Our probable 25th man...
http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/texas...ome-out-banginThere are eight outfielders (including Mitch Moreland) on the current Texas Rangers 40-man roster and six of them hit left-handed (five have Major League experience). In considering the non-roster invites to spring training, there is right-handed first baseman/outfielder Conor Jackson who could possibly help the 2012 Rangers off the bench.
“They’re a pretty left-handed hitting team. First of all, I’ve got to make the squad. That’s the biggest thing for me,” Jackson said in a recent interview when he was a guest on Rangers Magazine. “I can’t have a usual slow spring training. I’ve got to come out bangin’ and show ’em I can still play. I’m just looking forward to an opportunity.”
Jackson is a career .271 hitter having played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox. In his 7-year career, Jackson is 12-for-65 (.185) with three home runs and 10 RBI as a pinch-hitter. The 2003 first round selection for Arizona has battled a myriad of ailments the past several seasons including valley fever, a right hamstring injury and a sports hernia. He’s played in just 204 games in the past three seasons.
Jackson was born in Austin, Texas, but spent most of his youth in Southern California because his dad, John Jackson, is an actor who was Admiral Albert Jethro (A.J.) Chegwidden in the television series JAG and Captain West in A Few Good Men. According to IMDB, Jackson has had 81 acting roles. Father can relate to son and vice versa based on a common theme that connects acting and baseball.
“He used to describe to me sometimes the failure because as an actor you fail. You go in and don’t get a role,” Jackson recalled. “Baseball in some regards is the same thing. You hit .300 and you’re still failing seven out of 10 times.”
Jackson could be a good fit in a supporting role on the 2012 Rangers.
Case of beer sent to the person who's boy rips the first Rangers HR off CJ this year.

Koji gone?
Surely we're not getting a lefty specialist out of this. Maybe just some AA baller, clear the salary, sign Mike Gonzalez?
called it as soon as the season ended: Uehara never puts on a Rangers uniform again.
BTiA:
According to Joe Stiglich of the Bay Area News Group, the Athletics and Rangers are "getting close" on a deal that would send right-hander Koji Uehara to the Athletics for an unspecified return. It's also mentioned that the Athletics have been pursuing Mike Gonzalez, who has been regarded as a potential Rangers target but hasn't yet been snapped off the open market.
CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler independently confirms that a Uehara deal is in the works and moving along.
More updates later, if further developments should warrant those.
DMN:
It appears the Rangers and Oakland may be putting the final touches on a deal that would send RHP Koji Uehara to the A's in exchange for a prospect. After the San Jose Mercury-News reported the sides were close, a Major League source indicated there had been more movement towards completing a deal.
The biggest windfall the Rangers will receive is $4 million in salary relief with Oakland taking on all of Uehara's salary. The Rangers are currently a "tick" over payroll, according to GM Jon Daniels.
The Rangers had agreed to a deal to send Uehara to Toronto last month, but Uehara used his limited no-trade protection to veto that deal. He can't block a deal to Oakland or Baltimore, the two teams that have showed the most interest in him.
Dealing Ueahra would also allow the Rangers to potentially focus on either adding LHP Mike Gonzalez, in whom the club still has some interest, or further investigating a deal with RHP Roy Oswalt.
And again, $#@! him for axing the deal to Toronto. I hope he gets shanked in Oakland.
Sign Gonzo!

If Alberto Gonzalez makes the team I will hate him. And I usually love me some utility IFs.

TR, a little over an hour ago...
Rangers sources said multiple clubs are talking to them about reliever Koji Uehara. The Athletics are one team but a source said, “other clubs involved too.”
At this point, club sources said they “don’t know” if they can conclude a deal for Uehara. A month ago club officials indicated there was a good chance Uehara could be traded. He turned down a trade to the Blue Jays earlier this off-season.
The Orioles have shown interest in Uehara, who is scheduled to make $4 million this year. The Rangers are looking for multiple prospects in return.
If they could unload Uehara’s salary, it could put them in a position to pursue left-handed free agent reliever Michael Gonzalez.
Lefthander C.J. Wilson went 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 28 post-season innings with the Texas Rangers last year. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Wilson offered reasons for his poor showing.
Wilson said he was "a little fatigued'' going into the post-season. Wilson had a career-high 223 1/3 innings during the regular season and was the only member of the rotation to stay on an every-fifth-day program down the stretch.
Wilson also said he "had some pretty bad personal stuff going on" but declined to elaborate. The Rangers made no mention of personal problems for Wilson during the post-season.
Just in case we needed a couple more reasons to hate him. What a mother $#@!ing pussy.
awesome.
"Personal stuff going on." Christ CJ,grow a pair and do your job.
I had some personal stuff going on too. I had to root for you dumb ass and act surprised every time you flaked. If the hand of God hadn't reached down and rained you and Verlander out of Game 1, that would have been another loss on your head.
