trying to find some sort of civilization. So what do you do in season two? You get them all of a day outside of Atlanta and then completely stall them for the rest of the season because of a missing girl who has had zero impact in the story up to this point.

Maybe the writers are pissed AMC ran off Darabont so they're purposefully tanking the series.
